hi
if you have photoshop, u can use the lasso tools http://www.google.com.my/search?hl=en&q=photoshop+lasso&btnG=Google+Search&meta=
alternatively u can also use a freeware photocap http://www.google.com.my/search?q=photocap+&btnG=Search&hl=en

If u r using Paint... then u can select the part you want, right click and cut.. then open another Paint and paste onto the new sheet... make sure you adjust the screen to fit the pasted picture... :)

i have photoshop but dont know how to use.
so decided to use paint. let's say i want a crop a tree, but i want the tree in a triangle, not a square. how do i do that?
tried the cut and paste technique but the whole screen is cut.
if u use Paint, use the free-form cut function. The icon is shaped as a star (next to the square cut). Cut out the shape u want, and then press Ctrl-C to copy. To paste it to another picture, press Ctrl-V.

let's say i want smooth curves. the free form doesnt give me smooth curves. how do i go about this?

You have to zoom in the picture to bigger and do it slowly and steady....

I don't think so ... unless you take the initiative to give photoshop a try. ;)

It is difficult to cut freeform using a mouse. Suggest you use a tablet (those can write free hand or chinese character or chinese brush stroke)

yeah, i think Photoshop has more advanced features n functions. It could automatically (roughly) select and cut out the outline of the object. Try to read on 'magnetic lasso'.

What about Faststone? Can it do free form cropping? If so, how do I go about it? :)

Use the "lasso" in photoshop with a tablet/wand :D
