Just received this via email..
DON'T TAKE PANADOL AND PANADOL ACTI FAST AND PANADOL SOLUBLE especially if you have gastric problems?
FYI... One real story from a friend....
My husband was working in a hospital as an IT engineer, as the hospital is planning to set up a database of its patient. And he knows some of the doctors quite well.
The doctors used to tell him that whenever they have a headache, they are not willing to take PANADOL (PARACETMOL). In fact, they will turn to Chinese Herbal Medicine or find other alternatives.
This is because Panadol is toxic to the body, and it harms the liver.
According to the doctor, Panadol will reside in the body for at least 5 years. And according to the doctor, there used to be an incident where an air stewardess consumes a lot of panadol during her menstrual as she needs to stand all the time. She's now in her early 30's, and she needs to wash her kidney (DIALYSIS) every month.
As said by the doctor that whenever we have a headache, that's because it is due to the electron/Ion imbalance in the brain. As an alternative solution to cope with this matter, they suggested that we buy 1 or 2 cans of isotonic drink (eg. 100PLUS), and mix it with drinking water according to a ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 (simply, it means one cup 100plus, one cup water or 2 cups water).
Me and my husband have tried this on several occasions, and it seems to work well.
Another method will be to submerge your feet in a basin of warm water so that it brings the blood pressure down from your throbbing head.
As Panadol is a pain killer, the more Panadol you take, the lesser would be your threshold for pain (your endurance level for pain).
We all will fall ill as we aged, for woman, we would need to go through childbirth. Imagine that we had spent our entire life popping quite a substantial amount of Panadol (Pain Killer) when you need to have a surgery or operation, you will need a much more amount of general anesthetic to numb your surgical pain than the average person who seldom or rarely takes Panadol . If you have a very high intake of Panadol throughout your life (Migraine, Menstrual cramps) it is very likely that normal general anesthetic will have no effects on you as your body is pumped full with panadol and your body is so used to pain killer that you would need a much stronger pain killer, Morphine??
Value your life, THINK before you easily pop that familiar pill into your mouth again. Please send this to people you care about.

This also works when you are having diaherra or even when you are doing sports activity. This would replace the body fluid that you lost.

Thanks for this info. Appreciate it very much. My girls and I do not take any Panadol so this info on isotonic drink will come in handy the next time we are down with headaches...usually we drink more water and wait it out.

I wish the Doctors will clarify certain issues here with regards Panadol and isotonic drinks
As far as I know, Panadol intake must be within prescribed limits. If I am not wrong, one should not take more than 2 tabs in 6 hours. So if you pop more of them in your mouth within a shorter timeframe, you would do yourself some harm.
As far as I know Panadol does not induce gastric bleeding - that is caused by aspirin.
As for the 100 Plus or for that matter any fizzi isotonic drinks - i suggest you people go slow on that because (a) it is a sugar drink - take too much of it an you jeopardise your health - re: diabetes (b) that drink is a salt solution and beware that you are not overloading your system with too much salts re: blood pressure.
In anything you do, do not do in excess - the dose is crucial. Just think - water is essential for life but if you drink too much water, it can kill you.

Hi since i'm new here , hope to contribute something. I'm actually a medical officer nw training in ENT. Well Panadol aka paracetamol is actually very safe. the dose usually is 1gram (2 tabs) 3x a day i.e 8hourly. The stewardess who have kidney failure has most likely taken loads of NSAIDs ( non steroidal anti inflammatory) pain killer for her menstrual pain which is usually prescribe by regular GP or our lovely pharmacist. This type of pain killer is the most commonly used 1 coz its cheap n effective. Eg Ponstan, Voltaren, Brufen.. Look OUT!!! It causes gastric upset like asprin too.
Reg isotonic drinks, no doubt its mineral content is good for diarrhoea but i still advice coconut juice or Oral Rehydration Salt. Coz all carbonated drinks contains bicarb which may render ur calcium absorption. I think :) If i remember my chemistry well.
another myth reg pain treshold. If u hv headache or most pain for that matter, nt taking any pain killer does nt make u immune to it. Coz i remember reading a study which showed dat prolonged pain increases the numbers of pain receptors which causes u to suffer pain more frequently but no doubt pain is a natural defence mechanism to tell us something is wrong n need to be rectify etc thus for me i will definately investigate further if any pain is persisting or occuring too frequently...For me i admit to taking panadol whenever i hv any pain or fever and sleep is very important.

yeah i agreed.
any medicine that we take
we should follow as what it had prescribed
if the dosage is exceed..it will become toxic to our body..harmful towards liver.whenever we feel pain / headache..try not to depend 100% on medicine.especially synthetic medicine.
sometimes..our body just need enough rest..quality sleep..drinks a lot of water..eat properly...healthy diet..and don't forget to exercise.
isotonic beverages can be harmful too if we took it more than usual..maybe it can cause diabetes due to exceed of sugar intake..who knows?

kwchang is absolutly right. Too much carbonated drinks spikes up our sugar level, which does no good to us in the long term. To the others, unless you are a qualified medical practitioner, I would suggest you refrain from offering any medical advise. You may unwittingly do more harm than good.
