I know I know I know....
Before you taruh me, I know there is an existing credit card thread but I'm just too lazy to dig it out. Sorry in advance.
I hold a Public Bank credit card and would like to have a very very basic and free if possible credit card from another bank.
I will not hold an Islamic card (I'm not Muslim)
I will not hold cards from Standard Chartered (no answer from their service line)
I will not hold cards from HSBC (accused me of cheating them and not even apologizing when they found they screwed up)
I will not hold cards from Citibank (cheated me once out of a "free" handphone)
I will not hold cards from UMNOputra linked banks such as CIMB.
Any other suggestions? Again sorry in advance.
Muahahaha

Like USJ27Resident said, use a Debit Card lah... everything on cash basis, no membership, no interest, everything under control.
Is there such a thing as a 'free if possible credit card'?
Surely you have to pay something for their services.
The Banks also have staffs & someone have to contribute to their salaries. :D

Emergency only.
I only have 1 card now. Sometimes when I pay for something with this card, the terminals says the transaction is declined.
Why, oh, why I have absolutely no freaking idea. I pay my bills 100% promptly every monthend and fail to see any reason why my card is rejected. This has happened a few times already.
So... I need another card just in case this card fails on me again.

I am currently using Citibank. Quite good service. I never pay for the membership fees. Just call them up to waive it every year.
I heard HLB quite good but I am not sure about their service.

Don't trust credit cards. Got money spend, no money don't spend. No hidden charges, no annual fee, no points to accumulate and no temptation to spend.

If you are disciplined to pay on time, there should not be any problem...to be cashless is priceless. I have been using CC for the last 15 yrs and have no issue using them... :D

u have oledi eliminated so many banks in advance .. so there should be easier for u to choose from the left over. no?
i read from this forum since every card provider also got their own tainted remarks. hence left us with only reason to intro you to any of them is depend on what goodies they give to introducer!! :D
personally all my cards are free, I went to treatfair last week, for once it's so fun shopping without needed to pay. Make use of cc and not the other way round.

I wouldn't worry about the interest rate. I pay 100% every month. On time. The bloodsuckers got no chance to earn a single sen interest from me.
Is the card islamic or nonislamic version?

Is Amex a charge card? Is it widely accepted compared to the garden variety Master/Visa? Where do I go to pay the bill?
Aah, Amex... that's a complicated lot...
First there's the Amex charge card of course. It's now being issued by Maybank under license (or outsourced by Amex to MBB) and of coz you can pay by MB2U. You get a card with American Express on it only, no reference to any banks. You got to pay in full every month, there is no credit limit per se, but if u go crazy and charge RM100,000 one shot, which is outside of your normal spending pattern or financial abilities (based on their profile of your credit worthiness) they might call you to verify before approving the charge
Then there's the Amex credit card, also issued under Amex name. You can pay minimum balance, just like any credit cards. It looks different from the charge card.
Then some of the local banks tie in with Amex the corporate entity, and they issue their own Bank's Amex credit card. Example is Maybank Amex credit card, u use it much like the Visa and Mastercards except it is an Amex brand, it carries the Maybank logo on the front of the card as well as Amex logo. Hong Leong bank also issue similar Amex credit card.
Confused yet? :D
I think I got myself more confused also. :p

Ambank card. I don't use it but you can easily get it from Carrefour as you walk out after the check-out counters. There are no less than 6 'very attentive, maybe too hyper' promoters.
Hong Leong is reintroducing their essential card. 1% off from all transactions - no strings attached. Try them and if you do use it (as you say in emergencies), at least you will get a discount.

Have checked.... Maybank's American Express is a CREDIT CARD... FREE for life...no catch not hidden clause...[ie. must use 6/12 times/amount per year etc etc...] meaning, it is a if you pay in full - its an interest FREE teller machine... if you pay PART or MINIMUM - then it kicks in like a normal credit card with tiered interests rates... Credit Line is based on your current or applied credit limits approved... :)

Eh, no lar, Amex Charge card and Credit card are 2 different things. These are all issued under American Express company. What I meant by Maybank issuing the cards is that Maybank has taken over the administrative part of card issuance and billing since Amex Corp scaled down their operation and outsourced these operations to Maybank. Their cards are still Amex branded.
Check here the Amex card comparison ...
http://www.amexmalaysia.com.my/amx_info/amexInfo/pers/channel01.do?channelId=CB-CardBenefits&chCatId=/amex/Am-Personal/CB-CardBenefits
Maybank also have their own Maybank Amex credit card. That's why I said it is confusing. :D
