am looking for vacuum cleaner and very clueless about it. budget less than rm1k

would like to vacuum the floor, sofa and bed.

what are the good ones in the market? with dust bag or without?

Better buy the bagless vacuum cleaner. Check for the airwatt, more airwatt better suction. :) :D

Bagless vacuum cleaner works by cyclonic effect... dust/dirt is sucked into a cyclonic chamber which separates and fall into a secondary container. Am using an Electrolux unit for home use. "bagless" or cyclonic vacuum cleaners are are a bit more expensive than conventional units but it is more effective and does not lose suction compared to conventional units. Prices range from RM300 upwards... go to Carrefour or Jusco to compare prices..

Got mine from Onking... paid RM400 [cash] for it... saw the same unit a month later at Carrefour going for RM365 :(

You talking about wet/dry vacuum cleaner... no?

Advantages...
...sucks/vacuums (and BLOWS! depends which hole you stick the hose into... :p ),
...can take dust AND water... great if you have like a stucked pipe or drain... or flooded bedroom/kitchen/basement?... etc. etc.

DISadvantages...
Bigger, bulkier... and heavier (when got water inside!)
Water and electricity don't MIX... so, no simply carrying/moving unit around when got water inside... YOU CAN FRY!


Stick with a cyclonic or bagless unit... safer, cleaner and last longer...

i have personally used a water based vacuum cleaner. borrowed my friend's set. its OSIM. i like it ie great suction power, can vacuum sofa set and bed, etc. but expensive. about rm2k.

Dude... that one not water-based vacuum cleaner da... neither is it a wet/dry vacuum cleaner... :p

wet/dry vacuum cleaner sucks dirt and/or water... reverse the hose and it blows...

the one you mention is a regular vacuum cleaner that uses the water to filter the dust and dirt... "the water replaces the bag filter"

likewise - i stand with my earlier statement, water + electricity = danger !

saw one recently during their road show at 1U, quite impress by their suction power, pretty strong. ;)

Can try Electrolux which is far the best vacumm cleaners in the world. I'm also using them, as i am morally allergic to dust! They save my life on a daily basis at home!! .. Just kidding. But they are the best. and of course very expensive too.

Alternatively, you can try getting Mermaid from Osim. Which is also good too .. tried it, very nice and clean. can't compare to Electrolux but its the better alternative. Not sure about others like Bosch. Haven't tried them, but heard that they are not as good as claim to be.

Rainbow and storm vacuum cleaner are almost similar type. Both are wet type. You will always see these 2 brands during Homedec or other household fair at Mid Valley. During the demo, try asking them to show you all the function, like to vacuum water, and to vacuum normal dust. They will only concentrate and explain on the vacuum water part only, because that is the selling point of their product. When you ask them about normal vacuum dry part, they will say is the same like other brand, nothing special to show or demo. There is a reason behind that because in order to vacuum normal dust, you need to remove some portion from the machine and exchange to other parts before you can use the normal function. In fact, these is quite troublesome.

Other than that, it is a good vacuum cleaner. You can really feel the difference after vacuum the floor.

It is a good vacuum but way to expensive and not sure how much of all the functions you will use.

Storm is similar but not as good as rainbow.if you want these kind of vacuum, try Karcher. Pricing is more reasonable than Rainbow and Storm.

those china made big unit bagless ones from tesco/makro , giant & carref around RM150++ will do u a good job if your budget is tight.

I have a rainbow unit and have been using it for a number of years. It cleans real good and I recommend it to everyone. (No, I don't sell these units.). You can feel the difference when you walk into the room after it has been cleaned. Use it all over the house and also the interior of my car.

If you have people in the house that are sensitive to dust, prone to eczema and/or have bronchial problems, go for it.

I have the base unit and the super attachment that is used on the mattress. The thing sucks out the mites and their droppings. Imagine my horror when they cleaned my mattress during the demo - we have been sleeping and breathing in that stuff!
