Aisehman....Aaron you are lightning fast, posting the inaugural thread before me!!
Talking about car safety, i tested drive Toyota Prius last week. I discovered this 1.8L car has the same horsepower of 2.4L due to the additional power generated by the electric motor. This car is imported from Japan and it has 8 air bags!! The price of RM175k is bit of pricey and car delivery is min 6 mths. Any views??

Thangster, don't forget the maintenance too.... Just imagine, if the electric motor konks out....
I'll bet the moment you buy you'll be held "hostage" by Toyota for the duration of your ownership.
175 is way too pricey for most of us.

I was told by Toyota salesman that the battery shud last at least 10yrs and the battery replacement cost is between RM10k-20k (wow..it's high!). As far as i know, this new Prius is the 3rd generation hybrid car and has been popular in Japan, Europe and US. When i asked whether Prius was ever marketed in tropical climate country like Malaysia and subsceptible to the challenging external environment(dust, flood, etc), i saw a blank look.

Theorectically, it should be able to last 10 years. but under what type of climate? Would hotter and more humid like ours degrades the battery life faster?
Another thing is that in Jpn, Spore and some other developed countries, cars are scrapped after 10 years or less. so not many would actually replace the battery after it's 'expired'..
So I personally don't think it sell well here to the general public.. Maybe to the selective few who wants to have it as novelty..
