Part I of the Rat Race was just a wake-up call.

Part II - The System describes the Rat Race itself
http://www.usj.com.my/bulletin/upload/showthread.php?t=22444
In Part IIIA - How the System Works, we describe the workings of the system and introduce the concept of Mental Models.
We examine briefly the Pyramid Mental Model to show the power structure of societies and nations. This will be discussed in more detail in Part IV - The Pyramid.
We study how we are manipulated through psychological attacks on our minds from young, how we are trained to be sheep, how certain important knowledge and skills are kept from us, how to make us pliable and obedient, how our emotions are exploited, etc.
In other words, we are trained to be Rats from young.

your best article yet. your model is very close to reality but unfortunately you have make quite a few critical assumptions which are simply unsustainable. as such your model is not entirely correct. anyway why dont u finish your article and i will share with you what i think is wrong with your modelling.
a few questions:
1)did you arrive at this model entirely on your own or you just gleam others ideas and make a "rojak" out of them?
2)what is the purpose of your articles?
btw, i read very fast. do you mind email me your article in its entirety so i can finish reading it quickly. if you want my opinions, will be glad to email back my humble opinions after that!
if i am not mistaken, you will find your final analysis will arrive at the doorstep of religions or humanism, just like all those ancient philosophers that preceeded you.
thank you for sharing.

1)did you arrive at this model entirely on your own or you just gleam others ideas and make a "rojak" out of them?
Nothing is original.:) It's a combination of quite a wide range of reading and observation of life plus personal experience and meditation.
The rojak part is merely my effort to keep the article within manageable length. My challenge was to keep it within 5 or 6 pages. Hence the use of point form. Too long - people fall asleep.
2)what is the purpose of your articles?
Giving my children a reference to make sense of the world. The mental model is a very important concept to anchor ourselves with. To teach them how to defend themselves mentally from being manipulated by the politicians.
Waking people up. Many people go through life without realizing that they are "Rats". Like flotsam being splashed hither and thither with the waves.
if i am not mistaken, you will find your final analysis will arrive at the doorstep of religions or humanism, just like all those ancient philosophers that preceded you.
I am unable to answer you as I am still drafting Parts IV, V and VI (not sure if I want to do Part VI. Too taxing on my brain.). The Pyramid is very tough and I am still wrestling in my mind how much I want to say.
Thanks for your comments.

Regarding the purposes you stated, let me share with you 2 observations:
I saw a korean a movie recently about an orphaned dumb who was raised up a professional killer. He could do the killing without qualm as he justified himself the victims were all bad guys. One day he passed by a pedestrian bridge and saw a mother beggar with a child being beaten up by her husband. He found out that this man has beaten her as she has not begged enough money for him. He followed this man and found this man use the money to go nightclubs. So he killed him to do a favor to the beggar mother. Few weeks later as he passed the bridge, he saw the kid alone without the mother. He asked beggars nearby why the mother not with the kid? They said she jumped off the bridge because she cant live without her husband so she committed suicide. Moral of the story, many rats prefer not to wake up!
Imagine we now back in WWII. My children were drafted to fight in Tobruk. These soldiers were known as Tobruk rats incidentally as they were mainly fighting trenches battles. Should I trained my child to be a mean fighting machine with no conscience and thus enable his maximum chance of survival or should he be trained to kill according to Geneva Convention and come back in a coffin? The reason is for a law to work, both sides must play by the rule. When one party play cheat, the law is no longer effective. Moral of the story, when you fight in the jungle, you fight according to law of the jungle.

Rocker, Thanks for sharing.
In war, all rules break down. This is the ultimate tactic resorted to by the Exploiter, as mentioned in the above article, to break the Rat's resistance. My ideas won't work in war.

Since this article was published, 2 articles came out explaining how UMNO has used the principles described here to enhance their hold on the reins of power. What is interesting to note are the passionate comments and defence by the Rats on both sides of the divide.
It is amazing that so many people are willing to believe such blatant lies, not realizing that they are all being manipulated to fit into an UMNO agenda of divide & rule.
Fortunately, more and more people are waking up from their slumber. There is hope for Malaysia.

As we have seen in page 5 of The Rat Race Part IIIA, fear is a very powerful tool to manipulate the Rats.
The desperados are now resorting to the exploitation of fear to gather support. These are unscrupulous people who are prepared to see the nation burn to achieve their agenda.
We have to constantly remind ourselves. Our struggle is a class struggle, not a racial struggle. It is only the politicians who play the race card to divide-and-rule the Rats.
Desperate Dr M plays the race card
JOHOR BARU, May 17 ? Desperate times call for desperate measures. So Tun Dr
Mahathir Mohamad today played the race card ? something the former prime
minister has not done since he was a young, upstart Umno politician in the
1960s.

If we cannot have it, you shall not have it. Just observe how the Ruling Class treats certain groups of Rats and this policy is obvious.
So, what's wrong with selling land to Singaporeans? Obviously, they are not going to let it idle. They will bring investments in to develop businesses and industries, and create jobs. If UMNO is so worried, classify it under a 99-year lease.
Look at the tens of thousands of Malaysians who commute daily to work in Singapore. Just compute how much time is lost in travelling, getting through the causeway. To the Ruling Class, this is not their time, not their money, so they don't care.
With jobs available locally, these people will not need to go to Singapore. Even if the salaries are lower, they won't mind because they save time.
Mahathir, stop playing your mind games. You have done enough damage to Malaysia already. Please go away.
2. Nine years ago, I drafted a policy paper for KeAdilan which is attached unchanged. Compare what would have happened had UMNO implemented it in 1999? We would have made so much more progress.
All of UMNO's actions described in the policy paper can be attributed to greed and envy.

These are typical ploys by the elements of the Ruling Class (past or present) to mobilize support from the Working Class using symbols of race and playing on their fears. Expect more desperate rhetorics in the coming days. We, Rats, must avoid being caught up in their machinations.

We now have an opportunity to test the Rat Race System. See how elements of the Ruling Class fight for power, the strategies they use and match it against what has been described here:
Mahathir’s multi-prong strategy
Mahathir probably has a few tricks up his sleeve. Scheming and scheming all the time…
I believe he is opting for a multi-prong strategy in his battle to unseat Abdullah and put in place a crony who would protect his interests before Anwar and his Pakatan boys can take over. The strategy would work at various levels.

The use of racism to exploit the Rats is not confined to Malaysia alone. We can see it in the US Democratic campaign for the nomination between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Fear & hatred are basic human instincts that are always exploited by politicians, especially when they are desperate.
Closer to home, we can see Mahathir playing the racist card.
We need to be constantly aware and guard ourselves mentally to avoid being drawn into such traps.

Southern Strategy Redux
Racist Grammar
By VIJAY PRASHAD
The Republican Party sent out its heavy hitters (Vice-President Dick Cheney among others) to prevent a Democratic victory in the Deep South.
..........
One part of the onslaught against Childers, who eventually won the election, was that he was in the same party as Barack Obama.
A combination of poor whites, whose only claim to dignity was that they were legally superior to blacks, and the big business faction threw its support behind the racist populism of Republicans.
.........
Reagan returned in 1984 and chanted “The South Will Rise Again”, a long-time favourite phrase of the racist Ku Klux Klan. Rather than consider that it was his own policies of privatisation and deregulation that threatened the livelihood and dignity of the white working class,
.........
Overwhelmed by the Obama phenomenon, Hillary Clinton and her team have resorted to the kind of coded language that appeals to this racist voting bloc.

Who to support? Try the EPL formula
With Euro 2008 looming in the near horizons of our Astro Channel Guide, JEROME MARTIN puts on his football fan cap – actually a baseball cap – for the next few insomniac weeks as Malaysians tune in at the oddest hours of the day, to support countries not their own.

Inflation may hit 10-year high
By Adeline Paul Raj and Jeeva Arulampalam Published: 2008/06/06
INFLATION may rise to its highest in a decade this year but there is no
urgency to raise the benchmark interest rate for now, Bank Negara Malaysia
(BNM) said.
Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said she expects inflation to average
4.2 per cent this year after the recent sharp hike in energy prices at home.
Do you believe her? I don't!
Here are some inflation figures for other countries for comparison:
European producer prices were reported rising at 6.1% per year.
In China, retail prices are rising at an 8.5% rate – the fastest in 12 years.
In Russia, prices are going up at a 14.39% rate.
In Vietnam, the consumer price inflation rate is running at 25%.
In Venezuela, the inflation rate is 29%.
In Zimbabwe prices are said to be increasing at 160,000% to 200,000% per year.
