PM Najib : " Present way to raise Bumiputra equity a dead end "

# Bumi equity of 18.9% (instead of 30 %) has been stuck for the last 19 years

# Those who received Bumi shares were not ordinary folk, but mainly influential people !!!

# A new mechanism "Equinas Nasional Bhd (Ekuinas), which is a private equity fund for Bumi will be introduced to solve the disparity.

No the majority of malays did not achieve but umnoputras achieved more than 60 percent. This reflected in the last election whereby in populated malay areas , they switch their votes to PKR. The other phenomena is the fact that those who enriched themselves always send their children overseas.

Upon their return, they have came out of the tempoyang and know their rights and many have realised that they cannot sustain by handouts , whether politically or morally. :D

The government can not force on the bumi if they do not want to. Not everyone are interested in business. The up bringing, religion and culture play a part. Not everyone like the hassle of a businessman's life, even among non-bumi. I believe this is one important aspect that people tends to overlook and politician ignored.

There are peoples who are just happy being a "sleeping" partner as long as they don't have to worry about meals and other basic needs. There is nothing wrong living this way. God allow this. God never said they need to chase for material gains. Why force onto bumi to attain the 30% quota? Let them have their choice, choose the way that fit them best. They don't need quota system if they are interested.

This sort of issue relating to NEP, implications and current progress (if any)are already known/realized to many rakyat. Most already know its not progressing as planned and have gone very complex. Those who have taken the opportunity to enrich themselves now or in the past are likely not happy if these opportunities are lost by change of policies or acts. Meanwhile the ordinary mortals and not well to do ones just carry on to survive in this world as in the past. Acquiring wealth legitimately and quickly ain't no easy path although many are thinking the government are obliged or must make the path easy.

Not only the special chinese but also those special Indian and Malays too. That is why the NEP cannot achieve the stated goal of 30% Bumi participation. I believe it is high time the government review this piece of archaic policy for the future of Malaysia.

Your guess is as good as mine. As long as these articles are written with a view of garnering support for the ruling UMNO, and by their own mouthpiece Utusan... semuanya bolih!
