Strange, but that is the conclusion reached by The New Paper in Spore.

Qualification: the comparison is between sports channels offered by Astro, Singapore's Starhub Cable Vision, Thailand's Truevisions and Indonesia's Indovision.

if its comparison for sports channels, yes, astro is tops with 5 dedicated channels and one pay to view channel. if not mistaken, SCV and Truevision hv 3 only.

correction: scv now has 4 after they included the eurosports channel but they hv 2 on-demand sports channel in Goal TV 1&2.

the plus side for scv is that they hv more chinese channels than astro...

yeah sure... when they split the programs and run the shows over and over again... they have astro ria, prima, kirana, piranha... i have stopped wondering what is the difference. it's just a ploy to make us think they give us soooooooooo many channels.

Astro is the only entertainment for my mom when i am out to work. Basically she watch Wah Lai Toi, WATV, TVB, Celestrial, HBO, Cinemax, Starworld and etc...

This is for her to keep her time occupied at home. But she is a kinda forgetful so at times she watches the repeats and until I reminded her that she had watch it previously then she knows about it

Just heard recently of a company planning to introduce "cable TV" but using your telephone lines and go through some computer gizmo thingy. Better reception coz no interference from clouds etc etc etc and heard it will be cheaper. Then can cut the Astro ready. Even now I only subscribe coz our local TV really really sucks.

I dont even have local tv.....as my tv doesnt hook up with the arieal. Most of the time I buy dvds movies, English soap operas, Chinese soup operas, MTV, etc etc etc......no need to watch all those censored shows!

If i ever get astro, that's only for documentary channels.

Have to agree with on that. The addition of the latest discovery history channel has been really good although you have to at times bear with the US self glorification programmes that are aired.

I subscribe to Starhub's SCV service in Spore, but the only channels I watch regularly are Hallmark and BBC Entertainment.

Oh, yes - and the Fox Channel for laughs!

sirG, what is SCV's subscription like with and without the Sports channels?
