Hi, I will be sending my eldest to kindie next year and am quite overcome by the choices I have here! I notice quite a few franchise outlets available as well. Any comments? Which would you recommend? Thanks!

Depending where u stay and many other factors. The Sri Comel in USJ4 is quite a proper kindergarten. I see many big cars sending their children to there.

As a parent who went through the same predicament last year for my girl(went thru at least 20 kindies) i understd. To me it depends on what you are looking for in the school ie. learning through play vs academic learning.
I found Sri Comel too academic for my 4 year old so my child is in Kid's Island and she really loves school. A small group with lots of other activities like sand play, water play and rythem and movement.
As for CEC, i found it the classes too big, anyway wishing you luck.

I totally agreed with usjhomer. It's depending on your expectation & needs & most importantly your child like the environment in the kindie. Is best to bring your child along to all the kindies that you are visiting & you observed their reaction. If the parent is kiasu type & is result orientated, no point sending to those kindie which is more for learn thru play & vice versa. You can actually send your child for free trial stay at the kindie .Good luck.

Oh, I had no idea we could try out the kindie. (good idea!) Anyone know of a kindie which focuses on character development, instead of academics? Have heard some less than favorable comments abt montessory (play too much, hardly learnt anything). True?

when my daughter was enrolled in a kindy near my house, i specifically told the headmistress and teachers NOT to send her home with homework! they were stunned. told me i was the 1st parent ever to request that. most parents are asking why so little or no homework. to me, kindy is for social interaction and sort of famil with what school would be like.. and if she picks up a song or two, good for her. she'll have the next umpteen years of homework when she starts school.. she 21 and in uni now and has so far been a very good student..
so don't stress yrself too much looking for the perfect kindy..just one yr child would be happy in..

Agreed with Coleslaw on no homework.
Brainchild in USJ 14 is good and from family experience. Not too serious and kids seem to have fun & form friendship.
IMHO.

My kid brought home an invitation to attend an education talk this Sat at Summit Auditorium, 4pm, which claimed to preview the latest learning system. I've booked 3 seats for my family. Its free after all. Why not u guys check it out?
I would also look for a kindy with no homework. Parents these days are so 'kiasu'. I heard of one lady who opened a kindergarten in Ipoh that teaches learning through play. No homework. But she had to close down cos the parents kept insisting on her teachers to give homework. She gave some writing homework but it's not enough for them.

I sent my daughter to Little Inventor in USJ4....I am pretty happy with the progress projected by my daughter thus far.
When I first sent her ... she can't speak mandarin at all but in less than 2 mths, she can speak mandarin with us. Now, she can understand well when sometime we converse with her in mandarin. :)
Currently, she also shows a good improvement in drawing and colouring skills. Though we did inculcate her interest in drawing and colourings, but I believe she learned most from the school. :)
In terms of socialising skills, though there is room for her to improve but she can mixed around with friends in the school. :)
As for homework, the only homework that she bring back is colouring. What the school practice is they will teach and complete the exercises in school but colouring occassionally will be done at home if the children cannot complete in time during the class. :)

It is in USJ 3/1D if i am not wrong. If you are familiar with USJ 3, it is very near the playground.

about montessori, it depends on whether the kindi is a FULL montessori or PARTIAL montessori, in msia, full montessori is almost impossible (expect for children house which most children are expat's children) because msia's parents' focus too much on academic performance.

U can try to check out Tadika Tunas Didik in USJ3. This is one of the kindie that emphasised on the Character Development instead of Academics. My son and daughter are there and they are happy to go to school everyday.
U may call the centre to check : 03-56311190.

It depends on what you want for your child. Mainly there is 2 main thing you may want to ask.
1...You want academic
2...or not academic?
l have a boy 6-yr-old just graduated from CEC. From these past 3 years of kindy experiences.. l found out that the most important element is the quality of the class teacher and subject teachers. Responsibility, delicated, enjoy with children, method of her teaching and handling, and etc.. It is all about the quality of the teachers that makes a difference...

Hi... for 1.5 yr old to 4 yr- you can send to Fun Station at Court 10. My friend sent her son there at 1.5 yo and found the son become independent and can wear shoes on his own and no more diapers.
From 4-6 yr old, you may consider:
1) Mighty Kids at Court 6
2) Sri Comel at USJ4
3) CEC (got swimming pool)
ENd of the day, it is all depent on your budget and what kind of system you want your child to learn from. Some can be very academic and you will not hv problem in Primary 1. Some more for fun and not much homework and you might not like it.
