HI all,
Well as the CNY is nearing, would like to know where to buy folded LOVE LETTERS (kuih kapit)... I am looking to find those smooth, crispy and melts in the mouth type, not too sweet but with great egg and coconut milk aroma...

Also where to get those yummy pineapple rolls/cookies which is really buttery and also melts in the mouth type but with as least vanila flavoring as possible?

Use to make them every year but kinda tired this year so thought of buying them. Maybe someone can recommend where to buy these cookies? My family likes those made with pure butter and not planta... as we like the rich taste of english butter cookies type.

:D Yup...Christmas is like a blink away although there is about 1 month time and CNY is one month after C'mas.... :)
Well...its time to look around now coz with trial and error on individual tastebuds, i may not get it at on recommendation. Hubby and kid very fussy over food and if taste not up to their expectation, the whole tin can be left untouched!! Well, I have to do my best to find something nice or else last minute I have to bake them myself.. :(

Saw an advert...says IKEA has life C'mas Tree for sale...

Have you thought of planting a life baby tree yourself.?

Mrs Tham, you can buy kueh kapit for CNY from a coffeeshop in Jalan Alor. The one that sells the famous seafood noodles. The taste is just like the home-made ones. Cukup eggs and santan for the extra ummph...

Mrs A Tham, I know a lady who does kuih kapit plus other cookies like peanut biscuits in Ampang, will you be interested? You can call her to check if she does it for Xmas, maybe buy a tin to try first. Last time I bought from her was last year, RM16 per tin.
If it's think it's up to your standard, then order more for CNY.
PM me if you want her no.

CNY is round the corner and while some of you look forward to exchanging recipes - I am one who will look forward to going around collecting angpow packets as a HOBBY. Todate I have approx. 2,000 different kinds, sizes, colours and some from China and Hong Kong.

Is there anyone who wish to give some away or exchange or some who is even kind to send me their company's angpow packet?

Haven't been to this part of town for well...about 5 years!!
Well will definately tryout your recommendation as I am looking for those with really cukup eggs and santan! I had tried many from SJ shops but still not what I am looking for.

Well, I know Alor has many many yummy food, esp the Wong Ah Wah CHic Wings, THe famous Seafood that you mentioned, the fried beef kueyteow and also one sotong kangkung at night (with lots lots of crushed peanuts and prawn paste!!) Those in taipan normally comes with more sweetened sauce than prawn paste!

Oh ya, I can't really find good delicious cendol in Subang! Well if you guys happened to be in Klang, do try out this cendol kiosk at the main road of Taman Eng Ann (they are of a hubby and wife team selling cendol and rojak)
and 2nd stall beside the fruit stall. These are the MPK Roadside Kiosk. Well, perhaps after that, someone can advice where in Subang we can get cendol like this?? And their rojak is anytime better than the SS15 legend!

And at night at the Berkeley Square, there's also the durian cendol....mmmmmmmm!!!

All I know is pork lard oil slowly added into the short crust dough, they didn't have butter in those days. (I mean long long ago). Thats the original secret. Use butter or margarine and the taste is going to be very different. I've seen the process during my teen days.
Sorry, but personally I don't consume p***. As for others, go ahead and enjoy it!

My friend from Klang helped me to get folded kuih kapit from her neighbour, an old lady, last year. This year I order from her again, I find that hers is not so sweet, not burnt and taste nice and original also. Dun ask me for the phone number cos I dun know. My friend helps me to get from her, she didt make profit, as a friend sake. The old lady sells at $15 for about milo size tin. She does not sell at any store, only to those she knows.

As for pineapple tart rolls. My sister-in-law is making and selling it. She sells at $26 per container. She does not make much, unlike those big scale type cos she is doing it alone as a hobby and pass time only. One day she can only make not more than 15 containers. I help some of my friends to get it from her cos they say hers are very nice and they know that it has no added preservative.

I can get the above for any of you but you have to let me know earlier cos as I know the stocks are limited. If I happen to go to Subang, I can help to deliver, or not you will have to come and collect it from my house at Puchong.

Please do not mistaken me, I am not selling. It is just happened that I had placed order for the kuih kapit and my friend has not collected from the old lady yet. I can just ask her to get some extra for me.

As for the pineapple tarts, my sister-in-law will do as per order plus a little bit extra for own consumption. So gotto let her know earlier, so she can source for the pineapple and othe ingredients.

Kuih kapit.. i can say is so far d best i had tried so far. Some are too sweet, some are too thick, some tasteless, some black black, some expensive ......

While pineapple tarts is up to individual taste, some like vanilla taste, some like cinnamon taste, so after you have tried my sister-in-law's one, pls tell me how many point she scores, hehehe

Hi guys, while hunting for those yummy kuih kapit in Jln Alor recommended by paragon, I bumped into a friend who recommended me this lady who makes homebake durian cakes....guess what?? She's from USJ. As my family loves durian, I thought I 'd try out the durian cake this lady bakes. Best thing is she sends/deliver her cakes to USJ/SJ Residents and charges only RM2.00/per address delivery despite the quantity. These durian cakes are being sold by the Lbs and according to local durian season as I was told she uses good quality D24 local durians and not thai durians. This friend of mine knows the lady personally and assured me she uses good quality ingredient like omega eggs, brown sugar, even golden churn/scs butter.
Tried one and it tasted sooooooo good!! You can really bite into chunks of durians. I bought 5 for CNY gifts and my relatives and friends just love it. Now I know where to get hot oven baked durian cakes. Oh yes, she is very particular about the quality of her cakes and she delivers them less than 3 hrs from the oven and only accepts order 1 week ahead.
Her cakes are not cheap but due to the quality stuff she puts in and the heavenly taste, believe me its worth every bite. We are throwing a party this Chap Goh May and my hubby is already reminding me to order some.
For those of you durian lovers who think of trying, youcan PM me for her contact. Better stop praising here or else people will mistaken I am advertising for her or I may have something to do with her. again mmmmmmm
