This few month there have few cases happen at street USJ 2/2H and these cases also happen near by my house.

There have 2 guys take motorcycle and grap those passer along the street and I don't think they have been catch by police.

Beside that there have some cases happen on myself too:
Case 1 (March 2007):
My parent decided sleep with open window at night and my dad was leave his wallet & mobile on table which just near by the window. When my dad awake was notice that his wallet and movile was lost and we guess the thief is stole it from window and luckily it has fence if not I think the thief will come in to our house.

Case 2 (July 2007):
My mum was told the theif has open our shoes rack try all the shoes and choose the most comfortable and fit size for himself. At last he has stole 3 pairs shoes of my dad. Before this I remember dad and myself was sleep around 2am till 3am but even we sleep so late and it stil happen on us.

Do you guys think we should come out good plan like USJ 11 area to protect ourselves?

Firstly I think the street lighting along the perimeter main road of USJ2 needs some improvement (ie. I mean the 1 lane road, not the major 3 lane road)..

improving the street lighting is a good idea...adding speed bump would help to reduce the speed of those motorbikes trying to speed off..if you noticed in USJ 2/5 where the bungalows are...they have their own security guards...

USJ 2/2H is indeed a notorious street. Many snatch bag crimes have taken place on this street. I have even seen notices hung on trees along this street to alert people about the snatch bag thieves. The main targets are college students who walk along this street to go to the colleges in Summit. I hope the police car would patrol this area more often. And more street lamps would be good coz the area is facing a playground and tend to be extremely dark in the evening.

Please give Chief Inspector Tuan Loi (012-4118843) an SMS or a call and explain to him about USJ2/2H. Ask if he can send his men to patrol the area more often.

As for the street lamps, give YB Hannah Yeoh a call and ask her which councillor to approach to get more lamps installed.

Will send a SMS to Tuan Loi requesting for more petrol in USJ area.

IMHO polices presences is a more effective deterant then street lamps.

I am not certain if setting up a guarded and gated community would be feasible in USJ2. It's a huge area and many exits. As it is close to Summit, it is also used by visitors to Summit to park their cars. I would say USJ2 is a very public area, with schools, shopping mall & college (nearby), surau and supermarket.

We do have community for social activities e.g. gathering, sports - qigong, taichi, line dancing. As for security community, I am not sure. If there's, I don't think it's working either coz I have not heard of it though I have stayed here for nearly 10 years.

Err buddies...these days the bad guys have since avoided many more areas such as USJ5/16/17/18/20/23/11 etc...
because such of these areas are now under "secured or fenced up" residential areas...

The bad guys would tend to target n prowl the remaining FEW "UNsecured or UNguarded" residential areas...
in search of easy prays...such as in USJ2/6/9/14 etc...
for carrying out their despicable acts of crime.

Logically thinking...such hideous criminal activities occurring on regular basis
in the targeted residential areas...would ONLY render the criminals themselves...
VERY vulnerable to being caught or exterminated...by the LOOOOOOOG arms of the law...
so to speak.

LOGICALLY thinking...or just WISHFUL thinking...that is.

There is a USJ 2 Rukun Tetangga but I think its meant for the 'upper class' USJ 2 (bangalow area) as I ve never seen any patrol or heard anything past 10 yrs.

For the crime prone area fronting the main road, its 'free 4 all'

I would say USJ2 is a very public area, with schools, shopping mall & college (nearby), surau and supermarket.

the exits/entrance can always be plan again...take for example the entrance to USJ 2/4 main road.perhaps the authorities could block the turning into it(from the opposite side of the road in Persiaran Murni, and make the drivers to make u-turn at the traffic light further up(turning to Taipan) to avoid a bottleneck at the USJ 2/4 entrance/exit from all angles.

i am quite sure that the entrance/exit can always be plan in a proper way...after all USJ 2 is big so the gated/guarded community can be divided/separated onto segments?

just my 2 cents of comment...

get a team of volunteers to send flyers to every hse and if possible knock on their doors and inform them abt the meeting and the set up of a rukun tetangga thingi. that's what ss15 pro tem committee did. and as you can see from YB Hannah's blog the attendance was superb, and it was only covering ss15/2 and ss15/3.

Last Thursday around 1pm, my friend's house in this precinct kena robbed. Three Chinese men armed with parang and gun confronted the occupants and escaped with valuables. I was there at the USJ 8 police station to assist her. Hers was the second case in the same area. She commented that she was in a way "lucky" to be robbed by Chinese robbers as they are very professional and came with a precise objective compared to others who do not know what they want and end up chopping up the victims leading to serious injuries or even death. And I kind of agree with her. The Indonesians are the worst lot. They would hack you first even before you realised that you are being robbed. And if there are females occupants, they would not hesitate to rape them. And lastly, they would not hesitate to kill if they have no way out. It is just frightening. I am surprised that she was very composed inspite of her great loss. I believed she has a very positive attitude. Don't cry over split milk especially those not caused by you.

Although I can't help with the date and venue fixing, I am willing to help with contacting the residents about the meeting. I have friends who are active with the exercise activities in 2 fields in USJ2. They can help with spreading the words. We can also have the posters pasted all over the fields where most residents go for their morning/afternoon exercise. I can help with that.

I am delighted to support the effort in making USJ2 a safe neighbourhood.

It is good that you are all looking at starting something good for your neighbourhood.

Just call Reuben to co-ordinate the function.

As with SS19 and SS15 you really need to have a few dedicated people to make this work.

It would mean a lot of walking the talk, another 10 years is really too long a wait.

My cousin's car front window was break by stone and the fella leave the stone beside the car. I don't know why the safety at USJ 2 is getting terrible. I really hope all the residents really can work on this together to protect ourselves.

Hi, I'm new to this site eventhough I have been living in USJ for the past 6 years.

Just last month, my son and 2 of his friends (age 14) were stop by 2 "dark-skin" guys along 2/2H. My sons lost his handphone (a very old one) and his friends, a feew ringgit.

Just want to know how can we stop all the crimes that has been happening in our area, even in broad daylight. These thugs are smart..they know that during the day, most of the men are out working leaving behind their families and maids to run the household chores. And this is the time when they get into their crime activities...

MasterQ

I have been observing the mushrooming of this gated and guarded communities in Subang Jaya/USJ. It is a knee jerk mentality. When an area starts to experience an increased in crime, residents especially the victims will start to lobby for a G & G community. What Chief Inspector Loi of Balai Polis USJ said when he was at the USJ 11/3 residents gathering is very true. He said, "Gated and Guarded Communities are not helping to reduce the crime rate in Subang Jaya. What happens is that the G&G Communities are pushing Crime to other areas in Subang Jaya, so crime in areas that are not Gated and Guarded are on the increase." Inspector Loi himself knows this as this is happening in the area under his men command.

So instead of setting up this G & G communities on a ad hoc basis, some concrete action has to be formulated. It has to be a holistic approach. Many residents are beginning to suspect whether people in the security industry is working hand in hand with the underworld to fast track the setting up of this G & G communities. Their focus now is on USJ 12 and USJ 2 and I can see that the residents in these two areas are getting paraniod. I will fully support G & G communities if the profile of the area is condusive.

Firstly, it must not inconvenient the public at large. This means the closing of roads do not impact greatly the right of way of others. A good example is USJ 16.

Secondly, it is manned by well trained personnel and managed well by the residents' committee. If I really want to create a fuss by insisting my right of way, I could have my way but many times I just gave way. Please train your guards on how to manage people. Don't let them derail this program.

Look at G & G communities as a last resort rather than the only solution to combat crime. Make the community a home to come home to rather than a fortress.

And of course many other factors play a role. Until and unless the state government come out with proper guidelines and regulations, G & G communities are still illegal. But many residents and authorities are willing to close one eye as we have one common enemy to fight and that is CRIME.

...I send out a leaflet to all the houseowners in USJ 2/5J & 2/5K... Sending out leaflets, brochures, newsletters ... anything in printed form ... is a sure-fire way to FAIL ! Never send flyers - we get so much junk mail, pieces of paper have a good chance of being trashed or put in the recycling bin.

The CORRECT way is to go door-to-door, talk to your neighbours. You should have your flyer with you to pass to them if they are interested. The flyer is only useful if they want to refer to whatever info like contact numbers and dates of meeting. Repeat - the flyer should be handed over on a face-to-face meeting at the gate, not dropped to the mailbox.

If anyone is not interested, you can mark their address as not interested. No need to waste time and paper in future in asking again. In all surveys and census, it never works on flyer-basis. Always talk to the people ... when you do, you will then be able to guage the proportion of interested supporters ... if you can't even get 80% support, forget it .. it will not get approved without 85% support anyway.

Moral of the story ... if you don't make that effort (walk and talk), you will be wasting your time. There is no easy way out

If what Chang said is true (85% for approval) then we might as well.......

IMO less then 70% are owner occupied.

I'm not just dropping off the leaflets, I had discussed with my neighbours bout the GnG idea when this tread was started and the leaflet is to notify them of the time, date and location of the meeting.

As a salaryman & new parent w/o maid, it is not condusive for me to go 'door to door' to speak to them during the weekday. If the meeting was next week then I can do the rounds during the week-end but it is on this Sat!

Hi KWChang

I beg to difffers. after sending the leaflets, I got connected with some neighbours. They agreed verbally. I request that each one of us to speak to our front, back, left & right neighbours but it just stopped there. How much can 1 person do ? You're talking about 30+ houses. At that time I had just shifted from 2/4. Maybe not that familiar with the neighbours then. In fact , in 2/4, Together with my neighbour who stay behind me initiated the whole "back lane" fenced up idea and it turned out successfully. That time was tougher, we need MPSJ approval, TNB, BOMBA and TELEKOM.

The neighbour whose house was broken into, they themselves were not interested.

My father actually meets up regularly at the hill park at usj 2/2 area. The group consistts of old pensioned men and they meet every evening for walks and chit chat. It is quite a sizeable group of about 10+ people from the neighbourhood.

I would encourage all those who would like to get in touch with usj2 folks to go to this park in the evenings and mingle with these group of pensioners. I'm sure many ware concerned with the security of the area.

Today, a neighbour in USJ2/2M had her gold necklace snatched while she was sweeping the beyond her gate. It was 10-ish in the morning. 2 men in a new-looking motorbike & decently dressed. The retired lady even had slashes on her arms that required stitches.

To all, please be careful when you are beyond the gate of your house. Be on alert of any approaching vehicle! Rush behind your gate if possible to avoid any snatch theft or potential robbery.
