You're referring to USJ10-JKewajipan-KESAS-ELITE-NKVE-BktRaja as mentioned by JoeJaffar, right? My Mapsource with GM-Malaysia/Singapore v1.21 map says it takes 24.3km and 17min9sec to go via that NKVE route :) ...

1. TaipanTriangle 0 m 0:00:00
2. Get on Usj10/1d and drive north 24 m 0:00:00
3. Turn right onto Usj10/1b 91 m 0:00:04
4. Turn left onto Usj10/1 323 m 0:00:45
5. Turn right onto Perpaduan, J 423 m 0:01:11
6. Turn left onto Kewajipan, Psn 806 m 0:01:47
7. Turn left onto E5 Kesas (W) ramp 2.7 km 0:03:54
8. Keep left onto Exit 508 Seafield 5.4 km 0:06:16
9. Keep left onto Exit 601 Shah Alam 12.2 km 0:10:10
10. Keep left onto Bkt Raja, Psn 23.3 km 0:16:21
11. BktRaja,Psn 24.3 km 0:17:09
It also shows that the alternative route via Federal Highway is shorter at 21.8km but takes longer at 17min50sec.

I'm interested to hear how accurate that "automatic calculation" by Mapsource.

I don't know anything about Mapsource but I do believe that Mapsource is merely a program to calculate distance, speed and tell you the time.

So basically, I would think it is using the speed = distance / time formula

Anyway, just to let you guys know, depending on the time of the day, berkeley roundabout is JAM PACKED!!!! I think this is during peak hours say about 1700 onwards.

so if anyone using Federal Highway during this time and another guy uses NKVE, I am sure there is a at least half an hour difference!

P/S Travelling 24.3 km in 17 minutes 09 seconds is equivalent to driving 85 km per hour. There is something wrong with this calculation. Along NKVE, you could actually travel 110 km/h.

I don't know if the distance is correct but assuming the distance is correct and you are travelling 110km /h, to reach 24.3 km, you would take 0.22090909090909090909090909090909 hours which is equivalent to 13.254545454545454545454545454545 minutes which is equivalent to 13 minutes and 15.272727272727272727272727272727 seconds. (This does not account for the wind resistance, friction between your tyres and the road, your wife nagging beside you, your kids trying to cover your eyes while you drive, your boss trying to phone you, etc.)

mayb the speeed average is at 80km/h

but if we were to set a lower speed average, it would be more conservative?

perhaps an average of 60-70km/h as there could be jam in one or more locations?

Yep, Mapsource use the specific average speed for each of the roads (generally according to the type of roads) that is set by the map makers. I'd say the average speed for NKVE was set to about 90km/h and not the maximum speed of 110km/h.

If you travel from USJ8 via NKVE to Bukit Raja, you can bypass the Berkeley Roundabout. Even via Federal highway you can bypass the Berkeley roundabout by turning right at the interchage into Jusco and hence to Bukit Raja shops area. However, the traffic lighted interchange may be more jammed up than Berkeley roundabout.

Kesas-elite-nkve

From Taipan, take jln kewajipan heading to Puchong direction, turn right at traffic light (turn left is to Puchong), then make a left turn to Elite highway-NKVE will be faster than taking Kesas-elite-NKVE to Bukit Raja.

............but at 5 pm, sometimes the line up at the traffice lights after the Wawasan School / Rhythm Avenue is very long. Despite this, I think that this is still the faster route rather than the Kesas - Elite - NKVE
