Am not sure about ya all, but I have personally went to survey on the mask our neighbour pharmacy. The first stop, Watson, was out of stock. The price being sold was RM1 per piece. Then, went to a nearby pharmacy, got to know the price sold 4 for RM5. I bought 20pieces, which most of it are for my family. But earlier just now I met my friend whose coincidently have those three-ply mask selling at 1box contains 50sheet, sellihng for RM20. He is currently having few boxes and wanted to ask if anyone is interested to get it. It is not meant to be sold seperately(!). This is meant for the health conscious and prevention of current H1N1 influenza. Let me know if anyone interested and I can deliver it to you around USJ. Limited stock currently and First come first serve basis. Only have 50 box in hand.

P/S: Am not sure if i have posted on the right place, if it is not, please move this to the correct location. Thanks.

Furthermore, we do not know what sort of quality. Why the limitation to sell by boxes? I believe masks for RM1 each are just basic quality... probably those that need to be used only for short periods and I doubt you could even use it for a whole day. Really good quality masks get up to maybe hundred ringgit or more per box. Now we have someone offering a box for RM20 with delivery within USJ? My alarm bells are ringing

I will stick to our rule against business solicitation on the forum. I cannot imagine what we will have next ... Tamiflu?

... err, 50 sheets 3 ply for "only" RM20 - still pretty cheap compared to those being hawked around the block... I've seen boxes being sold for RM40-50 a box....

... someone shud contact this fella and if the offer is good... might as well grab it quick... :p before the Gomen 'shut' him down for spoiling market!!! :D

The thicker and more layers of material makes it harder to breathe through it. Anything used to stop very tiny particles can be very uncomfortable. In our hot weather people have found it very uncomfortable to use for long periods. Looks like it's a hobson's choice.

These masks are not designed to filter all the air that you breathe. What you inhale simply comes in from the sides and bottom of the mask. It is to prevent someone infected with flu from spreading droplets into the air and settling on surfaces. To fully protect yourself, you need a mask that filters ALL the air that you breathe in. Such a mask will be like the gas masks that you see in the movies.

If that is the case then when you breathe in through the side you are sucking in air containing the virus. No point wearing it then? You are supposed to breathe through the material.

As cskok said, the point of wearing the mask is to prevent infected people from dispersing droplets to the air. It does nothing much for healthy people in terms of prevention. At best it helps stop you from getting the droplets sprayed to your nose and mouth by someone sneezing or coughing at your face.

Social distancing is the answer - keep at arms' length from others. The chance of breathing in the droplets is less if you keep yr distance. The virus is not air-borne. It is droplet borne and droplets are heavy - they fall on surfaces. That is why you must wash or sanitise your hands after touching any surface.

For the third day in a row, WHO has emphasised on the high-risk group as Obesed people and Pregnant Women and Diabetes sufferers. Just keep these in mind fellas.... In USA and Canada, more than half the people who died from the virus are from these 3 groups.
