No, you are not covered by insurance unless you have a valid International Driving Licence.

You are covered by insurance only if you drive a Singapore-registered car on Malaysian roads.

Ohh thought it should be allowed. ..my Singaporeon friend always rented a car at the airport & drive with his spore licence. The car rental's cars are all Msian registered cars & I used to be told that it is not necessary to have an international driving licence if your stay is not more than 30 days

When I was in Paris, I had to do a small project in a small town in Amien for Coke Europe, about 200km further up north for 60 days. Hertz Car Rental stipulated for not more than 30 days unless I get an international licence. That was only in March / April recently....

I believe you don'nt need an International licence for 30 days for rental cars only.
