U want a helmet shoot ar? See wud i can do :p
Actually with 10megapixel and if the pic is clear... i can zoom until u see the helmet wordings... and the photo can be enlarged till billboard u see on hwy :D . When I convert to 500X300, web size, the details hilang. File size too big, when i posted, kena marah... cos load very slow. If save on TIFF it can be up to 55MB for jpeg... RAW? a lot bigger.
Eyes cannot lar... they wear visor... :)

I am already using an equivalent of 420mm zoom. So to be able to just see the helmet without any cropping, I think you may need to almost double that.
Wow good ride pics from Firefly too eh ^^
Wa Franky ~ Photo can be as large as the BillBoard yarr
Good la you'll the ride pics, good timing eh~~ the ride pics are sharp and panned background ~~~
How do you'll do it?

Wrong. To enlarge till billboard size, it has to be 27 megapixel. My good friend who is a professional photographer has some of his shots enlarged to billboard size and you can see two of them along the Federal Highway. They are shot with his RM 100K+ 27 megapixel camera which he bought 5 years ago!! He started his career producing cover girls for Her World magazine.

You focus the focussing point at a point at the car...i.e. racer helmet. Follow it and snap once u got the composition u want... no need to run :D . Move your body.

If you want a "billboard size" photo and willing to pay for it. Let me know :D
or u can get unca Pcyeoh to get his Her World friend to do it. ;)

Canon 70-200mm 2.8f IS USM with 2x extender :D that almost more than 400mm :D

WOW Me, nowhere near that. Lowly 40-150 with an EX14 would only bring me close to 210mm giving the 2X enlargement for the Olympus, that is only 420mm at maximum zoom and a very very dark setup. :(

unca firefly, in motorsporting event on a bright day, you dont need a 2.8f (I got it for taking indoor lenglui model show). Most prob at 1/300 u get about 8 to 11f. So a 4f wont be a problem.... unless u use a 2X cause the 2.8f becomes a 5.6f.... :D its the car's speed u should be worrying... at different stretch.. the car is driven at different speed... u haf ta match the car and your camera speed... i.e. 1/300... so that your pic wont be blur or too sharp like it is parking there for you to shoot :D ... to test the speed... guess the speed... take a pic... zoom into the wheel... see if the wheel is blur or not, while the body is sharp...backgrouns .. is blur. Hope my explanation can be understandable.
Panning also need practise. ;)
Maybe one of this day, I bring u on to the tracks... to take some race .... real close up.... but prepare for the heat and sun burn!

Still learning...it would be an go experience to go right to the track.
Panning...a simple work but not so simple a task to perform. Would you believe I was trying to freeze the car!!!! hehehehe. I was shooting at speeds of 1/1000  Really stupid of me is it not??
