Best to find out if the main brand distributor can repair it. They would have original spares otherwise you're at the mercy of repairman who'll fleece you left right n center.
BTW, when asking a question in any forum, please be more specific as to brand, type and whats the problem. Sorry but it not amusing as to why many still persist this habit of not disclosing more details to a question...even when advertising something for sale.
I have a computer...I need to repair. how ah??.

brand is elba, front loading with capacity of 5kg. Bought it 6 years ago.
i mistakenly put the detergent in the softerner compartment. then, when the cycle came to the softener part, the machine stopped.

now, it wont move at any cycle at all, even though i've cleared the detergent/softener compartment.

U can call ELBA cust serv 1800-28-2093. They'll sent a technician to inspect and repair any faulty parts. Charges per visit is RM80.00 and parts depends. I just had my 10+ years old machine repair couple of months ago. Good luck.

thanks guy.

anita, i called elba. the guy came today and charged me RM150

spartan, will use your guy in the future when the need arise.

recently, my mum's fridge rosak. i found this repairman (without any recommendation) and he was very friendly through the found. he fixed the fridge when i was not around, and he agreed with my mum to RM300, initially he said rm330. he also agreed for me to pay through maybank2u.

when he wrote the receipt, he put down rm330. my mum did not check (she had to find her glasses and was busy with grandkids).

so i paid rm300. he called me and was very rude, saying 'u didn't read what i wrote on the receipt ah?'

so scared of these people nowadays. with the price increase, they will cheat you any way they can.

I have an Electrolux front loading washer that conked out ( not sure what's wrong) - stops in mid cycle.
Last year it needed repairs, I called Electrolux co , they took the whole machine back to office to check and then it cost me about RM500 for repair and change of parts!
So expensive - I dare not call Electrolux again. The machine is 7 years old, don't know if i should repair or throw away... repair also have to pay for transport, right?
Anyone have some advice for me?

Thx.

Touch wood our Electrolux machine has lasted us since 1995 from the days in USJ4. Our fridge and our water filter are also from Electrolux and from the many years dealing with them in USJ and now in Penang, these folks are really professional and punctual and they even dropped by sometimes just to check everything is okay...

We have never changed parts but some consumables for the filters and yes, they cost abit more than others but its all worth it as their service level is good.

I'm not going to sing praises about Electrolux, but I've no regrets buying one 7 years ago. The drum bearing went noisy, I claimed warranty and they did the job in a week or so, delivered back plastic wrapped. All's well and good since then. Should my machine be beyond economical repair in future, I think I'll buy the same brand again. No more those top loaders, they can make mincemeat of your delicate clothings. Wash carpet can..I suppose...hahaha! :)
Whatever it is I think its unwise to spend on a machine not knowing their level of aftersales support. But thats the thing, many still buy consumer machines and electronics ignoring the backup and support, especially when you need it most. Price is the primary concern mostly.
