Hi Just check whether anyone here drives or owns a Kia Sportage 95-04.

I own one (a 2000 model) but do not have the owners manual. Can anyone who owns one make a copy for me. Be glad to pay for costs.

Thank you.

Nah... no luck. Ebay has them but based on American left hand drive models only.

A google search revealed this.
Download and get it printed out.

Direct link to owner manual in pdf.

Website: http://www.kia.ca/page/owners_manual

The download speed?.. I think you'd scream at screamyx.

I did ask the spare parts shop but they confirmed that such manuals are not available for sale.

As for KIA car dealer/showroom... aaaaaahhhh.... don't ask me to go there. They are probably the most unhelpful/unsmiling people around. Perhaps you can even use the words "aksy" (spelling?) I know because I've been to 2 and none of them seemed interested in helping a customer.

So... if you ask me to buy a brand new KIA.... no lah... unless they drop the price by 50%.

Yes I did chewie, under ipohmali.

Hoping that someone might just have a copy. I don't need the ori copy, just a photostated and bound copy will do.

Right now downloading a copy but I see is for left hand drive. Stremyx is really damn slow.

But I would prefer a local right hand drive copy any time.

I bought the car second hand last year but didn't have the manual, so for example, I can only guess at the mileage when I need to change the auto oil etc.

LHD or RHD, essential data and instructions are similar. Better than nothing?
AFAIK, workshop or service manuals are like gold to the local distributor service center, and they won't sell you any. Very selfish culture.
Decades ago when I owned a Ford Telstar 2.0, I asked my mom on a trip to Melbourne, and she bought the factory service manual for me for about A$30 direct from the dealer. No questions asked. Everything you want to know about the car inside out is all there, right down to the last detail in a 3" thick book . I happened to see Ford Concessionaires mechanics referring to the same book when needed. There I asked if the book for sale, NO WAY Jose!.. one workshop, ONE book...thats it!.
Haynes Workshop Manuals is another source of detailed info. I think there's hardly or none here in Malaysia anymore.

BSLee,

I've checked. Haynes does not have the service manual for KIA Sportage. That's why I am searching for the owner's manual that comes with the new car.

Needless to say an owner's manual is very general, basic essentials of roughly what, where and how. Its of course detailed engine tuning or overhaul proceedures ain't documented in an owner's manual. What is it you're looking for?

Yes an Owner's Manual is just what I need for the time being. The stuff you mentioned is not necessary as I'll just leave it to the workshop.

Funny thing is, most workshops are not so used to servicing this type of car. Last year I went to change my auto oil. He jacked up the car and then asked me...

"Brother, where's the autogear oil pan?"

I choked on the teh ais I just 'ta-pau'ed earlier from the mamak shop.

Needless to say I haven't gone back since.

Hahah!.. I tremble and cringe when the mechanic picks up a 3 pound hammer.

Lee, Just glanced through the manual I downloaded. Seems like there are a lot of things I don't even know about my car... like the fact that the backseat can be reclined. Tot it can only be folded forward.

Thanks pal.
