What is the point of demolishing toll at NPE and Salak Expressway and they want to increase the toll. And still want to increase the toll. Now the economic is in a downturn and want us, the rakyat to suffer for higher toll rate?

As long as its owned by the concessionaires, we're all subjected to toll increase one time or another, regardless of economic situation. The terms in the contract will be executed anyhow. The rakyat gave them the mandate on a plate and allowed signing lobsided contracts. We deserve what we got!
Lets not whine about it...keep quiet and cough up if anyone choose to use those roads. Didn't one former works head honcho say, "wanna use, pay lah!"

North-South Expressway (Plus), Sprint, Ampang Elevated Highway, Sg Besi Highway, and New Pantai Expressway.
Hell... they take down the toll which is least used... let everyone in that neighbourhood cheer... then proceeds to SCREW the rest of us that cannot help but DRIVE THRU the main toll booths...
Hell, you can't even make a legal RIGHT turn to use the underside of the OLD KLANG RD to avoid the Sunway toll...
17 million for some stupid condos can spend... but still bleed the rakyat with the toll. come to think of it - spend billions for two submarines [which would probably never be used] but cannot BUY back those blood sucking CONcessionaires...

I have seen the Agung's Rolls Royce at the Jalan Duta toll...and his vehicle went through a regular lane which was cleared out by the outriders.
I think some people were moved through without paying toll to clear the way for the Agung.

You see folks, lots of deficiencies like public transport, services and whatever are to the disappointment of the rakyat. Monopoly companies rule and bring revenue back to the ruling regime somehow, someway, backdoor, sidedoor, its loose loose for the rakyat. You're all CORNERED to use pay for facilities to keep up, and they serve to patch the deficiencies in the country. No need to be forewarned that the situation will be status quo and snail paced progress for a long time to come. If there's just as good alternatives as with roads and public transport, you bet the rakyat will take advantage to the fullest and these monopoly companies will loose money. Observe at some of the ongoing road projects or road widening works around?, Do you see millions of workers industriously working to complete the project sooner than expected?. YOU'RE ALL SCREWED to the max! Enough said.

Last time, when they imposed the toll at Jalan Cheras, DAP led a massive protest attended by thousands.
Now, with this 5% increase in toll charges, especially the North-South Highway, everybody just buat bodh and diam-diam saja.
Malaysians deserve to be bullied and made to pay.
Why? Because history and experience tells us lorry transporters will up their rates and fresh supplies, consumer goods and veggies are going to cost more soon.
What is the point of a second economic stimulus, tell me lah!

The Works Minister confirmed that the government compensated the toll concessionaires RM245 million for 2008 for not increasing the toll rate last year.
My question is this - since you are going to introduce the much-touted RM70 billion second economic stimulus, why can't you just pay RM245 million for another year rather than to allow the rakyats to suffer?
To think that this toll increase will definitely lead to price increases of essential items and cost of living!
I am wondering who's advising the government?

As for NPE, actually they demolish one toll actually makes no difference ?
They took out RM1.60 toll but they going to increase other toll to RM2. A 40 cents hike. There are about 5 tolls along NPE. So 40 cents x 5 = RM2. Old toll rate is 1.60, thus they are making extra 40 cents. So whats the diff..
Well the diff is WE are the one that is going to suffer. Haizzzzzzzzz...... Gomen asked us to understand them but do they understand us. 70 billion might as well use to buy over LDP, PLUS and NPE. Rakyat happy !!!!!!!!!

Without the majority, this piece of proposed legislation will be recorded in the Hansard once raised but remain just that.

I am not sure if you are old enough to have heard of Tan Sri Dr Tan Chee Koon? That was one MP who was really "pak si bo chow" attitude...
YB Lim Kit Siang was also quite fiery in his own right besides his other colleagues Karpal Singh, the late P. Patto, V. David and the Seenivasagam brothers from Ipoh.
There was one up and coming one in the early 90s ie Wee Chee Keong, now with PKR, but somehow he simmered down, wonder why?

Errr.. I think you may be only half right. 50 years of dominance and lobsided acts working in their favor have made life very difficult for any opposition MP's to gain an upper hand. Even the current best opposition individuals are not really making any headway, except to reduce the majority. Secondly, I'm sure you've heard of Fed gahmen dilly dally tactics that seem to block or hamper any progress or good proposals. They hold the money bags anyway and are untouchable even if opposition takes power. Its all been laid out!.. we're DOOMED, which is likely an understatement. If we avoid TOLL, we are just giving ourselves headache & wasting time. Most of the TOLL, are strategically placed BEFORE going to IMPORTANT PLACES.
Is KESAS highway still the MOST EXPENSIVE ONE?...The Sunway Toll & Awan Besar Toll cost RM4.40 within such a short distance.
I witness some people avoid paying toll by following the car-in-front at a very close distance. Then rush through the toll booth TOGETHER before the barrier is DOWN.

How about refusing to pay toll when the highway is jammed? After all we pay toll supposedly to have a smooth and fast drive to our destination, not to get stuck in a jam before, at and after the toll plaza (as at Sunway every morning).
Malaysia must be the only country in the world that forced the citizens to pay toll just to be stuck in a jam. (eg. sunway LDP) Arrggh...

Didn't I say you ultimately get little value and shortchanged anyhow.
They're only postponing the issue. It'll be double whammy when time's up!.

The whole thing is so damn stupid. Like the contracts with the IPPs, the toll concessionaires practically can raise their rates every year. Wonder why the ex-PM Tun Dr M is so quiet?

Looks like the PM has lived up to his reputation again. He is now saying the toll increase may be reversed....

Perhaps if the right ppl protest, the toll can be removed. If the ppl looks like old folks, and children, not working class type - then, perhaps the toll booths may go. :D
Then all right ppl in ISA.. consider kumpulan haram :D

Please someone pass the message to YB Hannah Yeoh!!
It is very disappointing when eveything we say are turn to deaf ear. Complain & complain doesn't seems to work. Malaysian attitude...."3 MINUTES HOT-HOT" or some say "JUST KAIPOH" only.
Then at Kesas spped is only 90km-- After sri petaling they stop u and said u over speed & give u 1 yok kon (summon) or u give kopi ;)

I think when YB Lim drove past the toll without paying one day, he was summoned. If you can drive past the motocycle lanes, maybe you might escape the toll :D

BINGO!!!
Heck... if he had not said anything and allowed the TOLLs to go up... even 10,000 postals votes will not be enough to ensure or get the "required" results... :p

the Gomen are taking care of their own... no? when they should be doing things in the interest of the Rakyat first....

USJ27Resident :) , Any good reason why it (buy back) cannot be done?
Some lobbying here:
Buy over highways and save taxpayers money (http://www.ngobalakrishnan.com/main/?p=485)
Maybe we can try to understand what Tony Pua is trying to say here.
We Want Our Highways Back! (http://tonypua.blogspot.com/2009/01/lets-take-our-highways-back.html?showComment=1231201140000)
I have not done any mathematics, maybe someone can do the maths with all the information available in these articles, including this one:
PLUS stands to make RM25 billion (http://www.themalaysianinsider.com.my/index.php/malaysia/15350-dap-plus-stands-to-make-rm25-billion)
Cheers!

Remember to join PKR anniversary 21 March at Shah Alam Stadium.. See what all the YB speech.. Now my water bill a month just about Rm 4 only.. Hopefully 4 years later .. Malaysia under PKR.. maybe no tol at all.. Example Cheras mahkota resident can have 2nd access road without paying tol after PKR incharge...
After checking out the saga tol ! got 20 % under selangor govn - (toyo punya pasal) ..

Something is wrong with the mentality of the people at the Federal Government about money. To them, it seems like the taxpayers' money in the treasury is their money.
What is wrong by buying back the toll concessions (or even the IPP contracts) even if cost billions of ringgits and then reduce the toll (or power rates) as these will put back some purchasing power in the hands of the people and increase their propensity to spend and raise domestic consumption, which are all good for maintaining the economic growth.
I just don't get it. Perhaps they need to "look after" the toll concessionaires and the IPP producers more than loking after the rakyats. You read between the lines....

Exactly what I said in my earlier post... what on earth were those elected to serve the Rakyat doing/thinking - signing MoUs and agreements that would be in the best interest of the concessionaires instead of the Rakyat... where were their priorities... Sometimes it make you wonder [ doesn't really take a genius to realise] why these YBs* actually wanna become politicians...
That's the question - did the Gomen represent the CONcessionaires or did the Gomen represent the Rakyat...??? If ANY agreement had needed to be signed - wouldn't be in the best interest of the Rakyat instead of some freaking business entity???
What is the meaning of YB? Yang Berhormat, Yang Berkhidmat or Yang Banggang!
22 years of mismanagement have spawn too many personal agenda, party agenda and screw the rakyat agenda.
