See report in the Spore Straits Times (http://straitstimes.com.sg) today.
It seems that Spore PM Lee's son Li Hongyi, who is a Second Lieutenant and who is serving his national service, has been "reprimanded by the Spore Armed Forces (SAF) for not following proper procedures in e-mailing a letter of complaint to many other servicemen".
According to a Spore Ministry of Defence (Mindef) statement reported in the Straits Times, "2nd Lt Li was found to have contravened the General Orders of Mindef by broadcasting his letter of complaint to many other servicemen - almost all of whom were neither directly under his command, nor in an official capacity where they could deal with the matters contained in his letter of complaint. He has been formally charged and administered a reprimand after a summary trial."
2nd Lt Li, who is the third of PM Lee's four children, has received a Spore PSC scholarship to study economics at MIT in the US.
See - in Spore, PM's son also kena! Some more reported in the papers, one!
That's the way it should be done!

Of course kena-lah, since he has been a naughty boy. Our leaders' children are always good boys and girls so what is there to report. Besides if he has a complaint, why write all those e-mails. He should have just gone to papa who should be able to kowtim anything since he is the PM. Obviously he has not been well trained to be a PM's son. :D

With all the underlying discontent of everyday Singaporeans about a "Lee Dynasty" thingy, with the grandfather as Minister Mentor, sons as PM and head of SingTel (now left and rumored to be next Chairman of The Sands), daughter as head of some biotech project, daughter-in-law head of the all-powerful Temasek Holdings, perhaps this misadventure of a grandson is a spin. Just to make members of the dynasty "a little more human"?

Just had lunch with a Singaporean friend and by coincidence, his son is in the same company as Lee Junior doing their national service. Apparently, Lee Junior was alleged to have written a complaint letter all the way up to the Defence Minister lah... hmmm nice way of getting noticed.

Is this a community issue for usj/sj residents? Should it be with all the main threads if it all it needs to be on usj.com

At least Singapore PM's son has to attend National Service like anyone else. Have any of us heard or seeing our ministers or VIP kids being selected for Khidmat Negara. Bet you the answer is no cos if there is, reporters will be all over that particular camp.

Hmmm... good question... ;)
Mebbe we should get the reporters in on this issue... The Sun would do...
The rest - tak boleh harap...
In our feudalistic society the reprimanding officer would probably get sent to some command post in Borneo
