I see threads asking for should we legalise prostitution, curruption, but why not asking should we legalise protection weapon? The crime rate is getting worst and our live is threatened, don't we have rights to protect ourself?

Misuse of protection weapon is what the MPs and law makers are afraid of. We don't want some GILA fella running in a house shooting his or her brother because of a small children's arguement

even u have all these so called weapons, when the robbers comes, the first thing in your mind is the safety of your family..

it happen to my uncle.. he is an ex police officer and have the licence to carry gun.. once a robber rob him and my aunt, he gave him what he wants as he wants his family to be safe..... safety first...even he had a gun with him..

no point of fighting them if your family is around...

sounds like a rational option IF the robbers are after money only... nowadays... robbers want money, sex, life..etc...not sure if they are results of inbreeding between devils and goats.

I guess the main question then is DO YOU SURRENDER and HOPE they don't do anything to you and family? or DO YOU FIGHT (to DEATH, or pretend to fight to death) to let them know its not worth the effort to rob you?

I have a full knight's armour complete with a broadsword, visor, leaf-shaped shield with my (adopted) coat-of-arms.

I bought it at an auction in Nantes, France. It's not an original one, but a very faithful, handmade reproduction. It fits me well, though I had to put extra padding at various places to make it more comfortable.

I've tried it, and I'd say it's completely Parang-safe. Even my most forceful chop can hardly even dent it, well the Parang gets dented....

The only drawback it that it takes some time to put on. Normally, a knight would need an esquire to put on the middle section, the body part, but I've developed a technique to place it on a table and crawl into it. From first time having taken me about 40 minutes, I'm getting below 5 minutes now with some exercise. Perhaps I can reach 3 minutes eventually....

keep a lighter or match near the aerosol can....you can spray the aerosol, hold the flame underneath and POOF!

Now, you might burn up your curtains or your bedspread...and remember to point the nozzle in the general direction of the robber, correct?

Also, better keep a fire extinguisher there just incase....and of course, it needs to be light enough to carry, heavy enough to cause damage, correct?

Just a question...so many seem to have their bedroom arsenal...does anyone have a fire extinguisher? Or, how about a few random piles of lumber. As Homer Simpson famously said, "lumber has so many uses..."

My house is already installed with an alarm system. But while the alarm is connected to the main doors and window grills, the roof is not. Hence, a thief who breaks in from the roof tiles and ceiling board will not trigger the alarm. I am a bit reluctant about putting a sensor on the ceiling board cos any cats/rats movement can trigger them causing a false alarm. So i am planning to buy a 7 feet GI pipe at the hardware shop this weekend and put it right under my bed....not sure whether to get one for my wife as well. But of course using weapon and fight the robber will be the last resort...in cases when they are already in the house and attempting to break into the room. If got time to run, we definately would. We could open the pad-lock window grill and climb out to the balcony and lock ourselves from the outside. The fear is not about losing money or valuables, it is about getting hacked or raped. We can never know their intentions.

Everyone talked of having arms/weapons in their house, but how many will have the courage to pick it up when confronted by the robbers? Just the other day i heard noises coming from downstairs, i came out from my room with my golf club and sat at the stairs staring down and waited for abt 15 minutes. Then when i think nothing is wrong, i went back to my room and locked it. Wat i meant to say tat i dare not step down to investigate. i think my golf club has no chance against parang wielding robbers.

Guys, i would recommend u guys to fit in extra heavy or solid wooden doors to ur bedroom with good locks. And device/plan some codes with ur parents/housemates when knocking each other's door in middle of nite to prevent robbers from taking one of u hostages when they pretend to knock ur door.

Studio R KLCC, Midvalley and Sunway Pyramid has them.. :) they even have the taekwondo sparring vest and headgear usable for the training purpose.. ;)

maybe the purpose is to "not know how to use it"
one can accidently hit his own head, become unconscious and pray hard to wake up on his own bed or the hospital bed, in one piece, with all internal organs intact with some minor bruises on the head

When a person facing a situation like this, i'd say most of them would be too panicked to know what to do..
best is to call the police, alert the neighbours and then grab the closest object usable as a weapon for defense purposes. Don't even try to be a hero and attack the robbers because:

1. You don't know how many of them.
2. You don't know whether they are armed (any weapons that you can buy, they can buy it too, perhaps at an even lower costs so they would not hesitate to use and damage it).
3. You are not Neo from The Matrix. :D

Unless ur house has a few guys armed with parang or better still samurai sword, u dont have a chance against the robbers who most probably will numbered at least 2 to 5 armed with parangs. If there's only one of u with young wife and children, there's nothing much one can do. It is frustrating that we are not allowed to own firearms to protect our family, and the government is not doing enough to make our streets safe. Not just JB, but i think SJ/USJ is not too far behind JB in terms of crimes.

Ironically, the crimes in SJ/USJ are not committed by locals but by foreigners who look obviously very foreigner. I just can't believe the cops can't figure them out from the rest of us. These foreign burgalrs and robbers move around in their cars so freely.... even at night and in the wee hours of the morning to commit crimes and the cops tak boleh nampak? Mana boleh?

My standard advice is have all your car alarms in your bedroom. Don't depend on your neighbour's ones. In the event of imminent danger, press all the alarms and set them off at one go. If this doesn't attract attention, I don't know what else does. Don't try to fight them as they can be very ruthless. Even the ex-CPO of Penang and Melaka Datuk Albert Mah fought a futile battle. When my brother in law house was buglarised, the intruder took all the knives and choppers from the kitchen and place them everywhere including the bed ready to use them. When I entered the house it is most frightening to see all these knives everywhere except in the kitchen where they belong. Until you are faced with the real situation, you can boast of the many weapons you have in the bedroom. If my wife is not afraid of the 'weapon' I 'carry' with me in the bedroom, what makes you think the intruders will? But if I can get them laughing their heads off, 90% of the battle is done. Using the last 10%, I will challenge them to show me theirs and if they beat me, I will give them RM 250 for losing the bet and who knows they will leave happilly forgeting why they came to my house in the first place. Elementary my dear.....

I have the followings in my room:

1. Mobile phone to dial my dad's number (my dad is more reliable than the whole police force)
2. Bamboo stick....to wack kao the guy balls first.
3. Shelltox and my lighter(but i dont smoke) learnt that from Home Alone 1
4. Alarm attach to my door and window....not very loud la...but loud enough to wake me.
5. Fire extinguisure...that wasnt meant to be weapon la....but can do also la.

My partner thinks i'm a little paranoid....but hey.....safety comes first.

Ahah. :) Coincidently, I had a phone call from a friend. His colleague wants to know where to get nunchucks and learn how to use them.

Use Broomsticks and Dog Chain! My friend. Broomsticks and Dog Chain!

Haha that's how I started.

Ok. to answer your question, I learnt Nunchakus myself since 14 or 15 years old and yes I did hit my head a couple of times THUD THUD THUD! Anyways, I did hit a "cigarette" off a Mat Salleh once and I told him, "did you know that, that was my first time doing that?" He was shocked and said, "You could have killed me".

Back to where to purchase Nunchakus. I bought my first pair of Nunchakus in England. In England, it's considered as a weapon but they do not censor Bruce Lee movies, showing him using Nunchakus (unlike in Malaysia). I bought my first pair in a martial arts shop in the China Town. It cost about 11 pounds.

In Malaysia, I think you can get it from Everybody's Martial Arts shop. I have also seen some sports shops like in MidValley megamall, selling Nunchuks.

My first performance was in a college in Subang Jaya in a fancy dress competition where the lecturer wanted me to act as Bruce Lee. My second performance was in my university where I modified my Nunchuk skills to one nunchuku, two nunchukus and the flaming nunchukus.

The skills I possesss is self taught but I was under training with battons. If your friend is interested in Nunchakus, I think some Tae Kwon Do instructors do teach them.

The faster you swing, the harder the thud on your head!

One can control the swing. It's kinda difficult to describe.

But look on the bright side! There are some shops (I don't know if there is any in Malaysia) that sells rubber nunchakus. these are called practice nunchakus.

For me, I learnt the hard way and I have a hard head :D

The underage smokers are NOT potentially be as deadly to other innocent parties...as compared with more n more of the freaking thugs out there these days...who would carry the lethal firearms n would NOT be hesitant to use them...whenever n wherever they go to carry out their criminal sprees.

With decades of strict firearm laws in this country...more n more crooks are armed with the lethal firearms...running loose on the street days n nights.

It should be about time...the scale is balanced...with well regulated firearms legislations...to ease up on the existing red tapes in applications to carry firearms...to permit qualified regular citizens to carry firearms solely for self protection purpose.

Right now...there have been thousands n thousands of firearms licenses issued to landowners...security companies high ranking civil servants n rich businessmen...Tan Sri(s) n Datuk(s)...for the purposes of self defense n hunting...(in SJ/USJ no less than 100 licensed gun owners by now)

n hundreds more may be issued to these category of people yearly.

What are we...n who are we...regular taxpayers who has NO rights or status...to own any form of firearms for the same purposes n intents...?

With the guards around 24 hrs, there has never been really any need to use any of the weapons hidden in the bedroom so far... :p ... then again.. mebbe i would shoot a (pain-in-the-arse) neighbor one day!

Is there really a shooting club around here? The only one I found was in Ampang Point and it costs a bomb for getting the gun license, monthly fees, etc. etc.

keep a lighter or match near the aerosol can....you can spray the aerosol, hold the flame underneath and POOF!

Now, you might burn up your curtains or your bedspread...and remember to point the nozzle in the general direction of the robber, correct?

Cheers, m

wat if they blow out your flame? it would be comedic to see the repeated lighting and blowing out of flame between 2 parties....

Cheers, m

AllUrban, I have tried that before (not on the thief but tried to spray on a flame). It's quite scary to some. However, this improvised flame-thrower is easier said than done. If one has never done it before and just want to be prepared, he/she should practice it.

P/S Don't trust what Homer Simpson says he is hopeless. He cannot even take care of himself and got kidnapped recently by college students :D Not from you college I hope :D

Joining the Shooting club won't get you a gun license. I have been a member there for more than 5 years.

It really give me a good laugh when I was reading the first page and I really need that good laugh. :D I have been feeling depressed & worried the past 10 days as my son was not feeling well & hospitalised. Thank God that he is getting better now.
I don't have any weapon in the bedroom & didn't lock it as well  Thanks to this thread reminding me to keep the alarm car key in the bedroom ;)

There is also a shop in SS14 that sells uniforms, camping equipment etc that also sells nunchakus. Check them out. TiNKeRFY, you sound like you know how to use it. Want to exchange "notes"?

Wow look like there are really some Bruce Lee fans in USJ. I bought my nunchakos in those nite market in Bangkok. I have it just hang on the wall near my bedroom door.

Nunchakos is a real lethal weapon, as long as u dont hit your own head or body, it sure work on defending yourself.

Ahah. :) Coincidently, I had a phone call from a friend. His colleague wants to know where to get nunchucks and learn how to use them.are you referring to the nunchaku? the weapon that was popularized by Bruce Lee, the Greatest Kung Fu Master That ever Lived? :D

Easier said than done. I wonder how many people who own them really trained with nunchucks consistently.

And when I say train, I don't mean play around with fancy spinning tricks.

Exactly...easier said than done. Though not practising at all for the many many years..I think I still manage to master the basic swing & hits which I learnt in my childhood after watching `The way of the Dragon' & `Enter the Dragon' for not less than 20 times :D :D :D

fancy spinning tricks are just for performances which I personally feel is totally useless. For instance, what is the point of being able to spin the nunchaku just to change one nunchaku handle to the other nunchaku handle with just one hand ? One is not gonna tell the thief, "hey, hey, look at the handle. it's changing". The thief would just whack your head.

One could also ignite the nunchaku but the thief is not going to wait for the ignition :D (see attachment - picture of hhtee :D )

to hit another person, just lash the nunchaku in one swift movement. No need do spinning, whirlpooling, rotating or fancy fancy spins or else your own head will go spinning :D

You are right. It is very lethal. And if you are not trained, please dont even try to use it. Chances are extremely great that you will hurt yourself rather than your enemy or the crooks.
