From a report in the Spore Straits Times (http://straitstimes.com.sg) today, it seems to be off.

Some form of silent protest, I believe.

Some form of silent protest, I believe. It was not a silent protest at all, he issued a statement saying the Indian community was hurt by the demolition of the 100-year-old temple in Shah Alam and the Indians are unhappy, this is not silent protest at all but to some people in the government, they are mostly deaf but over the next few days they will shout and scream at some General Assembly about racial harmoney, toleransi antara kaum and all those rhetorics.... blardy hippocrates!

I have always admired Penang when ever I visited the island. There various temples, mosques, and clanhouses for you to visit. It is a tourist attraction rather than a holier than thou image. Everytime I go I will take photographs of the mixed culture and the serenity of these places.

Why are people so afraid of other's beliefs is not God's intention . It is a human man made perception design to confuse and in colusion with their own agenda. Have Faith in your belief and let other do to.

Together, we can move foward , let us concentrate on how we can progress rather than picking on sensitive issues that will divide and distance each other. This country's resources is a plenty and if only we can mine it together irespectable of race, colour or creed , we can be a nation which our future generation will reap and continue to prosper. Look foward towards software rather than hardware.

Hmm...that's not what the report ("Stir over Samy Vellu's Deepavali dampener") in the Spore ST said.

The chronology of events, according to the ST, is something like this:

1. Yesterday, SV had "advised" all MIC MPs and state assemblymen not to hold any public celebrations. His statement, sent to the media, read: "It is to mark MIC's respect for Hindus who are saddened by the demolition of Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Padang Jawa, Shah Alam, Selangor. The demolition of the temple has hurt the feelings of Hindus nationwide."

2. The PM, who was addressing 2,000 Umno chiefs yesterday, said he was "very disappointed" with what had happened.

3. Some Umno leaders had shouted "Sack him" as the PM called for "calm' and for the issue to be resolved "peacefully".

4. The PM also warned potential "troublemakers" that he would not hesitate to "take action" if the issue stirred up emotions. The ST report said "troublemakers" is an indirect reference to opposition parties and a Hindu NGO.

5. The PM later yesterday discussed the issue with Najib and Khir Toyo.

6. SV retracted his statement - see 1 above - a few hours later thru his press secretary. His press secretary said apart from SV, other MIC leaders will hold open houses due to "appeals from the public who want the events to go on".

Samy Vellu's was never on because the family was in mourning over the loss of the brother.
but looking at the sentiment and anger over the countless demolitions of temples, samy thought that he would play to the tune and decree that all mic deepavali dinners should also be cancelled.

Ai yah, Sandiwara only lah. Election is near, so they created a plot. Samie became the hero . I can bet , in the next few days , he will say to his indian community, don't play, play, with me. Since they give a land he donate "xxx" ringgit to build a new temple. "All these money from mic " So in the spirit of muhibbah, forget and forgive, vote mic. and come to mic open house.

Mollywood lah brother. In the end the raayat get to watch an episode. Who's next? Fearless Chinese mca or Keris hang tuah lama ?. main producer : Barisan National.

This is how our government swept under the carpet issues which we demand answers

1. Bus crash resulting in 22 died - privatise the medical screening of all 500,000 comercial drivers when they renew their CLVB licence. Case closed.
Benefit: RM 500 million annual revenue to a RM 2 crony company.

2. Ferry caught fire and sank with 7 dead - build a new jetty in Mersing. Case closed.
Benefit: RM 150 million new jetty so opportunity to milk this project

3. Failed drug bust resulting in 2 policemen killed - immediate allocation of RM 150 million for upgrading and replacement of firearms and buy bullet proof vest. Case closed
Benefit: Somebody is going to benefit from this. How much? Well, wait for the Audit General report 2 years from now.

4. Demolition of 100 year old Indian temple - 10,000 sq ft of land given. Case closed.
Benefit: Samy Vellu becomes a hero

Not one of the above incidents was anybody charged for negligence, high handedness, corruption, or total lack of due deligence. There is no assurance that such incidences will not happen again. Instead of ostracising them, the government of the day ostrichises itself by burying its head in the hole and refuses to face reality or recognize the truth.

The land given was only much later and even that was after Pak Lah stepped in.They wanted to get rid of it and they did it. So basically the Selangor lead by KT is after temples based on what we can see. But if you built an illegal mansion, well that is ok.

yes they also destroyed an illegal surau but they gave alternative site before their demolish the surau. so lets not say they were not fair cos their demolish both the temple and the surau.

Selangor Maju!!!!

This swift action probably makes P L look like a temporary hero.

Is P L going to step in? Guess the temporary hero status has expired!
