Subject: SJ Alert EMS Discussion with Police regarding Mat Rempits

Dear concerned residents,

Can we sit down with the police this Saturday morning and have a discussion with them regarding the Mat Rempits problem. Can somebody volunteer to bring the map of Subang and we identify the favourite place and time they strike.? A comprehensive plan must be drawn to stop them from fleeing and all lubang tikus must be blocked. I suggest that a date must be set to meet the authorities and proper planning to be carried out. I believe kita terpaksa round up all of the motorcycles and do screening. We may not be able to apprehend them dutring thier acts but we may be able to catch the fish in the big net. Lets get a date to discuss with the police and we can input some ideas as the local resident understand the crime trend better. Its merely a suggestion. We will not only call the IPD and we may enlist IPK's help and maybe FRU or PGA. Please any suggestion for date and HAPPY MOTHERS DAY. ..........

cheers,
kuan

I took note of this article (below) in the SJ Echo...which brings up a useful and timely suggestion - the enforcement officers and Rela can also be used to patrol the streets and parks in our communities.

Every little bit helps - and since it would take 3-5 years to get more police personnel on the streets, the solution described below would be a good stopgap measure.

Hence I suggest that we also invite the Rela Coordinator and the chief of enforcement for MPSJ to this meeting on Sunday.

Cheers, Moaz

Local authority contemplates putting uniformed personnel on crime prevention patrols http://www.sjecho.com.my/?page=article&id=840

main points:

*MPSJ President considering using the uniformed enforcement personnel for crime prevention duty.

*It may be the first time a municipality would use enforcement personnel on active crime prevention patrols.

“We are seriously considering deploying some of our enforcement personnel to join the police and community in fighting crime.”

“Residents had recently made the suggestion to me to deploy enforcement officers on the ground for crime prevention. This is a good idea.”

*the officers could execute a citizen’s arrest.

Robert, be the first municipality to ban riding motorcycles in groups of 3 and above between 10pm and 8 am... don't worry about Tupai and his friends lah, they also have big MPVs! Moreover, they ride only on Sunday mornings and out of town rides to LOS. :D

The announcement of this adoption of the rule alone will scare away the Mat Rempits from coming into SJ/USJ/Puchong....

It was only last month that JKP1 organised a similar dicussion with the police. Heck! Even the CPO attended! We have yet to see the true results of what the PDRM wanna do/already did/still doing...

I am pretty sure PDRM knows where these robbers come from. Road blocks at USJ21 leading/coming out/in from puchong and similar roadblock at NPE near the toll would be sufficient to send a strong signal to the robbers (regardless of them coming in bikes or cars).

Then I can also bet you, that residents in SJ will bitch and bitch, like they did 3 weeks ago, that roadblocks are an inconvenience esp along the main thoroughfares! Roadblocks mess up their daily routine!

MPoV is that robbers are opportunists. They strike usually at the inner roads of SJ. Seldom on the main artery road.

But when SJ resident themselves are selfish/coward/tidak apa/turn blind eyes, when spotting these group of robbers on cubchai or camry or bmw, cruising aimlessly in their neighbourhood, then crime will happen.

Rempits are a separate issue. When Mat rempits rob, then they are robbers like any robbers. When they whizz & buzz around , they are simply a nuisance. Who are u to tell them that speed kills?

Stopping all bikes is not the solution. It is discriminatory! What do you have against the >6millions registered motorcyclists who need this mean of cheap transport to eke out a living? Are we now going to stop all cars when the robbers come in this mode?

Yang Betulbetul Benggang with kneejerk & discriminatory actions latotupaiGood point...but in the recent SJ Echo it became clear that someone is ready to do something - in this case it is the MPSJ that wants to put its enforcement officers on crime prevention patrols.

Alot of people say that the police dont have enough personnel to do crime prevention patrols....they cannot walk the beat...

but what about police + MPSJ enforcement officers + local rela + local RT, working together day and night?

That is what this meeting on saturday should be about - setting up a plan for action...and signing up volunteers.

Cheers, m

It is with much regret that I have to inform all residents that the proposed meeting with the Police on Saturday 09/05/2009 at Inti College has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

I will post the date of a new meeting with PDRM once it has been arranged.

Thousand apologies.
