give him a break, three five. he might be longing for a stolll in pall mall with virginia. or a desert ride with a camel. this forum is his consulate. 555 might not always work. not with the strings of adjectives and tons of pages to comb without choice. unlike u n i we can choose 2 c only what we 1 2 c. ;)

555, I understand where u are coming from. Bare in mind, this is an open forum, perhaps there is also minor forumer participation which does not augurs well with the topic. What has been reported in MSM is already extreme (in my opinion). Need more to say here???

with regards "freedom of speech" - please refer to the thread on Relaxing of banana policies (http://www.usj.com.my/bulletin/upload/showthread.php?t=22247) - start with post #17 and proceed ... it touched on the freedom of speech or rather the lack of it here.
Post #28 by IsaRahim sums it up very nicely - do read his comments
Similarly #29 by firefox and #32 by Wild_Explorer
May I sum it up - we should be able to cull threads that are no longer relevant or stale. What is exciting for some may be not for the majority. I am vary that we are catering to a whole community. Part of my decisions are based on comments I read in the threads themselves.

Defintely not agree with Raikonen...What you are doing exactly what Malaysians were doing from independence until the last election...yes man and afraid being punish!
be yes man!!!! oh my god, is this what u teach ur children? to be yes man to a father/mother? to yes man to your boss? to yes man to the politician no matter how corrupt are there? to yes man to whatever the authority ask you to do?

Yes, we all knows the MSM already extreme in reporting news! What we must do is start HERE! If we don't correct what happening here, and yet we yell, "Hey, MSM is not fair and just in reporting!", is it like the father is smoking and dont allow the son to smoke!
And please dont always compare the worst scenarios....if we want better, we compare with the best! not with the worst!
Quite some people compared Malaysia to countries like Tanzania, Kenya.... and said hey, we are in a paradise.... this is just like fooling ourselves......
Then, of course, if we compared the communist in China 50 years ago, then all the MSMs in Malaysia have "total freedom"!

"What is exciting for some may be not for the majority." - Does this sounds "unfair"? If this policy is used in the country, then what happens to the minority? Only the majority feels "exciting" then the policy will be implemented????
The forum is not for the majority and minority, Mr Chang! The forum is for ALL people regardless of race, age, gender and religion! It is the same as for the country!
Also, the act of cull threads that are no longer relevant or stale....how do you determine what is not relevant or stale? Why dont u let the thread continue as long as it does not break the rules and regulations of the forum --- in my opinion, it would be racist, sexist remarks, porno, personal attack, foul language....then only we cull the threads.....

This webforum belongs to YB Jeff Ooi and he has mandated KWChang to be moderator. It is "HIS" house now, he decides the rules. Freedom of speech or not, whether we like it or not, is not our prerogative, it is the house owner's, still don't get it?

Greetings.
Chanseng, you have made a good point on freedom of speech but are we to follow the footsteps of America where we allow extreme speeches as the norm? If that is the type of freedom you want then you would allow the likes of Al-Maunah if you can remember, to thrive. I'm not saying that our moderator is perfect nor you, chanseng completely right. We live in a country where our tolerance for one another is only paper thin. We have to block or remove some elements of certain threads. Someone once told me to remove ISA and OSA completely. I told that person he is insane because without it, Malaysia as we know it will cease to exist. Without ISA, Jemaah Islamiah terrorist can waltz in here and kill any one of us, yes including you and i, and there is no way you can arrest them because they are dead with us. You tell the family of the victims of September 11 that there is nothing we can do because someone removed ISA. Remove OSA and let everyone know how is our nations' defence is doing. My point is simple. All laws are made in good faith but it is some 'smart' people are the one who are tainting it. So chanseng, let the moderator do his work. It is a thankless job and the least we can do is not to make his life a miserable rag doll.

Dear Sentinel, this is a PUBLIC forum not a house, my fren!
A house is for a family to live in, you dont always invite strangers/public into your house! But this is a PUBLIC forum, you invite PUBLIC into this forum, thus this is not a house!!!!
Moreover, Jeff Ooi, a member of DAP, the Pakatan Rakyat, should advocate freedom of speech (again not racist, sexist, ...), and he should start here! If he can't even start here and serve as a role model, what is the point to talk abt to practice that in the parliment/penang?
Just wonder, is Jeff Ooi ever read this forum, if yes, Dear YB Jeff Ooi, can you tell us your opinions and your stand on this? Do you agree that this is your house and we must follow whatever rules that you or your admin set upon without question? Is there no democracy here and it is here ruled by one man only?

Dear Sentinel, this is a PUBLIC forum not a house, my fren![/B]What makes you say this is a PUBLIC forum?
This is a designated public forum,
as most forums are, and with rules and regulation.
Was there no application for membership?
and I check, yes the name of the forum is
United Subang Jaya Web Forum.
And as a community based forum, there are young people reading this.
So guys, the mod is just being kind and may have chosen the wrong words to close that thread.
I for one, would NOT like to see the young lady being 'admired' and 'idolised' for selling her body!
Even though it may be the oldest profession but,
Our education and society has not reach that stage yet.
It may be ok for UK
but not ok for bolehland yet.
Even the link to youtube needs age verification.
So do be considerate.
If you wish to discuss such thing I am sure pcyeoh will be able to give you the links.
I just dont get it. What does freedom of speech and democracy to do with forum rules. Does this mean we can also do as we wish in a PUBLIC BUS? Or in a PUBLIC SCHOOL? Can we take the liberty to do as we wish just because it is FOR the public? We still follow rules and regulations dont we? Why should a PUBLIC forum be any different? Its simple, just as we claim the right to use a public facility, the facility adminstrator (be it whether a school, bus or in this case a forum) has EVERY right to administer and enforce rules (even locking threads if it is deemed a lame topic) :D

Chang, PC has done it again and it doesn't matter. It's besides the point. I think some of us here have a slightly different view on freedom of speech and democracy. Democracy is not for any of us to go around and do as we wish. It is a form of expression to choose one's government and not going around shouting and screaimg FREEDOM!! That is only in the movies or in actual liberation. In our case, we achieved independence 50 years ago. So you want to shout FREEDOM!! i'll look at you as a mad man. Everything has it limitations and unless you want to be the Americans in the Iraqi war where you are doing things you should not. We would do well abiding rules of this forum.

I just read the entire 5 pages all over again, it all started with a shock, then later about the actions of our gov, then sympathy for her and other genius, then about the "cure" then about her interview and her truthfulness, then again about the "cure"
... I dont see anywhere anyone glorifying her job, only one incident where it was mentioned "she could become an idol to our Malaysian young ladies", but that one everyone can see with all the facial expression sounded more like a joke or warning than glorifying her.
Maybe men are already stereo-typed to be MCP and sexist... even a swimming routine joke by pcyeoh landed him in the banana plantation.

I dont know if Jeff Ooi might close this forum once for all since now he is stationed in Penang with big responsibilities and maybe the moderator also finds it impossible to keep track of all the posts while at work.
He has voluntered to be the moderator and some of us are making his life miserable.
Afterall we are not paying a cent to them for the upkeep of this forum.
I am no big fan of Kwchang either but i do understand his responsilities of maintaining harmony and we adhere to the forum rules.
So if you still want this e community forum to be your second home then let him run this forum the way he feels is best for the community.
There are so many other forums to choose from to post your views without censorship.

We have members who have been around since day one and are still active members who don't find any bone with the mod or administrator. They sort of understand how this site started and its purpose and are more than happy that they have a place to put up their views in a structured manner. If the rest find their rights are curtailed by the house rules, pls look for alternatives as the rest DO NOT want things to be changed. Blogging will be the best for them.

555, you are referring the article in the Star, fine, but I think you should re-read what else was stated in the referred thread.
The article may have been printed in the Star - but all others comments were not. I believe the moderator took note of the way the discussion was developing into a kind of trash gutter talk unsuitable for a community forum.

I just feel the admin is conservative. He is running a community forum for Subang Jaya community , not rembau.com.my, not guamusang.com.my.
I dont see a big issue out of that topic and also this topic :) both are quite interesting.
From the tone of some of the comments, I guess many of us are still not ready for true open discussions where people dont get upset over comments. We are still having that old mindset, so I guess its better we just leave it like that . Maybe there will be a day in the future where we can say whatever we want and nobody gets personal.

The Star newspaper has editors who screen letters from readers, proofread and makes sure all is safe before publishing. U can't write crap to the The Star. But people do write crap in this forum. And from what I see, a lot of what we post in this forum are crap comments. Coffeeshop talk. Just to have some fun and time off from our usual routines. So there is a difference, 555.

Ya-lah, those comments in Star got the same subject matter but not the same trash tone like the comments in the usj forum thread. Come on lah, man.
The admin is doing a job. Conservative or not ... its his turf and he has his Forum's interest and his own backside and ricebowl to protect. Many people may think anything on the internet operates in a vacumn and untouchable but others are more realistic.
There is always talk of Free Speech and Freedom, and I always believe people who advocate such concepts only mistaken ly think of it from their point of view - but remember that in such an environment what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. You can advocate liberalism and you cannot stop someone from advocating conservatism. Under such a regime you cannot accuse the Admin of being conservative, he has his right as you have yours. Your right is that you can voice what you want and you like under your own jurisdiction, but not under his jurisdiction because you have to respect his right.
You get it?
Anyone can start on any isp rented server a "USJ Liberal Freedom of Free Speech Forum" and admin it as they see fit. Why not? If believe in Freedom of Speech and that USJ is sooooo liberal unlike Gua Musang, don't just talk the talk, walk the walk.

This forum requires a lot more of getting over things and a lot less of looking for things to be offended by.
I have said these words or something of a similar effect before in this forum -anyone who gets offended when no offense is intended when the Mod put a stop to their bullcrap is a complete nimrod.
Wow! This thread is still going strong....

I suggest those who con conform to the house rules to open their own blog and become a blogger. Write what you want and how you want and you also won't have anyone closing down your thread. Be in control and responsible what you write in your blog.
Dear lord, does that means if this country have rules that u dont like, then we all have to leave and goto other country....
We must try to achieve better, not stagnant. This forum may be good since day one (my fren, it must be quite long ago), we must try to improve this forum to become better. "as the rest DO NOT want things to be changed", how can you represent the rest? you are only alone! unless we have a poll, you cant speak for "the rest"!!!! You make too many assumptions...
And you cant ask those dont like the rules here leaves! Very arrogant like BN!!!! You must try to convince them, with reason, not with "force"!

is this what mr chang called name calling? if so, why there is no banana on sly? Please note that the Forum is programmed (by Jeff originally) to block out 4-letter words with stars. This is one of the things that I do not have to censor because it is automated. By the way, that was not name-calling

I would appreciate it if siew wai may let me know where that thread is ... I certainly cannot keep tract of everyone that was posted

So many observations made by the others and you still equate the Forum as a country. By the way, no one is forced - the banana is given as a warning. Please read our rules. We cannot please everyone.
Wow! This thread is still going strong....
I will be closing it soon....and moving it to the sub-forum on "Moderation issues"

guys... take it easy. It is just a forum.
Moderator can't please everyone and no one is perfect. THis job is not easy and often everything is very debatable. we can talk about this forever and i am sure we still won't be able to find a perfect moderator.
In such situation...a good one is better than a perfect one.
just my 2 cents.

No. See this other thread (http://www.usj.com.my/bulletin/upload/showthread.php?t=22247&page=2&pp=15).
The forum and the country are 2 different things.
