thats a tough one!! BTW, did u happen to read the newspaper sometime this week???? Wonder if getting rid of the birds will haf anything to do with luck?? My personal opinion is in order to get rid of them is by noises, getting rid of the sarang and introduce predator! Some Indon around my old place in PJ placed traps and they actually caught a lot until left a few only! Good luck

3 yrs ago (2004), I faced the same problem, the pigeons would build nests behind the air-con condensers & window ledges at the backyard (including neighbours). From a few pigeons in the beginning became easily more than 30 birds roosting in the same backyard area. And yes, some neighbours thought the birds would bring them luck so they did not do anything abt it…

Besides the noise, the birds deposited their droppings all over. Bird droppings are health hazardous to humans. Dust from the droppings (dried up) can dissipate through ventilators and air conditioners and contaminate air and food.

I had tried talking to MPSJ many times but no action was taken. The problem became worst when 1 bird physically dropped dead onto my backyard compound, and another day 1 bird dropped half dead with watery bird droppings all over, I believed some people might have poisoned the birds.

There are many options to solve this - using repellent, installing spikes, put up a dummy bigger bird like owl or eagle (like the scarecrow in the rice field), you may even put up your own dummy face :D just your head with big terror eyes, etc.
All the abv do not involve killing of injuring of birds.

I used spikes, installed by a bird control company, as repellent need to be replaced every 6 months. It cost me RM900 for 3 window ledges at backyard. There were no more pigeons roosting at my windows. As of today, the tel no of this company is no longer valid, but the same website retrieved from the invoice is still valid, with new contact (for Subang, 03-80231888) & add.

Notes – if the birds no longer roost at your ledges, the birds simply leave to new locations (probably your neighbour’s or other area such as Orchi’s house…), general area such as the parks will still have these birds hanging around and children & adults will still be exposed to the bird droppings, perhaps more noise will make local council take action.

flowi, you scared me a bit...ya, it did occur to me about the indian mother removed the bird nest...that's why I have decided to seek for better solutions in this forum.

KKearthling, thank you so much for the information and recommendation!

My bigger problem is the birds are roosting on windows ledges one floor above mine. I tried not to enter people's premises all the times to do cleaning works.
