When we buy recon car, it came with original dark colour....it is not even tinted with film. Then JPJ ruling said that it need to be as white as a sheet. When i argue with them. They even told me that "Your Salesman Stolen your White Window!!!"

Look at all the car beside you, most of those recon are originally black. Why do they create such UNREASONABLE & USELESS RULING. For what? To create "biz" opportunity??

I have a 3-door Pajero GDI with original black tinted glass on the back three pieces of window. They are noe changed to normal white windows (original) and come with demister etc., why?

When it was first brought in by Naza, it had black windows on the back 3 pieces. Naza had to change it otherwise cannot register so they brought in specially 3 original clear windows.

I also have an MPV with original black windows but it was registered. When I sold it after 4 years to a friend and it had to be sent for inspection by Puspakom, he had to change all the windows. Bringing in the original ones cost him an extra RM6,000 or pay RM500 to somebody kautim all.... your call!

The last time I sent my Freelander for inspection, it was really a frustrating experience. I was given 2 choices :

i. inspection approval plus tear out all the dark tints... (FOC)

ii. inspection approval plus only the back three pieces intact (RM200)

It was sad to see they tore out all the tints when I chose Option 1.

in the first place, why would U, AhSeng/AhLian-nobody wanna have black tinted car? Plus u DUH driver sumore? What U carrying a load of illegals perhaps? seatful of roast-ducks?

unless u a VIP (highly unlikely!), u r attracting unnecessary attention from the jpj&pdrm road block and asking for hassles of getting a summon or being enticed to corruption?

Buy that recon car if u want, just get the salesman to change the windows...else, go to the next shop lah. DUH!

That is not a fair statement lah, brader. What you are propagating is the VIPs and rich folks can do this and that and the ordinary man-on-the-street cannot? If I read you correctly, you are blaming the ordinary car owners of asking for trouble... whilst the VIPs and rick people can get away?

We all pay taxes and we all vote for this government and I am sure we have our rights too... if they don't allow tinted glasses, then implement the law fairly and squarely but not only on selective persecution....

Agree with Sentinel here....

First of all the gomen need to answer what is the basis behind the rule?

What is the statistics for runaway theft being caught with tinted and non tinted?

Personally I dont see any different if the thief's car being tinted or not, its not going to be easy to identify a person inside the car.

Despite so many cases pending even with direct contact with a criminal...

Tinted glass which didnt allow 70% of light passing thru is considered illegal lah. This had been mentioned/broadcasted often enuff. (we r not to know the Ys cannot tint lah...bcos we voted in this gomen, a knowledgeable gomen who likes to treat us a s blur sotongs!)

titled VIPs (not all rich fellas are vips lah!) have exemption and that too, they need to apply for it. Its not automatic.

Caveat Emptor. AhSeng & AhLian being ignorant of the law, is no excuse. Yes, I blame blur sotongs for choosing to be blur sotong... :p

The unfair/injustice/unequal practice by jpj/pdrm during roadblock is a separate issue lah.

Me/ I drive a 2nd hand Russian T51 tank, turbo-version. No need tinting, No one can see the inside :D

Forget about black tint. Even these "JPJ-Approved" tint guaranteed by these tinting co's are not even JPJ-Approved, and they are clear as daylight. I recently went for inspection at Puspakom, it failed the test, ie 75% light penetration as opposed to JPJ's 70%. Puspakom instructed that the windscreen film be torn before they give a "Lulus". Only the windscreen. When questioned, the guy said they only test the windscreen, all other windows, they don't care and they can be opaque for all they care. Not sure how true that is.
That being done, I went back to the window tint co., told them the story, and to insist on a free replacement. Surprisingly, the co. said, oh it's a common phenomenon, and replaced it FOC without a fuss, saying it's still within the 5 year warranty. This time, I had to choose a much lower tint. :( So hot nowadays.

I was referring to selective persecution. I was also talking about unfair implementation of the law. Not all VIPs got exemption.

So, basically I was referring to 'what is' and 'what should be'.

Oh it also doesn't mean every Ah Seng and Ah Lian have to drive T51 just because you drive one. Everyone has a right to drive a car with tinted glass if approved and should not be subjected to unfair enforcement.

And if the tinted glass on recond cars are not allowed, don't approve the APs, simple as that.

There is no such thing as a JPJ approved tint. They will test your windscreen with the tint film applied and if the light transmission is less than 70% it will fail.

All windscreens come with some tinting (i.e. it does not transmit 100% of light) so anything you add will reduce the transmission.

Aiyah... this is where the system went wrong. But this thread is on 'heavy' tinting lah.

Of course, every1 can drive what they want but when i went out and bought something with a borderline legalthingy, then i am expecting to be forever, face-off with the 'bullying ,bias & blur sotong' enforcement officers...

AP on recons with heavy tint? Aiyah again, separate issue lah.

I too have had my more than fair share of been stopped/questioned on the legality of Juicy Lucy's SuperTrapp :p

The recent boleh-development, all our full face imported helmets meeting USA, UK, OZ, Japo safety standards BUT no malaysia-boleh sirim sticker are deemed unsafe & illegal, and can be confiscated at any roadblock! how then?
