Hi,

I suppose we need to pay the airport tax and fuel surcharge when we book the ticket online even though the ticket is free. If we cancel the ticket later, can we get the refund for airport tax and fuel surcharge?

Air asia is having free ticket again but the travel period is from Oct 2007 to March 2008.

I don't think change of name is allowed especially this is free seats(zero fare). You are allow to claim back the airport tax if you book for the normal rate ticket but not sure about this free seats promotion. Is better for you to call Airasia to confirm it.

Just check ur ticket confirmation email.

It should state what kinda seat u bought, e.g. Y, F before ur flight number. e.g. AK741.

Some allow name changes, some allow outright cancellation (which I believe is RM50 also).

If they havent change the rules, you can get back your airport tax if there is no show.

I was told by AirAsia that you can have a refund of RM6.00 for all local flights. Can only have the refund after the flight date is over. But the problem is to call them. Their line seemed to be on hold FOREVER! Used to be toll free but now no more.

Flight change or name change for International flights cost RM 75....and no destination change is allowed too....ticket burnt or if u keep postponing the trip....u end up paying more lah!!!

Thats how AA works n makes all the profit!!!

I hope Air Asia doesn't refund cancellations. It will simply encourage people from 'simply' buying whatever free seats are around, and then only deciding if they want to travel later on. This comes at the expense of people who genuinely want to travel (and pay less at the same time).

If I were Air Asia, I would insist on a deposit, especially for 'free' flights. If you turn up, you may claim your deposit back. If you're a no-show, well, I pocket the money. Probably too hard to implement though, but still a reasonable idea. Especially in a country like Malaysia...
