View Full Version : Donating hair for wigs

My kids have heard of hair donation programs in the US for making wigs. Most of the time, the wigs are meant for cancer patients who are on chemotherapy treatment.

I searched the web and only found related websites in the US. They are interested to donate their hair. Does anyone here know of a similar program here in Malaysia?

My mom is a hairdresser and I have searched high and low for such program here but to no avail. :( My mom's shop produces at least a "carrefour" size bag of hair daily...

From what I know, there's a minimum lenght for the donated hair. some specified 8 inch minimum, some 12 inch minimum. Anyway, u can't make much of a wig out of short hair.

see this: http://www.cancer.ca/Ontario/Support%20Services/Community%20services%20directory/Hair%20donations.aspx?sc_lang=en

Yup, the websites I've visited asks for 8 - 10 inches from the nape of the neck. Looks like we have to bag the hair and send to the US.
