Loga of Alleycats fame has passed on this morning. What a sad day for the local music scene, an icon, with his afro-looks, passes on leaving behind melodious numbers for us all.....

We shall meet again, Loga, on that beautiful shore.... Rest in peace, brother... :(

What a pity and loss to Malaysian music and entertainment.

Everytime I think of the Alley Cats, it give me happy memories of the good old days in Penang when we pay about $7.00 cover charge to enter Carmens Inn basement disco ( Hotel Merlin, now known as City Bayview ) to rock the night away. They were the resident band there in the early 70s and was as good as any western disco band of the time.
David and Loga and the band were just fantastic with their voice and heavy music from Three dog night, Deep Pupple, Santana etc.

It's all still so fresh in my mind.

May Loga rest in Peace.

My condolences to David and Loga's family.
Sad day indeed for Penangites in particular, and Malaysia.

Back in the early 90s, watched them live once at a place near the Sunshine Tower roundabout (start of Jalan Tanjong Tokong) where they had a small concert hall of their own - called it Coliseum, me think. Yes, it was good. Besides them, there aren't many other Malaysian bands that were good. Perhaps, Yellow Jackets, Tremeloes, Memories, Blues Gang and Asiabeat...

RIP Loga, thanks for the music!

alleycats was the first band I went to hear when I came to KL.

The difference in quality and love of music and the interaction with the fans....was so obvious...especially when compared to the other club bands...

I never got a chance to talk to Loga or David tho I saw them occasionally at the local hotel bars.

I went a few times to new places just because I knew they would be performing.

Sad news for Malaysian music.

Cheers, m

When I was in the lowest form in the Georgetown Secondary School in Penang, I didn't know that I was witnessing the making of the Alleycats, one of the best or I may say the best as it survives the test of time for over 4 decades. They never failed to participate in all the school talent time contests. When they were performing public concerts, Loga would loved the part where he introduced the band members. He would say "And introducing my brother David from Hutton Lane on the lead guitar." That time people only thought that the band that could make it big were those from the US only. Today Radio 4 pays tribute to Loga by playing quite a number of their songs that brought back nostalgic memories. In between many called including some personalities and many sms their tributes to him. No Malaysian albums sold to ALL races than the albums by the Alleycats. This clearly and truly shows that the group is the most muhibbah group in Malaysia. And by the way, the word muhibbah was also widely used during their era. Today this word is so very superficial.

I remember once, a couple of years back, a group of us ended up at Chilli's after happy hours. There wasn't much crowd, a few regulars and our group. During the break, Loga came up to us and was chatting. When we offered to get him a beer, he politely declined saying he doesn't drink during 'office' hours. And after that, during the other 3 breaks, he was always hanging around with us, chatting and cracking jokes. I mean, this guy was like a real buddy, man. He didn't have any airs to him and no way will you expect that kind of behaviour from a M'sian artist. The ones I met were all snobs. One of the girls in our group was an ardent salsa dancer. She requested Loga to belt out a salsa number and even invited him to salsa. He told her he doesn't salsa, only masala!!

A few days later, this particular girl was around pj hilton area at noon. Suddenly she heard this voice shouting masala, masala!! She had a shock when she turned to see Loga waving at her while shouting masala. He came up to her and was talking to her like old pals.

I tell you, this guy was really down to earth. And everytime we meet him at either Chilli's or other joints, he will remember us and doesn't mind hanging around chatting.

My mates and I will truly miss Loga. His demise is a real lost to us, live band kakis. My fav number from him is his rendition of Sister Golden Hair by America. I honestly believe they perform better than America.

At 11.15am, Loga was reduced to meer ashes. Though he may not be around physically anymore, his memories, the songs he sang and the thought that he once was part of our life will always remain.

So long, Loga. You ran the good race. May you know have that long rest you truly deserve, brother.....

Hi All - just on what happen there on June 6 2007. Was there at 9 am , there was like 300 people attended there. Among was DJ Dave , Accapan. Some said Dato SV came ealier.

Loga remain left at 2 minutes to 11 am from the residence. There were the outriders from Mega Fortune Bikers. Like 15 of them , and like 100 over cars who escorted to Batu Lanchang Crematorium.

In the crematorium there were like 500 people there . A real Malaysian sprit, many Malays , Chinese, Punjabi, Whites and of course the Indians.

At 12 26 pm..he was ....cremated.

Thanks to

a) All Malaysian who was there.

c) And to everyone who there.

My deepest condolences goes to the family of late Loga - and David gave a very touching statement - he lost a buddy ( scuba divers will know what this means )

You are truly a legend in my eyes ( forever ), u did the ****** proud in this country. where ever you are your thought will remain with us here , and many Malaysian's forever.

What a Legacy.... you've certainly made a mark in my life... heard your songs during my secondary school days. The group of us would mimic "terima kasihhhh"... :p

If not for the school rule on hair, very sure many of us would follow the Afro hairstyle... can't imagine myself in Afro now :D

Rest in peace brother.

Growing up in Penang, I can identify with the likes of Alleycats and Sweet September. Some years ago, Sweet September lost Adrian, their singer. I met Loga a little while after Adrian passed, who was a friend who I regularly played ping-pong with beside his house in Tanjung Bungah. I expressed my sadness to Loga, who knew Adrian even better than I did. I remember Loga telling me that Adrian lives on through his singing and his song.

I can't help but remember those words recently. I share those thoughts with my friends here.
