As a resident of Subang Jaya since 1980, I have seen new & old residents claiming public road shoulders in front of their hiuses as their private compound. They went on to put flowering pots, plant fruit trees and paving the shoulders with expensive tiles. I don't mind what they are doing but I some time cannot find parking space for visitors' cars. Are SJ residents a selfish lot?? Let's put this for discussion.

Don't worry. I will send in photos of public land invaded by residents.

There is one corner house owner at USJ 2/5K covered the entire corner with exora plants that grows out at least a feet to the road thus creating a blind spot for bicycles and cars entering the road. It is very dangerous. Cars entering the road often make a bigger turn to avoid the plant and “makan” into the right side of the road thus creating danger of accident for vehicles approaching the junction. My kids who were cycling nearly got knocked twice by these vehicles.

I have seen many complaints with regards to this problem even in the news paper but wonder why no action from MPSJ.

I assume, could it be that these complaints were nothing but rantings on usj.com.my? BUT not thru properly filed complaints at MPSJ office and cc to the JKP incharge of your kawasan??

With reference numbers, u can then put a BIG burning candle under the jkp and councillor's cushy seat...no?

Do it right and do it now :D

Thanks for the information. I will do my part. No time to take photos yet. I want my subang Jaya residents to be aware of their selfishness and inconsideration of their neigbour needs as well. The whole community must practise the give and take policy. The roadsides belong to the public and not to the owners the houses. OK

Are SJ residents a selfish lot?? Let's put this for discussion. :mad:Err buddy Wong...along some OLD or RECENT neighbourhood roads...
road curbs were of standard feature then...
built around the corner lots...n at times between the terrace
houses...

You have been a long time resident 1980...you would know exactly what Orchi is pointing at...

Instead of leaving the shouldered space/area bare empty then...
the developers themselves had planted trees on such spots...
as measures to beautify the neighbourhood n provides...
much needed shades.

Yes...those are public road shoulders or curbs...
BUT the LAST THING they were meant to be...
are to serve as parking lots...

That said...it could equally be selfish of someone who might want to drive
their cars...or have their visitor's cars drive up those road curbs which
are MOST certainly be built at a considerable height...that were NOT
meant to be so...to begin with.

It would certainly be selfish of some neighbours...who would park their
OLD junks or abandoned vehicles by the side of the road...for years...
right next to these road shoulders or curbs...

How would you feel...if you were Orchi's immediate or close neighbours...
n Orchi decides to drive UP a couple of cars...
over the road shoulders or curbs...where you or your wifey or parents...
have painstakingly been maintaining beautiful flower beds...
on those road shoulders or curbs...right in front of your house...?

Sure...if there are empty spaces by the roadsides next to the road curbs...
by all means...do park your vehicles there on temporary basis...
or share the roadside space with your neighbours who might need to use it...
temporarily also...

Just don't start accusing somebody of being selfish...unless you are NOT
being referred to...as one.

Thank you for being more considerate...
