There was a power outage at USJ3ABCD from 12.30 a.m. to 6.00 a.m. Kiddies and I didn't get much sleep, what with the heat and mozzies. IRight now feel like I have cotton in my ears. Wonder if the other parts of USJ were affected.

USJ4 was out from midnite till 3ish. Appearently a cable exploded and they had to change the whole thing right away. If it was a normal GIS or VCB trip, power would have been restored within the hour.

Must be the hot weather and many pasang air-cons (including many new ones being installed) busting the cable!.
I've stayed at USJ 9 for 10 years and have felt breakdowns, blackouts at least 2-3 times each since 1997, perhaps improved last 2 years.

I stay in USJ 3 and experienced the power outage from 1:30 am to 4 am...drove out to McD in SS 15, parked myself and my family there for 2 good hours to avoid the hit...feel very sleepy now....

i think we should expect more occurrence of these incident as the weather gets hotter and the haze makes a comeback.. more air cond will be switched on for longer period..

Ever occur to you to invest in a generator or genset? Quite affordable :D

Computer's UPS can also be rig to power a fan and/or a light :D

I can take the humidity, the heat but the mozzies....these are pesky, annoying and dangerous, what with the rise of dengue cases. :(

Can it be similar to what happened lately in Police Force. Sub standard equipment/component supplied?

Yes you can but it depends on the battery standby duration. Pointless if its only for some minutes. Bigger capacity battery standby won't come cheap.
PC UPS's are primarily for user to quickly finish up work and shut down (to prevent file corruption or other consequences) till your mains power comes back permanently.

Err buddies...it's not as easy as it may seem to be...when one talks about putting up a backup Genset to your existing home electrical supply.

If not done properly...when the TNB supply comes back on while your backup Genset is running...to power your home's existing electrical system...it would cause a melt down...

Without a proper electrical control panel or switch box setup by a qualified/certified electrician...don't try to meddle with
the existing electrical system of your home...

Best to leave it as it is...

If you stay in a large bungalow and your neighbor is also some distance away, a genset (cost no issue) could be viable. No way if you're staying in terrace homes. The generator engine noise and smoke pollution will not be appreciated unless you locate it OUTSIDE your gate and the further the better.
