I need help.

My garden is full of slugs. Fat squirmy crawlies boneless mucuses prowling in my front yard!

Is there anything that I can do to get rid of them??? DDT do?

For now, I use salt, spray the ground with salt and I can see the yakies shrink down in size.

I use beer which is about a day old as bait for my snail problem. It really works. You don't have to sacrifice a lot if beer if it is your precious brew. Just drink your fill but leave a little to be used as bait.

Snails and slugs are molluscs except that slugs do not have shells. I find that snails just love beer..seriously. Most websites tell you that beer can also be used on slugs too. The beer apparently doesn't kill them but probably intoxicate them. :)

Pour some of the beer into a plastic container. Place the container in the place where the slugs hide during the daytime. Leave overnight. Make sure you check during the night..that's when they come out as the air is cooler and they do not get burned by the sun. They disappear by morning. Then when they collect in the container you can take your revenge by jabbing, cutting..or whatever to take revenge on them. :D

try salt....

[get a pailful of water, mix some salt in it and water your garden... tried it once... suprisingly the pearl grass got to looking better and not a snail in sight...]

Great help.

I will do the used coffee powder and egg shell.

Also, my mother told me to use rock salt. The last desperate try I did was using table salt, too fine to be effective.

I found the slug come out at night, no bird. Imagine if there are birds, thses are juicy meal for the birds.

Oh ya, my mother also told me, keeping a fowl in my yard is another alternative, guarantee no slug.

Today afternoon rain, brought out army of slugs in my garden. The rock salt i put, all washed away by the rain.

My cat ate the slugs! May b a source of protein?

Do slugs carry disease?

The hardware shop in Taipan recommends his grass fertilizer that also act as slug deterrent, anyone tried before?

I think 'grass fertilizer' is urea which comes in salt-like crystals. The sharp edges of the crystals probably will injure the slugs by cutting their tender slimy bodies. But it would also dissolve in the rain and you;ll have a healthy patch of grass there.

Guess your cat has found a new form of sashimi. Tell us if it starts getting fat on the slugs ;-)

Have you tried the copper strips method? Then your cat will have grilled slugs as part of the menu.
