go to the shop and check out the user friendliness.Tips to look out for

- voice navigation (do this unit offer?)
-finding places by name or point of interest like makan place, petrol stations, hotels)
-can u find posn by keying in coordinates?

I have used garmin(and i own 2 units),tomtom, hp before and i still swear by Garmins.Price have dropped a looooooooooooot and its very user friendly.

Hehehe.. don't we all face a similar phenomenon. Can I suggest you take a stroll to PJ IT Mall, go research what's on offer (you don't really have to buy immediately) and get the sales fellas to try convince you how good the stuff they're selling, but go Garmin...still very much favored by many...just the price though!. Of course Garmin doesn't have any capability to shout.

Your partner might question why you opt for a mechanical voice when you have a loving live voice beside you. You might end up in bed with a plastic android instead! :p

There is an ongoing fair at MICE Convention Centre until Sunday. You can check out GPS devices there. Get a device which has bluetooth capability to synchronise with your handphone. Of course, if the other half is in the vehicle but the other loving half call, then, I am afraid you can kiss the device goodbye.

I strongly support Garmin. Why? Because its user-friendly and uncomplicated. Wifey has no problem with Garmin but the others, so its proven - wifey-friendly too!

when i bot my nuvi300 (now obsolete), i paid abt sgp550 for it, now the 205 was selling sgp199 last month..

Dont pay for the junction view etc la..basic with voice is enough..

When we were in Penang last week, all i had to do was give the coordinates to my buddies and we could rendezvous at certain locations that he is not familiar with....

Especially useful when u are in unfamiliar territories, u wanna look for petrol stations or hotel or famous makan places, it will list down for u (provided u are loaded with the malsingmaps or malfree maps lah, most shops will upload for u foc anyways)

Hey SingaporeEhsai, how many versions of the M'sian or S'pore maps are there? I was in a buddy's Odyssey and I saw his Malaysian road map different from the one I have in my Garmin. Apparently he got it free when he bought the Odyssey from Honda Malaysia leh...

You quoting S'pore prices ah?...perhaps something not everyone here gets to enjoy if you feel you got a much better deal before. Just like LCD TV's...its cheaper in S'pore or got better deals there than us here, no?
I've to be realistic and face local street prices...Malaysia that is..
For me, I'd browse at this website as a guide for local prices.
Seems your 205 is a third cheaper than here in Malaysia. The extra goes to you know who whether you like or not..

think got 3 versions?
- malsingmap
-malfree map (some of the founder of malsingmap broke away and formed their own forum) but i think they still share the platform.
-mapkings

Ok...lucky you. Not so convenient for me and perhaps many others here, unless with other purposes and intent.
Perhaps can I request you to help get me the 765 model and bring over, can?..
