Direct Employment of Maids

How does one go about recruiting/employing a Maid without going through an Agent? What are the steps and procedures?
Would appreciate if those of you who have done so kindly share the experience. Thank you.

i got my new indon maid on my own thru recommendation of a friend.
this is what i did..
the maid will have an agent in indonesia who will do all the paperwork for them. i liaise with the agent directly. i have to bank in 2k for the processing in indon..inclusive of airfare. when all the paperwork is done. the agent will post them to you. you need to go the immigration, if you planned to do on yr own, and collect the necessary forms. the forms will tell you what you need to do.submit all the paperwork and wait. i appoint a local agent here to do all the paperwork for me! :D i paid the local agent 1,600. the maid will enter malaysia on a social visit permit. you have to go to the airport to pick her with the necessary documents.
then it's to fomema for medical. if all's ok, go back to immigration. they then convert the social visit to work permit.
there'll be lots of running around if you are doing on yr own.
