Many thanks.

There is starbucks and another eatery. There are 2 convenience store, CIMB & Maybank. They were open at 7am on weekday.

Its comfortable. It has improved loads from the first time I started using it (about 1.5 years ago, I think)....that time we only had Mak Cik cafe which opened only after 9am.

Many thanks.I found that some of the eateries were pricey but Starbucks is there and there is a simple kopitiam next to the Starbucks that looks good.

The upgrading of the lights, chairs and decor are pretty nice.

I believe the whole air-traffic control facility is located in the same area. This is the most important installation for Malaysia and I do not see how someone can simply say "close it".

Furthermore, the existing runway is a very important infrastructure that should not be removed. It is capable of accomodating the current fleet of planes in use and thus is a valuable backup facility in the event of any emergencies.

There are more resons why the old Subang airport should remain functional but the 2 reasons above are sufficient

Would you like most folks here to offer you numerous reasons or you'd insist of figuring it out all by yourself?

when the gomen pour money into building KLIA, it is a clear indication that subang airport will be closed.
so, why continue to operate subang when KLIA is not fully utilized?

I remember there was so much brouhaha from neighboring residents for donkey years when SAS Airport was in full operation, just couldn't stand the aircraft noise, disturbing sleep lah, frightening babies lah, irritating lah, architectural cracks lah.. you name it..

Actually I've heard the exact opposite opposite about KLIA (esp LCCT) utilization. Its all not enough, they can't really expand and they're stumped for now. There's lots of hidden issues we don't hear or not allowed to hear.
Mine is from hearsay..it remains hearsay.

Because KLIA is too far and very expensive if you take taxi.

Even going to Singapore by bus is less expensive than taking taxi to KLIA.

Hi guys,

If Im from Court 9, how do I take public transportation to Subang Airport?*Take Metro13 or RapidKL U63/U67 from Court 9, get off the bus at the Federal Highway, at Seri Setia and take the pedestrian bridge across the Federal Highway. Wait for RapidKL bus U81, which takes you to the airport.

*Alternatively, you can take T523 to Subang Carrefour, walk to the KTM station, take KTM Komuter to Setia Jaya station, walk to the bus stop, and take U81.

*Firefly will soon be operating a shuttle from KLIA to Subang. I will see if it is possible to convince Eddy Leong to have the shuttle bus make a stop at Subang Parade/Carrefour.

*Also, with the opening of the Subang-Kelana link next month, it will be possible for RapidKL to run a bus from USJ directly to the Subang airport. I will suggest that they consider this as an option for the future.

Cheers, m

The reason is clear.... MONOPOLY by certain taxis / limousines thus ordinary taxis that take you there have to charge you more to cover their return trip and toll without passengers. ASk who own these 'special' taxis / limousine companies and this thread will become government and UMNO bashing thread... :)

shd just close it, too many housing estate being built too near the old airport.

Those housing estate and golf courses WERE supposed to be the runway reserve to expand Subang Airport. Just that somebody sold them / gave them away first, so no place to expand the airport / runway.

for what ever reason, there is no U turn for subang airport, it is too close to all those newly built houses.
so move ahead to KLIA.

this thread in the Skyscrapercity.com forum has up to date info and photos of the airport.

As for the poor public transport, there is a bus that passes the airport. You just cannot go directly from USJ to the airport by bus....yet.

I really missed the unique Terminal 1, which has been quietly demolished without even a notice. :( It is sad to see such a nice terminal gone. I haven't see the Terminal 1 in my life and I only have been to the nonstrategic location KLIA sepang, which takes me 50 minutes to travel there!!!! I saw some photo in the net, if anyone can show me their own photo of the Terminal 1 I will be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Also when is Terminal 1 demolished?

here I have some photo that I found in the Internet:

Whatever it is I'm quite sure Subang or Shah Alam folks will be LEAST amused should the place be a fully busy airport again with planes flying over homes every few minutes, like a decade ago. Right or not?

No, this building cost $52,000000 to built, and it is demolished, I just feel that is a waste. I don't mind of having air traffic noise, like in London, the airport is very close to the housing and business district and no one in there make a fuss out of it.
