Have you guys filled in the Income Tax form yet?

These people from the Income Tax is trying to encourage Malaysians to fill in their Income Tax using their SO CALLED E-filling system.

I logged on to the web today, keyed in my PIN number and I/C number and it keeps prompting me that I have keyed in the wrong numbers. I checked and checked. Every number is correct. Guess what? I then surfed to seek more info and I clicked on e-Filing FAQ and there is a note there : - "e-FILING FAQ English Version is being updated. For e-Filing assistance,
please call 03-42893535 or 1-300-88-3010."

There is 11 more days and the FAQ is still being updated!!!!!

HELP!

how do I file in using the E-Filing System?

I suggest you go to the counter at Subang Parade and ask them. The others are too far. I had problems too...I did mine last year and used same but there is a bug. They need to check at the counter...Try :)

I still prefer the hard copy version. :p

Submitted my BE finally at the Jalan Duta office. Loads of folks turned up just to collect their forms. Should see the long queues of cars double parked along boths sides of the road AND the road divider. Traffic police having a field day.

The same happened to me last sunday. There was a pop up message keep telling me that there is a runtime error 5. I have even went back and checked with the staff stationed at subang parade. guess what! the lady said she does not know what went wrong!!!

Therefore, she suggested me to use manual form. What the heck!

Or you can go to Level 6, Kelana Jaya branch, just located at Brem Tower, next to Kelana Business Centre.

I filed in using e-filing, has never been so happy filling income tax before!

I feel that there is something wrong with the income tax form program

If I fill in Manually, there is something called Rebat Cukai Individu (Individual Tax Rebate) which amounts to RM 350 and which I can fill in. But when I use the online system, there is nowhere I could key in this amount. At the end of the day, when I go to the tax summary, the "Individual Tax Rebate = 0".

SO WHY SHOULD I USE THIS ONLINE INCOME TAX FILLING PROGRAM WHEN THERE ARE ERRORS???!!!!!

I did my e-filing last week and my rebate cukai individu was automatically filled in for me by the form (rm350). Are you sure yours is not there? Or does it only apply to low income earners below a certain amount like me?? :P

Individual tax rebate of M$350 only applies if your chargeable income is less than M$35,000.

You might want to recheck the information that you have used in your manual calculations, along with the calculations itself. I find it hard to believe that there could be such a big difference if all things are equal.

You get the the rebate only if you have not claimed it within the last 4 years

This problem can be resolve by changing your language setting to English. I too faced this problem but manage to overcome... now can login with ease. :)

The e-Filing system dynamically changes the information based what you are doing, this way the form can be simplified & tailored to each situation as you will only be able to enter/see the information that is applicable to you.

If you are married and declaring your tax under your spouse's assessment then you will not see alot of the form, simply because it is not applicable. Whereas, if you do it as a joint assessment, or separately then you will have access to pretty much the entire form.

Hi, bro.,

(1)For those fields that are not applicable, eg. no. polis, no. tentera etc, do we leave them alone or must we put a slash across the fields?

(2) Can we submit the return at any branch, or must be our own branch, or must go to Pandan Indah branch?

When is the last date to pay the tax? 30th Apr (same with the tax submission date)?

Hi,

(1)For those fields that are not applicable, eg. no. polis, no. tentera etc, do we leave them alone or must we put a slash across the fields?
If you are doing e-Filing, then you this value has already been entered for you (and you cannot change this value). If you are using the manual form, then you just fill in the fields that are applicable and leave the others blank.

(2) Can we submit the return at any branch, or must be our own branch, or must go to Pandan Indah branch?
As an individual you should be able to submit to your local branch.

When is the last date to pay the tax? 30th Apr (same with the tax submission date)?
Self Assessment requires that you must submit your return AND your payment before/on the end of the month i.e. 30th April 2007

The e-Filing form this year is much much easier to fill in compared to last year's. Everything has been simplified and it is quite easy to fill. I completed mine in less than 30 minutes in the comfort of my office.

However, I did encounter a bug or flaw in this year's e-Filing form. If you have a "Pendapatan Tertunggak", like Bonus for the year 2005 which was paid in 2006, then you will notice that in the new e-Filing form, there isn't a space for you to put in your PCB contribution that has been deducted from your 2005 bonus. What this means is that your final calculation for your "Cukai kena di bayar" would be higher than it actually is.

My finance department advised me to inform LHDN about this manually and assured me that LHDN will calculate the amount based on their record and calculations. Apparently this is one of the "unsolved" problem that couldn't be rectificied in time for this year's assessment. Hopefully by next year all this remaining issues will be ironed out fully and we can expect a truly hassle free tax filing.

Anyway, is anyone in the same boat as me? Have you informed LHDN on the PCB deductions on your bonus for 2005?

Even the manual forms do not allow you to enter in this information, so you are not loosing anything by using e-filing :)

Declaring prior year income does not affect your 2006 Tax Computation anyway. Remember your 2006 assessment should only be reporting on the tax paid for YA 2006 Income. If you look at the manual form, you will see that you actually declare income recieved from previous years in Bahagian G, which is after you have computed your taxable income :)

The act of declaring the prior year's income would result in an Form JA (additional tax) being raised by the IRB for the year in mention. Note by now you would have paid some taxes on the prevous year's income anyway, so you need only visit your nearest branch and sort out the difference.

You're right, I didn't realised that. Thanks for the clarifications! I have no issues then. :)

I heard that payment needs to be made 30th April latest. So the date has passed.

Please take note that online payment is only for those account holders of Public Bank and CIMB bank who have registered with their respective banks for e-payments. Unless you have done that in advance, do not think about online payment.

The other route of payment would be to pay manually. In the Klang valley, payment is at the Jalan Duta LHDN HQ. However you can also pay at ANY Public Bank or CIMB banks over the counter. They have special bank-in slips for LHDN. If you prefer to pay by cheque (all cheques accepted), write the cheque to Ketua Pengarah Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri.

Sorry, LHDN do not accept credit card payments.

Regarding the over the counter payment mode at PBB, does anyone have any experience in filling in the prescribed form? There are columns for "No.Jadual Akaun" and "No.Taksiran". What are those?

kwchang

leave them blank.
I left it blank and the bank clerk filled in a number for "no. taksiran"

Look in the back of the first page of the bank-in slip - there are explanations for codes to be used.

Hi

Your best bet would be to go to the branch and ask them. I know that you can get a copy of the Confirmation Receipt slip there, I would think that you should also be able to get a copy of actual information that you submitted as well :)

WOW!!!! I am impressed with our Taxman's new delivery system. I had completed my Form when I went to their Office in Shah Alam on 11 April to submit my returns. There the officer persuaded me to do E-Filing; said it would facilitate a faster tax refund. So, apprehensive as I was, there and then I did an E-filing.

And guess what? I received my Tax Refund today (3 May)!!! Cheque was dated 23 April. Guess if not for the holidays, I would have received the cheque even earlier!!

Thank You Mr Taxman! Greatly appreciate your efficiency. What a breath of fresh air..!!!

Either I overlooked it or what but I can't find any annoucement that said 30th Apr is the last date for payment. I only know that 30th Apr is the last date to submit the form. How if someone do the fiiling on 30th Apr 9.59pm and found out he/she need to pay eg $10k? How he/she need to come up with $10k in a space of 1 second? aiyakkkk..mati oo ini mcm... :D

I think last year LHDN gave us within one month (from the last date of submision) to pay them.
