Went to midvally to get some items today, requested assistance as I was in wheelchair. Assistance was Bangladeshi. Paid items by credit card. Bangladeshi put my barang in my basket. Came home rested, had shower then checked thing I bought – wow I was billed for 2 shampoo -$17/ per bottle. One bottle I’ve other missing & another item which was’t in my list, also missing. $20/ ripped off.
Nope never dropped any items as I asked some people to double check if my things were secured behind my chair.
Be careful u guys. don't kow who the bad guy, could be the cashier!
Any idea?

Dear Carol,
This is terrible. I suggest that you write in officially and complain about the missing items.
Even if they cannot find the culprit, at least you must shame them for taking advantage of you. Let the management knows there are crooks in the team of workers.
I feel very angry on your behalf.

hi Carol, sorry to hear about that... maybe you could try my way... after paying, i will go through the items that i bought whether its tally with the amount i paid. at times, i will try to remember or even jot down the prices at the rack. at times, it will defer.
we cannot blame anyone as we do not know who is the culprit in this.
And just an advice, dont bold the word 'Bangladeshi'. From my understanding, seems that you are either do not like them or blaming them for stealing it... pls accept my apology first as that is my impression of your post.

No point in writing, the people in Carrefour will never reply. My wife's car got scratched in Carrefour SJ for no apparent reason 2 weeks ago complete with a orange cone placed on the bonnet. Wrote a email to them based on the email address given in the website, till today no reply even copy to the parent company in France and got a reply "We on on our summer holidays". Called up the customer careline line - the reply 'security and well being for cars parked ot our car park is at the owners own risk'. No more Carrefour for me now. Imagine one of the core values of Carrefour is “We fully accept the consequences of our actions on customers, our company and employees, institutions and the environment.”

I think everyone should have a cool head on this. I am a regular Carrefour customer and not everything is bad. I had at one time left my laptop bag in a trolley area in the LG car park and only realized it when I reached home. When I got back at the car park, I went to the trolley area and a guard asked me what I was looking for. After describing what I lost, he brought me to the Security department to meet his manager, and I had to list down the items in the bag. And to verify my ownership, I showed them how to access the laptop with my HDD encryption password (of course its changed now). They let me have the items back after going thru the items in the bag, ie my ID tag, etc etc. And I had to sign a form with my IC number and photostat for file. So not everyone in Carrefour or any other place is bad. Just a bad apple here and there.

As far as i am concerned Carrefour is a very reputable hypermarket and i do all my shopping here without any hassale or problems. Prices are reasonable and the service excellent. Do feel sorry for the cashiers as they have to cater for big crowds at most times.

I make it a practice to step aside and check the itemised receipt everytime after paying esp at hypermart because normally the shopping list is quite long. Frankly speaking, i have encountered misbilled many times at few different hypermart, it doesnt only happened at carrefour. Tapi, funny lah, everytime it is overbilled not even once underbilled??
What a coincidence. I was was planning to start a new thread today and I saw this, so I'll add this bit.
I'm writing this with the 'hope' that some C4 staff will read this and take action, and USJ forum members support this. Looks like there's no point writing to them as someone mentions that they won't reply.
I THINK IT'S ABOUT TIME YOU GET YOU ESCALATORS CHANGED!! PERIOD.
Sorry for the caps, but if one had to carry 4 barrels of water plus other stuff up a steep NOT WORKING escalator, I suppose I'd shout louder. This has been going on for years. Previously, they were apologetic and had staff to help or direct you to the lift. Today, nobody was there and lift was dead as well. Looks like they have cut back on staff as everyone was missing.
This has happened to me a few times. Once a foreigner offer to help pull my fully laden trolley while I pushed. Boy was it an experience. Half way through the guy was probably having regrets.
These days they are turning down the Aircon, so it's hot inside as well.
AND FIX YOUR A/C AS WELL
I've been a regular patron for years, but now I think I'll move on. Not that their prices are cheap anymore. Sure at times they have offers, but when you consider the hospital bills you might have for the heart attack you might get.....?
Any lawyers here? Can sue if someone gets a heart attack because they didn't provide the service? But then again in M'sian Courts...forget it! I'll just shop elsewhere. What to do.....I'm so typically Malaysian.

Have you been to their toilets? Shortly after their renovation, they have been very dimly lit and most of the toilet cubicles are forever out of order; i.e. at least for the male toilets...

I sincerely hope you are joking. :D If you are not, then I sincerely hope you can change your attitudes about foreigners, specifically the ones who you mentioned.
By the way, I notice the SJ area has a lot of Canadians around now. Some of them have been seen around Carrefour.
Please take care of your safety.

all super/hypermarts employ up to 60% foreign labour...If we were to employ 99.999% Malaysian (other .001% being managerial looking foreigners) then we will be looking at paying 100% more for every single thing we buy from these outlets! we wont even touch on the mamak, chinapek, tomyam celup restoran staff...With the exception of selected fields, these poor chappies left home '000km away for RM600-1000 per month and live incramped and almost squalid conditions that u will be shocked outta yr skin!
The foreign workers (sweaty labourers, smelly drug/watch/leather belt/dvd pushers, convincing scam artists, dirty cooks, sloppy waiters, pretty masseurs, sadistic footpressor, stiff-lipped MNC managers, charismatic lecturers, sexy singers, parttime hunky gigolo/ bonkalicious workingladies) with or without permit serve a purpose in this bolehland :D

It's this Carrefour in Mid Valley again...
Went there last week to purchase its house brand 5kg AAA rice (priced at RM16.40) as advertised on the Star.. searched everywhere in the store but couldnt find the 5kg but just the 10kg.
However, because the 10kg was sold at RM48.80 ( it's still cheaper to buy 2 packs of 5kg ie 2 x RM16.40 = RM32.80), I aksed the promoters where to locate the 5kg but was surprised when they told me affirmatively that I would never find it coz the management didnt sell it since the advert was just a tool to attract customers to the store ...
Immediately called to see the store manager who then told me that the 5kg rice was ran our of stock, and asked me to purchase the 10kg at RM48.80 ! i made a scene by telling all customers there that Carrefour cheated us by advertising something which they didnt mean to sell ...told them off & threaten to publicise this and complain to Consumer Bereau ...only then the manager proposed to settle it amicably...at the end i bought the 10kg at RM32.80 i.e. price for 2 packs of 5kg !
ya, what a "reputable" hypermart ...

what this 'reputable' hypermart did was simply to appease an irated customer. They are not obliged to sell that bag of rice... The Invitation to Treat in Tort is a very interesting read.

Yes, this is a very reputable hypermart at sj that charges the customers for their locker service. The locker service is not secure as there is no one keeping watch. The lockers definitely know how to eat your 2 fifty cents coins.
Had unpleasant experience there last week -- forced to use the locker, fed 2 fifty cents coins to the locker, coins not returnable.
I think Giant and Mydin definitely make much better neighbours than this C4

s8 says :
Offer to supply
8. A person exposing goods for supply or having goods in his possession for supply shall be deemed to offer or supply them.
and s14(3)(c) affirms the above by saying :
any person advertising goods as available for supply shall be taken as offering to supply them.
thats as lay lingo as any legal document can get and its lay and simple and straight forward enough for any whatsoever nationality to comprehend.
i think i have posted my story of c4 not stocking an item they advertised. i verbally abused them in public like how mike tyson and gang would demolish an alleged sodomiser (and actually felt ashamed of my ferocity when i went home). to cut the long story short, a couple of days later i got a parcel from c4 with a covering letter pleading for forgiveness (like i was a god i never claimed to be) and begging me to accept the parcel as a token of thier utmost sorrow and despair for what happened. that item is marketed for over rm150, and i am still enjoying it today, some 7 or 8 years on.
but i swear, my choice for shopping is still carrefour. its the place to save big big bucks if you are patient and know how and when.

and i gave the peel road outlet the same hell, nay, that would be belittling myself - much worse hell is more descriptive of my military style oration. all for some darlie toothpaste - they refused to display the twin pack offered at a good discount and expected me to get two single packs at original high prices. miracle that i did not let off a litany of words which cannot be reproduced here. i gave way this battle cos of time and kid in tow.
but i was later to learn, from the same peel road store, that if an item is not available, one can place a booking for it at the customer service counter and get it at the price offered on the day the booking is made when the item is available. i tested the policy, and yes, it works. they called me when the discounted cutie compact i booked "was available" about two weeks later. gave me a week to collect it but i negotiated sweetly and got two weeks. no fuss.
if only we all knew the niceties and facilities available in the market, there would surely have been much less animosity and altercations like those i, and yes, rachel sj, partook in.

sorry carol, but this is a clear cut case of caveat emptor. once you leave the cashier's counter with your purchases, you are deemed to have acknoweldged receipt of the goods you paid for. of course, this is liberally interpreted with plenty of leeway in favour of the customer for practical purposes (of not clogging up the counters).
your post is a direct accusation of a crime having been committed against you (and i would let the others speak of the way you presented a foreign nationality). its pointless to discuss if something wayward did happen, we having only your word for it.
carrefour covers their cashiers' counters with cctv recordings. you should clear the air by requesting for a review of the cctv footage covering your transaction. the copy will be available for up to a week, so please act immediately.
i am not siding carrefour but i think it is in the wider interest of us shoppers, and perhaps me in particular, me being a regular carrefour shopper, to ensure that the management is aware of any misdoings by any of their staff.
sometimes management may be aware of wrongs but they need feedback to nab the culprits. this happened to me at 1st world hotel, genting. some crooks did some hanky panky to book the room i had checked into. even had the cheek to swear that they had the key to my room and threaten me. i got the duty manager and she showed up promptly with the security fellas. thats when i learnt that they are aware of a syndicate but could only act if they had info like my reporting to them. for my feedback, or more for my safety, they "upgraded" me to another better room on another floor on a day when the hotel was already fully booked.

And yah, my rights to demand them to sell those items as per thier ads & Carrefour's obligation to honour thier promise to sell derived from contract law and not tort...
ITT amounts when seller makes info to the whole world that he has something offering for sale.
Offer comes when someone, responding to the ad, offers to purchase the item as advertised.

you got it there ...while stock lasts...first of all, they dont even have such stocks for sale ! isnt this cheating or what ?
of course it's more than just for the sake of keeping good PR...at first the store manager was nasty but he disappered to verify with his mgt and came back to tell his staff that "no choice, lawyer said must sell"....
also, there is a world of difference btw contract and tort laws and principles, if you are unaware.

Let me relate my experience with Carre4 SJ. I took two packets of wires to the cashier (IT department) for payment. Before I actually took out my wallet, I told the girl that I only needed one packet. She told me that she had already scanned the items and could not change. What if I did not bring enough cash for both the wires? However, I told her that I would pay the full amount and I would claim it back from the Customer Services. She dared not tell me that I could not get a refund on IT products. She just directed to the counter on the ground floor. At the Customer Services counter, I was referred to the Customer Services on the IT floor who susequently informed me that IT products were not refundable! What? I had not even stepped out of their premises with the purchase and the plastic bags were still intact and they told me "Goods purchased are not refundable"!! Carrefour's goods may be cheap but their customer relationship sucks!

Hi Chookyan.. last time back to 1997.. i still remember one of my stupid friend like's to scratch people's car exspecially brand new Mercedez car.. One day, my friend drive a nissan van with few others friends and parked the car at carrefour, one of my stupid or jealousy friend (not the driver) came down, immediatly he take out 5cen't and scrath the Merc car which just park beside the car.. i pity of the innocent car owner.. i ask him why he did that & what did the car did wrong to him ? He said's so Shock the owner drive Merz & he was so happy doing that. So if this thing happen to your car , not because of the carrefour want this thing to be happen..
It might because of those like my this stupid friends.. anyway i did not friend with him anymore cause till now he had never change.. He still with his ego attitude..

Goods are supplied, and its serviced by Thundermatch, another branch of a Low Yat Plaza IT vendor. Carrefour marks up the price a percentage more to profit. Thats why nearly all the items cost a percentage more than Low Yat.
If you want to save a bundle and more choice, spending hundreds to 4 figures on IT stuff, a trip to Low Yat is worth it all.
BTW, there's a Low Yat IT vendor also opening a branch at USJ Rhythm Avenue IT mall named Cycom and hopefully they maintain the same prices as in Low Yat.
