Hi all,

I came across the 100% full latex mattress from Getha. It seems to be so soft and comfortable when sleeping as compared to my current Kingkoil coconut fibre mattress. Just want to ask anyone knows is it good for us (our health and spine) if we sleep on a 100% full latex mattress? (I dont want the spring pocket, not only it is far more expensive RM5000+, but I don't like to sleep on metals) (They have a new showroom in Sunway Pyramid new wing, just opened recently)

According to the salesman, if we sleep on the hard mattress for long time, it will cause us have backache. Anyone got any exprience of sleeping the full latex mattress? Also, how much is the full latex mattress for a king size bed? Is it about RM2000 (mattress alone)?

thanks
clement

My bro bought a king size Getha for RM3k+.
Quite comfortable I would say.
But the smell wouldn't go away even after 6 mths.
As soon as I step into his room, the smell of the latex mattress is the 1st thing which comes to my nose.

Anyhow, parents slept on it once & they still prefer Slumberland or Vono (same company).

I have been sleeping on latex mattresses for 10 years already.

They are much better than the spring type which are hard.
It is so much softer and doesn't have any sound.

It is also more durable , my mom has been sleeping on one for 40 years without much wear and tear.

But it is also much more expensive than non-latex.

My brand is dunlopillo, I bought it more than 10 years ago, heard that it cost more than rm 5000 nowadays for queen size bed.

Whether it is good for your spine depends on how you position your neck when sleeping and not the bed itself. As long as the bed don't collapse (dent down when pressed) half way, it is good for your spine.

Go for latex anyday. :D

I'm not sure about current generation of latex pillows but I love sleeping with it. Its somehow a lot more cooling than those cheap and plentiful common pillows or spring mattress respectively.
Point is..after some years, perhaps due to our humidity and weather, the rubber tends to harden (process of deterioration) in sections or spots...like little hard balls on the surface. I more or less conclude the pillow or mattress would be good for maybe up to 8 years and highly suggested to replace them for new.
I think its a personal preference where like me, I've always preferred latex pillow and mattress, but since the mattress is so expensive, I settle for a reputable and decent quality mattress but still a latex pillow anyhow. I just can't sleep properly with those feather or cotton pillows. Our blardi rotten currency exchange rate is actually responsible for those latex beds being expensive!. Dunlopillo is something like nearly RM200 if not mistaken. Mana ada logic?.
If not mistaken, the Japanese sleep on firm wooden floor with a thin mattress.. mana ada dengar complain backache?..

I am actually looking for a new mattress. What about the latest Bio ceramics from slumberland?

I think a lot of gimmick in the mattress business. One day it's latex best. The next day came Dreamland and all mattresses became Spring!! Now we are bombarded that firm surface is good for posture. And now the latex thing says soft is better. Ai Yoh, what to buy now? Even getting to sleep is BIG problem.

By the way what is the logic of mattress getting thicker. You mean we can feel what is inside 10 inches down? Sounds like the princess who could feel a pea in the matress!!

bought a cheap promotional king koil when we move to USJ, the mattress did not last more than 4 years when it run out of shape.
then i decided to go for slumberland, the best one available, i must say the quality and comfort is very good.............i should have bought the best from the very begining as it will last for at least 10 - 15 years.

oh, between spring and latex, i go for spring.......

eerr...also the rubber price has gone up a lot. So much so that at one time people steal the latex after the tree being tapped. :D

My family have been using latex mattress since the 60s, my mum do not have any back problem and she's pushing 80.

Do not have to buy the thick latex mattress, just the 4 inches ones will do. Do ensure the you get mattress protector.

Yes bslee, these mattress last about 10 to 12 years old with proper care. Do not use mosquito coil or vapours, as these will accelerate the deterioration of these mattress - loosening the bonds thus you have the loose bits and pieces.

"latex thing says soft is better" ??? I think the operative word is FIRM. Do not confuse latex with sponge. Latex is denser then sponge, and is lot lot more expensive then sponge.

If you can afford then go for a good latex mattress.

My mum have been sleeping on the same dunlopillo mattress for 40 years and they did not develop hard balls .

However, some pillow are not 100% pure latex, that is why they develop hard balls, it is due to the mixture of foam.

Just buy good 100% latex mattress or pillow. Maintain it well with two layer of bed cover and it will last for 30 years . Don't let the sun shine directly on it.

Slumberland and King Koil are made in Malaysia, those imported ones like Sealy are 3 to 4x more expensive.

do agree that one shd try first before buying. my recommendation, to go for the best ones as it will last and value for money in the long run + comfort it's provide.

Aiyoh.. how to test drive?.. certainly not take 10 winks in the bedding showroom?..that won't prove anything unless the shop is willing to send the mattress to your bedroom and I'll sleep a few nights on it. If I wake up mumbling and grumbling..u know lah..
Anyway..I'm quite comfortable with Dreamland Chiropractic which is still serving well...no problems at all and no backache nonsense. My pillow is obviously latex. As mentioned earlier, I'm just not comfortable with polyester or those el-cheapo pillows..they can upset my sleep.
I'd certainly go for a Dunlop (or other reputable brand) latex mattress but I can't afford it.

Aiyoh.. how to test drive?.. certainly not take 10 winks in the bedding showroom?..Well you can go to their showroom and ask permission to lie down on their mattress to get a feel for the type of support, the comfortness and etc.

After all, those mattress are not cheap.

Anyone knows where to get the Getha Full Latex King size mattress with the best price (cheapest)? I have been to Puchong furniture showroom, seems like the price fluctuates from one shop to another, for the same brand. One told me RM1800 only for a queen size full latex mattress (Getha), another shop in the Sunway Pyramid (new wing) showroom told me it is RM3800? How come the price difference is so big?

Anyone has done any survey?

Just ask for 100% getha latex and try to feel for firmness and density. latex are quite dense and soft.

Try the one around bandar kinrara just before shell station , puchong jaya. It is quite a big store. I bought my getha bolster there and I find the price there reasonable.

Ask around for the best price and compare with this shop in bandar kinrara along the bukit jalil highway.

My Mum has always used Dunlopillo...I am thinking of switching to this as well as I ache all over sleeping on the current hard mattress! Maybe I should turn it over first and see. We are supposed to turned it over every six months and I can't really remember when was the last time I did that.

I suggest you don't listen to those salespeople who are out for money.

Most foam will collapse (or dent down when you sleep on it) after a few years.

Take it from somebody who have used 100% rubber for many years, it doesn't collapse.

I went to Sunway or Mid Valley can't remember which one,
and fall asleep for 4 hrs in one of the king size beds there
after that i just bought that bed as it was so comfortable.

Now i know that Pillows is more important than bed itself,
a good pillow will make you fall asleep much quicker than a bed.

After traveling for so many years and sleep in different 5 star hotels
around the world and when i sleep on the bed no matter how good
the bed is i still can't fall asleep but when the pillows is good i fall
asleep straight away.

Now i bring along my own pillow everytime i travel for long periods of time,
if it is over 30 days i would bring it along.

I just went to check out the transforme series today. It's very comfy. The sales person recommended king koil putera at first. It was comfy but after I have tried Getha, king koil is not that good anymore. :p
The price is much more as well. Was listed as 4k plus, if remember correctly (too many things to remember..:)) The new one has nano-sliver, but i think it's too expensive for my budget.
The sales person later recommended old model. Still getha but price is around 2500. Not too bad.
If getting, then will get a frame too. He just showed me a pic.. don't know what brand but looks good. Does it really matter what kind of frame to get?
I got bad pain.. need to get a new mattress soon.... :(

Hi Jaz, the one I saw is Getha Transforme series, with nano silver tech. It was selling to me (after discount) at RM2640 only (king size), how come 4k plus? The full latex Getha (soft) is RM3500. Old model? What old model? From Getha too? How the old model looks like compared to the new model? Is the old model with nano-silver tech too?

The transforme series is listed as 4399 for a queen size (it's a printed price list by getha advertisement put on the show room bed). It depends whether you get nano ag or not. The seller said can't get nano silver less than 3k. I got the one that has anti-static, but no nano-sliver at 2500. (just the mattress) He said if nano silver 1000 extra.
free gifts: 2 pillows (getha latex too)

The seller also show me the price catalogue. Without nano-silver is already 3488 (old price)

Are you sure what you are getting is nano-silver? I think the words will be printed on your mattress. The one I saw in the show room reads nano-ag and anti static on the mattress, you can check your mattress. If you are getting at that price, then I am not so lucky already wo.. I got only a queen size.

You can check the website on what model you got.

The one I was quote at $3.1K full latex is ASP Award Series (Soft). At least it's full latex and it's King size. I like this one better than the Transformes..

Cavenzi (Malaysia Brand) but JG Nino is an Australia brand. I think Cavenzi ask them to put their label on side but you can see JG Nino on the mattress. The one I book is a new model release about two weeks ago...something to do with Latex...you guys should try it...it's very similiar to those that are selling at about RM$5K but this one cheaper ...maybe not much advertising cost is passed to consumer. It's not true they are not a mattress producer..you can check the info at WWW.jgnino.com. I dont like the memory foam one . According to the sales guy...during promotion in JB , within 3 days they sold 28 of this new latex mattress...even they do carry KingKoil, Simmons & Fourstar.

Anyway...try and sleep on them ..your body will tell you which is best...the cloth used on the new JG Nino is luxurious.
Another thing that none other brand dare to put the challenge is if you buy JG Nino brand, you are guarantee for one month..if you dont like it, they will change for you after you used for one month , of course to another JG Nino brand. The warranty is 16 years...who can beat them?

I saw a different model " Mother Nature's gift" in Singapore selling at the same price as the Dunlopillo Duchess...check WWW.sleeppost.com. But over in Malaysia , it's selling for only RM$2199 while the Dunloppillo Duchess selling at RM$2.7K.

SOrry that I would go back to previous model, togetha. Is anyone know if Togetha 70 (medium) and 80 (firm) come with spring or pure latex?

Anyone can highlight if there are import taxes and levy charges into Singapore if bringing in new purchased mattresses for personal use?.

One salesman says have to pay 7% GST and RM350for custom clearance forms/procedure. Another says, if for personal use, no need to pay any GST only custom clearance fees.

Thanks in advance.

My bed has finally arrived. Well, I now know what model it is. It's ASP Fibre. Queen size for 2.5k. Very comfy too but like what the sales person said it's the same like transforme but without nano0-silver tech lo..

Good night sleep. Happy mattress hunting!

I can't find ASP Fibre in Getha website. ASP only divided into Soft, Medium and Firm but without the interior sample shown in the site.

May I know how thick it is?

It's more than 20cm. bout 24cm... It says ASP anti-static natural fibre. it's firm as i have back problem and salesman said fibre will be firmer than the rest.. Ok, will tell you all result after 30 days. After sleeping, it feels like i have gone through a very deep sleep. Is it good? the anti-static is good for people who don't sleep well, snores..etc. I think it works for snorers as my hubby was sleeping sound and safe first time! no kidding! haha.. :D

Hi Jaz, just went back from another round of furniture hunting...very tired...found one shop selling Getha ASP soft full latex for RM3300 (without nano tech), king size. How much they quote you for king size? Why the website you gave is so cheap?

anti-static of course very good for people, good for anyone indeed.

Unfortunately, PC's post on this topic in another thread got canned because of a forumer eagerness in promoting a particular brand.

I have never seen so much fetish for latex, at least, not the sleeping variety. At last count, there are at least 3 new forumers who has less than 10 postings here, some posting through proxies, perhaps to hide their true identity, doing just rubber talk in this thread.

I can appreciate and understand the sudden surge in new forumers registration if this has been a thread on BDSM which will attract all latex aficionados. But for goodness sake, this is a thread on mattresses - I smell a rat somewhere, more like marketing talk.

I am sorry if anyone feels that my postings/ comments are of sales strategies.

I am truly a buyer/consumer for bed... because I have suffered from back pain for a long time. Was looking for reviews and research online before purchasing the bed and found this forum and decided to join.. Not trying to promote anything, just simply own opinions.

If you feel that it's inappropriate and fishy about the postings. I am sorry as I may not have enough readings about the policy of this forum. If the moderator feels that there's need to delete the postings, pls do so.

a bit upset being accused.. but I have nothing to hide...what a sad experience joining this forum the first time.............

Wow, dear Orchi, I'm certainly impressed by the homework you have done to piece together this case against the TS. It is to your credit, that being the popular character you are, that no one has stood up to speak on behalf of the TS and his alleged pals.

After going through your list of links, I can only say that your evidence (if it can be called such) is circumstantial. I see a bunch of people, who like me more than 10 years ago, over enthusiatically and happily hunting for essential stuff for the new home, bugging friends, family, colleagues, in the relentless search for the best, the ultimate and the cheapest buy in the Klang Valley. If I had the benefits of a forum like this then, I would have been posting like this too.

You may be right that this is a cleverly staged piece of marketing. But are you very sure that this is not some new friends in the forum just playing it straight and innocent?

Our forum is getting a reputation for being snobbish and cold to newcomers who inadvertently break the `rules'. It is my feeling, that based on circumstantial evidence, it is a reputation deserved.

As for chanseng738 and Jaz, I welcome your input to the forum. I am quite fascinated by this current in thing called Latex mattresses since during my time, spring mattresses was the in-thing. I'm not shopping for a new mattress....my current spring one has served me well over two decades with one replacement. I happen to enjoy a `hard' type personally, masochist that I am. But everyone has different opinion, and I am always pleasantly surprised to meet people who disagree with my `learned' judgment.

So keep on posting. If you go too far out of line, Mr. "eagle eyes" kwchang may just give you some nice bananas and you will be immortalised in the USJ Hall of Fame. :D

I logged in as a member coz I find the thread interesting and was hunting for a good mattress. Too bad, my post on the mattress I am getting is also deeemed as a sales man pitch. I dont care about whether the salesman is giving a pitch here as we have other forerunner that will rebutt the claim if it is not true. And of course thru discussion we will get the cheapest price. If the salesman can offer a cheaper price on the same stuff..why not. Anyway I am not a salesman , just commenting on the few mattress I have come across during my hunting....cheers...please do not be so critical....learn to trust people. If the person really are bad, you will see him getting rebutt very soon....

Hm..Hm...

Firstly, trust me ........ I am here to promote Getha :D

just had lunch with a friend and he asked me for opinion about mattress sinc ehe is looking for one.

I recommended him the full latex type for 2 reasons :

1) avoid the metal spring coil since it generate magnetic field which may interrupt the body. I personally feel more asound sleeping on a latex mattress than on a spring coiled one.

2) natural latex is better than other polymer foam since our body is in close contact with the mattress where the volatile chemical may be absorped.

Question : which brand is good to choose ?

What?..  I must be fully magnetized by now..the female species don't automatically cling to me..how leh?

I fully believe latex pillow is best, especially the one from Dunlopillo. Always use one, will always buy it. I just can't sleep well with another type of pillow.
Thats why I loath the night's sleep in any hotel (or elsewhere) for that matter.

I always have problem with pillow too, if not too hard then is too high. Never own a favorite one yet. Most of the time sleep without pillow.. but I found that when sleeping on a latex mattress, without pillow is also quite alright.

Went to see the SS19 neck and back pain specialist (opposite the Police station) the other day, they recommended the latex pillow for RM75. may buy one later.

If can sell it, I will. But will be difficult since many consider mattresses as 'personal' items.
My next purchase will most likely be a basic (or max 3 zone) latex mattress, most likely another brand.
