Playstation 3, Xbox-360 and Nintendo Wii for consoles.
PSP and Nintendo DS for portable consoles.
I would personally recommend Playstation 3 because the games on the playstation suits my taste better. That is if I dont see the price tag :P

Depends what kinds of games you like.
I like action, with good graphics....so I prefer PS3 for portable unit I like PSP.
