Also since we are on this, how about maxis's USB modem wireless broadband?
It's advertise as RM138 per month.
Do you think the download speed will be 3.6Mbps!? or just a scam figure?
Currently I am on streamyx 512 @ RM66 but the actual download is only 56kbs.

Forgot to mentioned the card for "There are 384kbps HSPDA package. RM68 all-u-can-eat." is a RM488 PCMCIA card. There is USB version.
Definitely the speed is more than 56k.
There were on demo outside Sec14 ITWorld 2 weeks ago. ;)

Celcom kinda sux coz when I was looking for wireless broadband, reaching them is difficult. They don't reply e-mails nor take calls. Celcom's centers are not very easy to find. And the so called reps they empower are totally clueless to what is being offered.
Maxis has better customer service.
Here's a catch, though. 3.6 Gbps is 3.5G and that the theorectical limit. You're not gonna reach that kinda speed. And the download speed actually depends on where you are and also how many users are using the bandwidth.
Just don't get your hopes too high or you'll really be disappointed. :D

512 kilo bits per second is around 52 kilo bytes per second.
if u get 56 kilo bytes per second, then your connection is very very good.

I got a fren's wife using Maxis broadband. The card is around RM2,500 and the monthly charges around RM1XX plus (thestar) or per use charge. Thats pretty expensive.
I agree with your comments on Celcom there is hardly any info or the useless stuff on their website and their dealer dunno any sh**.

In today's TheSun I saw as advertisement on '4G' wireless broadband from iZZione, 1Mbps at RM88 per month with one-off activation fee of RM82.
Is this better or should I upgrade my current streamyx 512k to 1.0m package at RM88?

although sucks sometimes, i believe streamyx still a better choice compare to other providers. streamyx 1M package is RM77 promotion, normal is RM88.
but if u are migrating to streamyx u need to read the terms and condition properly, don't get caught in sales talk, sometimes they charge misc that might end up in more than what u expected in the first month.

From my understanding of DSL, the more further your house from the TM exchange the more probable problem you might have. The signal in the line drops as you are further. Sometime, problems also arises if your telephone lines are old (copper degrades over time and the purity of the copper used). Like the 563X (first 4 digit of your tel nos) ones are at least more than 10years old while the 802X ones are newer. The best is about 5km from the exchange.
Mine, unfortunately falls onto the 563X and the TM exchange is at SS13, I am told. While the 802X numbers is from Taipan Exchange and my house is about 2 stone throw away from taipan. Unless, I can get member from TM to hot wire me to 802X, no point facing all the problems everyone does, if I subscribe streamyx.
Problems can also arises from faulty from any connections, "torpedo" and to your house.
So, the only way is to get wireless. Since Maxis Broadband receives many complaints from the other thread and the card plus package is expensive. I guess I have to settle with Celcom Broadband (RM68 for 384kbps).

iZZinet claims they have 4G wireless broadband. See here http://www.kongtechnology.com/2007/10/11/4g-wireless-broadband-in-malaysia/
I am not sure if they are real 4G or not... but a new company like this better don't try first. Let others try first... hahaha...
For the time being Streamyx is perhaps still the best option.

I'm using Maxis 3G broadband and I recommend you to totally forget about the idea of getting one.
The connection is abysmal. I signed up for 3G but everytime there's lots of users, they bump me to EDGE and the quality is worse than dial-up. Besides, the 3G broadband has to share to phone 3G. So you get the picture how bad the quality will be when there's a few more users.
I'm waiting for WiMax which is supposed to be better.

By 4G, I think you mean the Izzi advertisment.
It sounds great theoretically where the thing works like radio signal, which will be boosted when usage increases. Mind you that's only in theory.
Various users I've spoken to expressed their disappointment over the slow surfing speed.
Btw, anyone knows if the 4G standard has been approved? Last I checked, it was still under development and the standard has yet to be approved.

I've been using celcom broadband for the past 2 months & I think it's quite ok, was thinking of maxis b/band but somehow my area's not covered. For a heavy user, I guess streamyx still the best. I signed for the rm68 unlimited usage & so far so good, only that sometimes the line get disconnected for no obvious reason. Connection's best at nite :) and oh, I'm a light user, that's why I'm satisfied with it.
