What brand of water pump do you use in your house?

Currently we are using Panasonic. However, hubby is not too happy taking a shower when the washing machine is running cos the water pressure will become low.

We are considering the grundfos in future... but would like to know if there are any other brands out there? Has anyone used Hitachi water pump before?

just fitted a brand called the mypump (www.mypumpglobal.com)...around 1300 inc installation..pressure is very good now..dont know about long term

I have been using grundfos for my new house and almost a year now and still no complain. However make sure you get the right pump size for your needs.

Question: Why is there a need for a water pump?
Is it due to constant low water pressure from the mains or the internal piping is terribly scaled?
Is there a way to overcome this low water pressure without resorting to water pumps?

Err buddies...having too high of water pressure from the main supply tap...would cause water leakages to fittings n pipings...n worst would
be having burst pipe...

NOT a good idea to have it...unless you don' get enough water pressure from
the main tap...

Check 1st...to find out the actual reason why the main water supply to your
home is lacking water pressure...

It could be due to blockage before the main supply reaches your reservoir
tank under the roof top...

IF the reservoir is being "filled up" constantly...there should be no reason why
the water pressure from the tank can be low...unless it could be due to
blockages along the pipings from the reservoir tank to the shower...sink...
cistern...basin...etc. etc...

I installed a Nocchi pump several months ago. Have been having excellent showers since. Most pumps are noisy. The higher the price the less noise. Be aware that some pipes may need to be change due to higher pressure.

I face the same dilemma as LMei i.e. all other taps must be off when showering or else water pressure becomes really low. It is irritating especially while showering and someone decides to switch on the tap downstairs. Not only does the water slow to a trickle, the heater stop workin due to the low pressure.

Was thinking of getting a water heater w. a builded in pump. Would this be effective? An external pump is abit overkill since it only the shower thingy

I want to pick this conversation up again and hopefully there are some responses.

In Thailand, water pumps are standard items in every house because their tanky is on the group level. As a result pipe leaking is quite common. I was thinking of installing water pump too until I remember my experiences in Thailand.

But what about water heater with pumps? Are they any good?

Check if you have a water filter outside and if you have clean it recently :D it may be clogged. :)

I did and threw away the filter. Now, it is a filter-less water filter. :D But seriously, why would anyone want to put a water filter outside? A better place is under the kitchen sink, right? For cooking, drinking and washing of food.

Anyhow, I am on a look out for Hitachi pressure sensitive pump. In Thailand, Hitachi is very popular and for RM600.00 you can get a large and maintenance free pump.

Have moved to a new place and this time I installed Grundfos. It's much quieter than the Panasonic one I had and works better with all the taps in the house :D Furthermore with the Panasonic pump I still have the problem as stated in my first thread. Now I can have 2 people taking showers and have the washing machine running with no change to the pressure. The Grundfos was recommended by a contractor who installed it in my office previously. Was amazed I hardly heard it cos the Panasonic one is so loud and noisy. Anyway, my relative did not install water pump but used the water heater with pump. Doesn't make any difference at all especially at night when there are more people using the water. Pressure is still very low. So think of investing in a proper water pump if you need it.

Agree that Grundfos pump is very quiet. Mine activates itself only when water pressure is below a certain level but I can't remember how much. Very pleased with mine. No complaints.
