argh...not exactly legal, isnt it?

unless you have a work permit and I need one too if i am coming with you.

Sure, i don't have one. So, i assume that you dont have one too.

so, that make us two illegal foreign workers. But we, asian stickup like a sore thumb among the mat saleh.

Then when you got caught, you will inform them about your travelling "working" partner. R! that will be me!

We get booted out of Aeteroa and permenently blacklisted.

U see that is why i am not coming with you.

Blue Cheeze, ignore the negatives, continue with your dreams ! Have a great time, would like to hear your experience when you return.

For some whom cannot bother to 'google', perhaps it's better they don't go with you for this trip.. can you imagine how negative the trip would be. I did a quick check and was happy I learnt a new thing with NZ immigration.

Once again.. have a great time..

Too bad. My staff ( a lady) just left for the same scheme 2 days ago.
She is alone, going to S Island. Heard that it is legal and you can apply only once. If you reject the offer, there is no second chance.

Dammit I'm envious! Which role in The Hobbit did you get?

According to some of my friends, there's really nothing much to see about LOTR in NZ. Most of the movies were shot using CGI so they say. I have high hopes of going there to see the set but when my friends told me that, I :( .

Can someone here whose been there verify my friends' claim?

If you can to see Last Of Mohicans movie set, you should go to North Carolina. It is awesome. I was there.

NZ is such a beautiful country!

As for the movie set for Lord of the Rings, the only one still standing is the Hobbiton set in Matamata. But so much of NZ landscape was used in the LOTR movies, almost every everywhere you go (especially the scenic places), you will recognise them.

1) is there a minimal age?

2) what is the pay like?

3) is there a minimal duration period of employment?

I had considered this earlier when i was undecided to backpack around Australia or New Zealand some 6 years back. Therefore bear in mind my information is nt up to date. and details might have changed. The best thing is to check with the New Zealand High Commission with regards to this matter.

this working holiday thing is available to all citizens of commonwealth country but there are restrictions. This visa is is only for those 30 and below and the scope of work is limited.. more to manual labour ie. fruit picking...

The work is more for you to stretch your funds further, some places pay NZ 15-20 an hour, while some just provide you with board and food. Once you are there, you may try going around with backpacker buses like kiwiexperience (http://www.kiwiexperience.com) which was highlighted in the Star Section Two on Saturday.

Enjoy and do keep us posted on your holiday arrangement..

Girls, this is not the way to achieve your dreams in life... If you're unable to get a job there.. then how? or if there is only one vacancy available, then 2 of you got to separate... When you can't find a job, there might have someone (middle-man) will get you a job in thousand miles away, and you got to pay them first (up front)...you know what i mean...

Getting excited when talking about travel and dreams... but when thing goes wrong, there is no turning back. If you still want to be Macgyver, my advice is keep your passport, visa and air fare properly... and check-in a swiss army knife :)
