Got your attention. :D

Saw this yesterday. Our nice Safety N Health dept have been stressing on safety at the work place and many pictures of workers not using safety harness and helmets and other safety equipments...

This would be quite normal....

Incidentally, why are they building this giant advertisement billboard? Are they pulling an MBPJ here in Subang Jaya?

I think it's out of proportion for the narrow triangle space they have, to build this triangle BIG BILLBOARD!?!?

yea, i saw these workers on the big pole as well. at that time, a strong gust of wind was blowing and my colleague commented that if the wind blew strongly enuf, they would be blown off that thing, falling 50+ feet down....

aiseeey... for a moment there i thought there was an invitation for me to pole-dance. How have you been firefly?
The billboards are really going to make SJ look like a major highway area. I see another seapark/damansara utama in the making. All of a sudden, the houses along the mainroad are facing a highway?

the point of my photos is that if there is no enforcement, funny stuff would occur! Even small things like the helmets are not being used in the construction site.
if the H&S enforcement do their job properly, I am sure there is loads and loads of fine and workers will not be misuing their safety equipment.

In the photo posted by FireFly, just think about it. If I could spot that helmets are not used, do we expect safety harness are used in the construction of billboards ?

sometimes, I jalan-jalan and when I see interesting photos, I snap them. I keep them in my hard drive :)

I wanted to use the toilet the other day and I couldn't pee because I couldn't stop laughing at the floating helmet on the bucket of water. It took me quite sometime before I could pee.

LOL.... Unipole cannot lah. The diameter of unipole is so huge! They cannot slide down. Sure mati one.

If it is slender pole like the fire rescue team's unipole, then ok lah :)

Multiple choice test...choose the best answer from among the choices provided.

1. Recent photos of construction workers show them high in the air wearing neither safety harnesses or helmets. This is because....

a) the construction workers dont have the harnesses provided

b) the construction workers have the harnesses provided but choose not to use them

c) the construction workers have the harnesses provided but choose not to use them

d) the construction workers have found ways to defy gravity

e) the construction workers are wearing magnetic/sticky pants, modeled after the toes of the cicak

f) the construction workers are actually immortal so why do they need harnesses

Cheers, m

Some workers have the mentality that using all the
safety equipment is a waste of time and it will take
a few mins to put it on and take it off.

Moreover that other people will laugh at them and say
they got no balls for using all those sort of safety equipment.

g) the construction workers think that by wearing a harness, it's such a hasssle

h) the construction workers think that if I wear a harness, and if I do fall, the harness may cause me to snap my spine. I may as waell die and not wear the harness

I used to supervise flers (all with attitude problems in some manner, I'm not talking foreign labor) working at heights..doesn't matter 10ft up or 100ft up. Bought for them safety harness gear (Oi.. few hundred bucks each wor!) and drum it through their thick skulls to wear it at all times..regardless.
They NEVER DID, NEVER WANTED TO, perhaps only when I'm onsite. Reprimand after reprimand..it never really changed the attitude!. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE between the culture here and those skilled Mat salleh found abroard!.. Safety comes FIRST!.
I could HAVE SACKED THEM all for insubordination but where the heck am I going to find SKILLED staff of the same caliber for continuance just about immediately?.

These flers under my charge also have got families and are sole breadwinners..and EVEN THIS DOESN'T change their attitude..
Oh well!.. much much later..(after I left the company) one of those under my charge fell to his death (his colleague there CRIED TILL EYEBALLS BENGKAK!) and when I heard about it, I prayed for his soul..may he RIP.. and everybody else have learnt a lesson...people here have to just learn from events to believe or take advice seriously. As in many other bad events we read about daily.. I weep for MALAYSIAN attitudes.. some things don't seem to change even after 50 years of independence AND still LACKADAISICAL attitudes.
Progress and efficiency is for sure to be aimed and achieved..but there's NO compromise for safety measures.

Looking at those pics here.. Seems to me their site supervisors or whoever in charge of them workers is certainly AN IDIOT!..
