lateral roots

i have a rambutan tree in the garden and the lateral roots are surfacing and showing thru the grass. if i hack and remove them, will it kill the tree?

i have a rambutan tree in the garden and the lateral roots are surfacing and showing thru the grass. if i hack and remove them, will it kill the tree?Err buddy...as little as Orchi knows...it won't...

The idea is to prune some of the tops off of the rambutan tree...to stop it from growing any taller...hence lesser lateral roots...won't harm the tree altogether.

But the problem is...when you start to hack the lateral roots...you would be digging thru the beautiful lawn as well...

if not...the roots would extent to rip off the nearby beautiful flooring tiles...:p
