Why?!

Where's the nearest hospital around here? SJMC? Sunway Hospital? What are they?! PRIVATE! THEY WANT $$$$$$$$$$$, AND DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR WELFARE!

Where the poor people have to go? GH in KL? Through the traffic jams? Ambulance takes more than 2 hours to arrive?

God help us!

Why? because the perception is.. everyone is LOADED in Subang Jaya! :(

That is why got SJMC, and Sunway Medical nearby... and even private ambulance services...

Even the local Durian sellers think so... that is the main reason why lousy durians are also sold in SubangJaya/USJ with premium prices

What if I'm a poor person and need to send a dying friend to a nearby hospital? Die lo.

I know. Why don't we ask our friendly neighbourhood ADUN for one in return for returning him to the State Assembly? We could also pose this same question to our very non-visible Members of Parliament.

Well - you could stuff your dying friend into your car or hail a taxi ( ambulance service would arrive too late! ) and head to either University Hospital ( not UMMC - private wing! ) or to Klang GH. Assunta may accept your friend ( emergency cases only! )

Otherwise - bite the bullet and pay for your friend lorr... :(

Govt hospitals in Selangor: Klang, Serdang, Ampang (3). Most states only have one major hospital. We must thank the BN govt for this.

I must say I disagree entirely with the second part of your allegation.

If anyone doesn't really care about your health in this country it's the public hospitals. That's my experience, my family's experience, my extended family's experience and I would say almost all my F&R's experience. Yes you pay, but if i get a stroke tomorrow (I mean when I'm in good old blighty) they b**** make sure they'll take me to Sunway Med, Gleneagles....etc and not some doctor-forsaken ward in a public bin.

You are spot on! I have to pay double for my taxi fares though I only rent a lowcost flat upstairs a shoplot. And look at the vultures taxi cabs at carrefour. They think we owe them a living. My only advice is don't fall sick unless you got money. Sad isn't it?

Don't Msians have medical or health insurance which covers hospitalisation?

In the US or Australia, if you don't have private health insurance, you are relegated to the back of the queue!

In Spore, look at the waiting time and queues at the govt polyclinics. A 2-3 hour wait to see a doctor at a polyclinic is all too common, and Singaporeans have written complaint letters to the papers. And if you are referred from a polyclinic to a specialist at a govt hospital (which has to be done if the subsidised charges apply), be prepared to wait 3 weeks to a month to see the specialist. Which is why most Sporeans who can afford it opt for private hospitals and specialists - cut out the queues and the waiting times. Of course, they have then to compete with the Indonesians and Malaysians who want to see the same specialists............

The best is to ask your adun and the MP whom you voted for.

hey sirgalahad

you malaysian or what? all this time i thought you were a msian living in the US.... :p

From USJ, another option is the Putrajaya hospital... definitely nearer than Klang.

For ambulance services, you can always call the UH ambulance - their number used to be 03-79502500. Not sure if it's still the same. Had to call them a couple of times for my late father. This was about 5 years back. They arrived within half an hour (not bad, all the way from UH). Fully equipped ambulance, with driver, 2 attendants, AND A DOCTOR! (try any private ambulance - all you will get is a driver and a paramedic). The charge was only RM30.

Instead of clamouring for a public hospital, perhaps pressurise the Govt to implement a just and fair National health financing scheme

Yes. Good point!

Because public hospitals provide deplorable service for a huge amount of taxpayers monies. Better have a financing scheme so people can select for themselves.

Deplorable service? No, let's not make such a generalisation lest we do disservice to those hardpressed and hardworking folk in overcrowded underfunded public hospitals. You can encounter both good and bad service, in both private and public hospitals, just that people tend to make noise only when they encounter bad service but keep quiet about the good service (people tend to take things for granted)

I do not have any evidence to suggest that 'deplorable service' is anything else than accurate even as a generalised statement.

This is not disregarding that some people in public healthcare might work extremely hard even with Nightingale-like passion.

But I will continue to call a spade a spade.

hehe! I like your subtle hint... :p there only 2 ways any constituency would have a by-election, one is if the ADUN resigns... the other, you guess is as good as mine !...

Have you ever heard of an ADUN or MP resigning in our country? The only way there will be a by-election is when somebody die.

DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE.

There. Why so shy about saying the word. :p

Anyway we are now too near to the end of the parliamentary term for any by-election even if somebody dies.

have any of you been warded in sjmc before? i have been an outpatient there and few relatives warded previously... and i can tell you it is all about money. even you call the nurse, you have to pay, it goes into your bill. i won't exactly say they are any good, especially when the doctor could not even find out what was wrong with me despite sending me for a very expensive scan.

on the other hand, the public hospitals have staffs who do a great job. the only problem is the long waiting time. however when your turn comes, the attention the staffs give you is really good especially in University Hospital.

Subang Jaya.

List of what we do have:

#1. Million Dollar Millennium Park.
#2. Huge MPSJ building.
#3. Over-the-top public toilets.
#4. 3K Complex.
#5. Million Dollar "child Enrichment" center.
#6. Plentiful of Private Colleges and Universities.
#7. Meaningless Elaborate Handpainted Motives on the road surface at the Taipan.
#8. The country most expansive Private Hospitals.

List of what we do NOT have:
#1. Police Station. We have only one miserable beat base.
#2. Fire Rescue Station. (nearest one is in Shah Alam.)
#3. Government Hospital.
#4. Public Institute of Higher Learning.

 i think the distance from subang to UH is hardly 15 km.. unless you are walking i think its not too far to drive.... maybe travel time is a bit longer due to congestion on the federal highway but overall i dont think its too far...

Shah Alam hospital has been confirmed as 300-bedded hospital ... as they say, the plan is being drawn ..... as to expected completion ..... ???

The State hospital of Selangor is Klang Hospital..... besides Selayang/Kajang/Serdang/Ampang/Sungai Buloh/'Shah Alam' plus 'satellite hospitals like Banting/Kuala Kubu Baru/Tanjung Karang/Sabak Bernam
There is no plan for hospital in USJ as SJMC and Sunway have been providing excellent services there :D LOL

Don't know about folks in SJ/USJ being rich. I certainly am not, BUT I do take your point about the more rural and remote areas. Yes, you are right of course, these people do need such medical facilities more than folks here.
