Subject: SJ Alert EMS Break-in at Goodyear Court 10 in USJ14
hi,my apartment at USJ 14 goodyear court 10 is broken into yesterday (20/11/2008) during heavy rain, and no one is in house, my lost is gold chain and a new handphone. i suspect is the insider who is living or working in goodyear court 10, because the thief seem to know well too familiar with our thing, and schedule.
my grill is cut and the lock is being jack, i think the heavy rain cover the sound because my neighbor living next door, said doesn;t listen any sound beside rainning and thunderstorm
I live in Court 9 and Ive always believed that apartments are harder to break into than landed houses.
This is scary and I travel most of the time. So far, nothing has happened but I need to take precautions. Can anyone provide me with precautions with regards to staying in an apartment?
Is it wise to inform the guards to do a check on my unit every night?
I have 2 padlocks on my main grill.
What else is there?

vsat..do not inform the security guards. just leave your place as normal. padlock your main grill. inform your trusted neighbours....best is turn on some lights at your home, if you are away for a long time, pass your keys to your friends and ask them to come to ur place and stay there for a few hours...at least to let people know there is people there...

..do not inform the security guards. You got that right. Exactly my sentiments, Chewie.
Why can't I trust the guards??

It's just a gut feeling...maybe I watch too many Hollywood movies where the bad guys are the guards! :p Perhaps, unless you know all the guards personally, then it should be ok, I guess, But that's just me, of course. Go with your instincts, buddy.

at times, we would not know who is the main culprit as you know we are all human, at times when people ask you 'where you go lar, long time no see' for sure you will answer 'yeah lar..go outstation to work larr', then their next question is 'wah so good arr...sure your boss will ask u to go again' then by default you will answer 'yeah lar..next month on what date and coming back on what date lorr'...
that time when you talk, you are not aware that there are people around you...and maybe those people are the one that listening ...
so better becareful lor... just a precaution..

Is it possible for all those staying in Goodyear Courts to ask their RAs, JMB or MC to get in touch with me? I think we should send a combined delegation to the Management to talk to them on this issue of security. And if there is no immediate improvement, we should then call for a press conference to "wash" the dirty linen in public.
This doesn't sound good especially with the long breaks this month and next month.
Robertec,
What was the management and security department response to your case?

It was not "my case" per se, I was just re-posting an SJ Alert email sent in by one of our members.
