I just completed paying the hire purchase for a car, and having got the release letter from the bank, went to JPJ to have the Bank's claim cancel. What should be an incredibly simple thing to do, if one has ALL the documents is now quite a complicated matter.

1. Fill up a 2 pages (4 faces) form
2. Fill up another paper and have your signature verified in front of a Commissioner of Oath
3. Photo copy of your IC
4. Release letter from bank

Then, and only then, can the claim from the bank be cancelled.

why so complicated?

And the way things are going in this country, you might need to send the car soon for an inspection with Puspakom just to make sure your car is a Proton and not a Potong.... :D

they are just following the proper procedures.
I'd prefer it done that way with proper documentations, rather than having problems after the ownership transfer.
It has happened before. New owner kena saman, saman still being sent to ex-owner's home with his name and imagine the officers coming with arrest warrants...
