Dear forumers

We are trying to set up a Neighbourhood Watch in USJ 6 to address issues related to safety and security vis-a-vis rising concerns over crime incidents occuring in this precinct of late.

A group of residents have met for a prelim discussion on measures to enhance safety & security practices ... however, the group would like to engage more USJ 6 residents (home owners/tenants) for future networking and communications on related issues.

To start off, we would like to build up a database of USJ 6 residents and would appreciate USJ 6 forumers (reading this post here) to please contact the USJ 6 NW group at the following email: usj6folks@gmail.com

In your email, please state:
- your name
- address (you can just give us the road location, if you so wish)
- phone contact (preferred)
- email address

Info provided will be kept confidential by the administrator of the USJ 6 email-group.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

From: eileenc on behalf of the USJ 6 NW group

I am a resident of USJ 6 and have sent my details to the mentioned email but still no reply after more than a week. Is this for real or some one just wanted to build a contact list for some other reason???. Sorry for bringing this up and just have to be careful nowadays.

Hello there,
I agreed with vow and chookyan too! I have just moved to USJ6 few months ago. Please email me at janice_2k@hotmail.com. I would be pleased to share my details. Please keep me updated on the Neighbourhood Watch/Security issues since I am new here.

Also, am pretty impressed with USJ 11 and 5's security facilities & gated community. Is there, by any chance, we could have something similar in USJ6 too?

Thanks and have a great day.

Eileen has good reasons for not getting back to you guys as yet.

What with the recent demise of Tuan Foo and the upcoming Balik Kampung Rumah Selamat Campaign etc... So things are moving pretty fast for her these few weeks.

Wait a little, I am sure she is just as eager to get in touch with everyone.

Hello there,
Not sure if this is an appropriate place to enquire:
I wonder if there is any chance of having some sort of gated community in USJ 6, something like our neighbour -- USJ5? Possible to have it in sections within USJ 6? Or security guards? With the criminal rate increasing, I am really worried that we'll be another USJ 2 :(

Cheers

Hi, I do not receive Eilleenc's updates so far. Appreciate if anyone could enlighten me on this?

I am hoping for not only a bike patrol twice, but something more, like a guardhouse/gated areas like USJ5. This is because I got frightened by bike patrol whenever driving along the areas during late nights thinking that they are up to something bad :o.

Hi all,
I saw the banner hanging near the basketball court that Hannah Yeoh is having a community meeting next Sat, 7 Nov. Just wondering if anyone has any idea what's the purpose of the meeting and if anyone here is going to attend? Am hoping that some residents are interested with GnG and if Hannah could help the USJ6 residents in getting this?

I will not be around town during next weekend. Otherwise I'd love to attend (I haven't attended one so far). Can someone please share their experience and advice? Probably to keep us, USJ6 residents, update about the issues discussed after that?

Thanks.

Hi all,
I just noticed that a few lanes in USJ 6/2 now have security checks (a cone placed at the entrance of the lane and a security guard standing by the road side) last night. I didn't get any notice nor bulletins of this new implementation. So am wondering if we are required to pay a monthly fee for this? We are totally fine with it. In fact, we'd be even more glad to pay for a full-fledge GnG if the residents along our lane agree to it ;) . Can someone please enlighten us? We are fairly new in USJ 6.

Thanks.

Like Janice I would be most happy to join and contribute but how??? I stay in USJ6/5. Initally eillenc contact some of us but nothing happen. My question is since USJ6/5 is fairly open and bordering Court 2, can we be included if USJ6 decides to have a full fledge GnG and what if only a few of us contributes???

Thanks.

will try to be there .. I have to send kids for class at 9 a.m. on the question of security, instead of GnG can we look at other options? I notice that places like Sunway have their own 'police'? Maybe some sort of auxiliary police or something, maybe trained by PDRM, can arrest. Maybe better than hiring foreign guards. Just a though, maybe there are constraints I am not aware of or it's implementation is difficult .

Tictactoe's suggestion on auxiliary police or PDRM is another good option too! In fact, this option ensures that the guards are well trained and not any foreigners without professional security-trainings. :D

Hello all,
Some neighbours and us were approached by a security petrol guy to ask us whether we are keen to sign up for their service to petrol the area for RM45/month last weekend.

What they are proposing is: a security guard is assigned to sit in the middle of the row of houses (at the entrance of a small alley). He will petrol along the road and backlanes on 30mins once from 8pm to 8am (something like this, i can't recall the exact time frame) and during the day, he will petrol on the bike on hourly basis. If he sees strangers or suspicious cars, he will stop them to check, and also to check on the cars parked outside of our homes.

My questions are:
- Does anyone here have the similar experience?
- Just wondering if this security company is trustable and how effective can this be? I think its called Sentral Security Management S/B, based in USJ11 or something like that. I left the form at home so I can't get the exact name.

Could someone please share their opinions on this?

Thanks in advance.

I stay in USJ6/5 and have not been approached. At the town hall meeting last Saturday, Hannah mentioned that currently there are 3 security companies providing such services in USJ 6. If I have not mistaken one for USJ6/1, another for the USJ6/2s and another for USJ 6/6 and this should be consolidated.

Hi there,
I agree with Chookyan, if there are 3 security companies running concurrently in usj 6, it would be better to consolidate them. By the way, I am in USJ 6/2.

So, there is no definite timeline as in when GnG to be implemented in USJ 6? or whether this would not be implemented at all?

I am amazed at this reporter - how can did he/she come to the conclusion?????

A SHOW of hands at a town hall meeting for the USJ 6 neighbourhood indicated that most of the residents did not want a gated and guarded community.

I was there and Hannah did ask for a show of hands and the number of people who put up their hand to support GnG was less than a 1/4 of those who attended.

I know many of you are worried sick about the high crime rates and it's time to do something while waiting for the police to act.

I have lots of stories about our police force and so have my friends.

All I can say is do be very careful young people. This is the time for opportunitists to capitalise on our fears and instead of doing a proper job, people will come in and give you bogus guards.

See my other comments.

You all may end up with bogus guards who may actually be the crooks and getting out will be difficult.

It's just like a cancer patient/survivor. While the good doctor can help you with radiotherapy and chemotherapy etc, you must ultimately change your lifestyle like healthier diet, exercise etc and more importantly doing things right and pray to the Heavens and if you are Christians, Muslims etc, pray to
God or Allah.

As it is, do have some consideration for people who hate to see their beautiful USJ turned into a "zoo" of frightened residents. By caging up, criminals will not see that we are fighting back but cowering in fear.

Do you see people refusing to come out after the London bombing? People stood up and took the subways, trains, taxis etc. Their life has to go on.

I have been a victim of two burlgaries and one robbery but yet I will not have all those silly GnGs restrict my movement. It definitely will not deter any criminals from coming to our neighbourhood. Stop kidding yourselves!

On the contrary, you are inviting strangers into your enclaves just like having maids- who are strangers into your homes. Let's instead send home a united and strong message to our BN government and the police force to protect us. We pay taxes and they must do their job.

Yes, I can hear people swearing that their maids are like family. I have two houses and me and wife do all the housework. We never have a maid and we don't need private guards.
We will fight tooth and nail those who force us to live in a dubious caged GnG.
Don't just throw your RM50 around and expect people to accept your kind of "prison"..just like you throw your RM550 or RM700 to employ a maid to do your dirty work and then cry blue murder when your maid burns down your house, abuse your child or have an affair with your husband!

Dear Chookyan,

Why are you amazed? I am from USJ 4/1 and I WILL sue anyone who turn my area into a prison.

You are still young. You don't know nor understand the deeper things in life.
I do not want to see our GnG also being used for political ends. People may control or influence the RA which in turn controls the residents- I suspect it's not just about security.

Just look at how aggressive some RA committee members are- they are also very arrogant- some didn't even bother to inform the residents and already put up barriers etc.

Well done USJ6 residents. Rise up the silent majority! Face the criminals and don't hide behind false barriers!

The GnGs are all ILLEGAL!!!
