The problem with Starbucks (if that outlet is usually quite crowded), is they will limit the bandwidth to say 10kb/s per notebook.
Anyhow, good things don't come free. Airzed is fast, but for subscribing member only.
As of yesterday, Asia Cafe still provide free wifi. Service provider is PacketOne.

my notebook always picked up the Free Public Wifi wireless search.
What is tht? It's suppose to be a peer to peer network thing. Any idea?

I hope you're not doing any P&C stuff coz public wifi access has got no security.
I also need to use outside wifi connection occassionally. And I always look out for more convenient locations in case I end up somewhere unfamiliar.
Here's the list I know, pls feel free to correct or add in your lists
Taipan:
Leo's cafe (good fast connection)
Starbucks (I avoid this place, sometimes problematic to connect)
Old Town Coffeeshop (haven't tried but all Oldtowns hv wifi, rite?)
Kiwi Express (not free, tmnet subscriber/prepaid only)
Coffeebean (need to hv Airzed, not free)
Subang Jaya:
Station 1 SS15(good fast connection)
Asia Cafe SS15
Carrefour (Starbucks, Jombali, Shakey's, Don Sushi)
Coffeebean (again, Airzed not free)
Dome Cafe (not sure is free or not)
Subang Parade (McD, Rotiboy, Kenny Rogers and the whole stretch)
Refer this page for more locations

Sunway Pyramid
Starbucks, the theatre/pub next between Coffeebean & Penang cafe outside the mall dunno what's its name, any others?
1Utama - wifi available most parts of the mall
The Curve - Starbucks, Borders Bookstore, anymore?
Tesco DP - Jombali

In addition -
Summit - Starbucks, Secret Recipe.
Black Canyon - Not free i think
Subang Parade ground floor is mostly served by Timezone/Timenet I think, the last time I used Timezone wifi was at Jombali Carrefour, all I needed to do is register free online n access. Shd be the same way in Sbg Parade GF, I assume, haven't tried there myself.
Oh, 1 more area is obviously the whole IT floor in Subang Parade, there is also a cafe (Bamboo cafe?) at the far end of the IT zone I think is wifi enabled.
Sometimes it is a hassle to try n setup a laptop to detect wifi just to find that it is not accessible, encrypted, or u hv to subscribe, I hate doing hit or miss trials. I'd rather drive to places that guarantees connections. So far Leo's and Station 1 are my preferred wifi spots but both areas got parking problem. And when I say fast connection, that's just me surfing net or sending emails at a reasonable speed, it doesn't mean u can do fast BT downloads.

Bro PJS,
Are you into other forums as well ie..Avanza?
I hv tried the SUbang parade wifi at McD, like what u said, switched it on, but cannot detect timezone.
Time zone is free at starbucks and other areas.

Sorry, I don't know what is an Avanza forum as I don't own an Avanza.
Well, those Subang Parade fast food restaurants were listed in Timezone site url I posted earlier as their wifi zone, not sure if they've stopped the service.
To be connected everywhere, 3G is the way to go. I'll try n get hooked up with 3G in the near future if I can get my lazy, aging brain to sort out the technicalities of laptop setup to connect via bluetooth to my year old 3G phone which was nvr connected to a 3G service b4 :p
