Folks,

Require your expertise advice in car alarms security, my cousin want to purchase a 2 way car alarm due to recent high vehicle stealing statistics. Below is the best list we find during our alarm hunting. He is driving a WIRA year 2000, 1.5A.

1) Viper 5901 = RM 1,950
2) Steel Mate 898G = RM 650

And the rest is other brands from China costing RM 600-700k which includes installation so as the aboves.

Anyone here has install Steel Mate or Viper, any advice to share ? advantages and disadvantages

Regards

2 way alarm is a both way communication (full duplex) frequency alarm using FM technology whereby you are able remote start the engine, monitor the car alarm status in the radius of 2-3km range and able arm and dis-arm the vehicle.

They come with LCD screen.

alamak! china stuff made for my ferrari ah?
sorry, no offence meant. you are talking about a year 2000 wira. fair enough, desparados will take anything they can lay their hands on. they aint gonna inspect the target to see it it has a viper or cobra or a 600k china alarm installed. 1st line of defense is deterent - as in visible steering lock. add in a gear lock too - not the standard proton one. if the car is really really wanted, no alarm or imobiliser system will keep the wheels on the ground, literally. they will come with a tow truck and be away before you can take a deep breathe. nothing wrong with those sophisticated and expensive systems - just let reality sink in a bit - even my Rm200 pasar road self assembly unit would deafen an uninvited intruder but it will not keep the tow truck operators at bay.

I hate car alarms. They don't deter car theft and they are always too sensitive sometimes causing nuisance. :(

i am using VAMP car security. It is better than 2 ways as it will alert me thru sms when my car's alarm went off. And i can check the status or lock or open the car anytime by using sms too. PLUS with the command centre only cost me RM180 per year..it is very affordable. Beside sms...the command centre will call me if alarm went off too.

Phone call is better than sms especially during the night which a u might overlook.

It gives me a piece of mind.
