I just gotten back from my stay at Hyatt JB. Initially, I thought it should live up to its 5 stars quality of services but it has again and again disappointed me. Just want to share with you guys of my bad experiences in general.
Are these 5 stars hotels really live up to its reputation?

Since there is no independent rating agency in Malaysia the hotels can set the stars themselves. Many, I'd even say most, hotels in Malaysia claiming 5 stars should rather be rated 3 or 3 1/2 stars. Some 4.

I had changed rooms for 3 times.. and the last room was still disappointing!!!
They will only try to rectify the problems when the guest complaint. I wonder why they don't ensure all their rooms are in good conditions before releasing to the guests...
I was there to get peaceful moment... and not the thrill and unpleasant surprises!!!

hyatt regency JB is a 4 star hotel. not 5 star. back then, i always regarded hyatt JB as the best hotel in JB - that was the 90s. the pan pacific although being a 5 star hotel was badly managed.
once i went to singapore for communicasia. because all the hotels in singapore were fully booked, i decided to stay at the hyatt JB. i drove down at midnight after i received a confirmed booking by phone. when i arrive around 3am, i was told all rooms been taken. it was after complaining to the manager on duty, they upgraded me to the junior suite. it was a very nice room.
my last stay was in december last year. the rooms and furnishing are looking a little tired and i wonder when they will do any upgrade.

Yes some hotel GM are on austerity drive.
My expectations are hot water, air-con must be working.
And room and bathroom clean and bed made up (no cigarette smell, no foreign hairs) before I check-in.
So far my stays in Hyatt are ok.
You should complaint to their HQ in USA.
Please be specific about your complaint when you email to them so that the JB guys knows they are not going to get away from it.

Could you advise where can I find the source to complaint? Actually, after the initial few bad events this weekend stay at Hyatt, I was like let it go coz they did do something to compensate me. However, the attitudes and the way they are doing things plus the very last 2 bad events, it seems like... hey as long you have used our services and we have given you some fringe benefits during your stay.... just shut up and no waiver/rebate on your stay!!! The benefits given are not free lunch!!! Very like take it or leave it attitudes.. we have done our "BEST EFFORT" during your stay.. the so-called 5 stars, hence, you are not entitled to get refund!!!
